What happened:

UG accidentally clotheslines Mistico late in the third fall, which causes the team to fall apart instantly.

Tecnicas won in straight falls, with Sanely using Eufoira’s La Soberana submission to submit Metalica.

Asturiano is a last-minute sub for Mercurio. A last-minute sub shouldn’t be needed since Mercurio left the promotion weeks ago. Dark Soul is indie luchador Mini Cuervo here with a new name, but pretty much the same look. He may have modified the facepaint a bit, not the gear this week.

Thoughts:

unclear why Edgar wouldn’t count the pin

A simple, well-executed match with not a lot to it. Caristico is generally going to keep it basic in most matches and Casas goes with whatever is given with him. Casas 1v1 matches should probably all one fall because the breaks in a three fall match feel too much when they’re going short. It was very definitely a ‘nice’ match but not a special one; rating it good feels slightly generous.

Hechicero carrying a lacking team is a cliché at this point but this was the biggest carry job yet. Dark Magic had his best match in CMLL by not being Big Daddy. Big Daddy didn’t have any idea what was going on, which is a problem when you’re in a lucha libre match. The rainmaker to end the first fall was wonderfully mistimed. He later didn’t quite seem to know when he was allowed to come in the ring. It’s totally understandable everything is moving too fast for him right now. That’s also maybe why to keep him out of big positions right now.

I will never be able to explain Malayo. The tercera good energy, but a match the Panthers & Cometa have done many times and with opponents who could add more than these guys. Polvora was the best and he was just there.

The opener was missing drama, as usual with the CMLL openers, though it did have more excitement than usual. Astro’s ramp springboard armdrag is looking great. Dark Soul doesn’t look like a natural tecnico. His run in the third fall was total tecnico, some impressive stuff. No one’s going anywhere here but he seems like a positive addition on week one.
