Mexa Wrestling (SUN) 07/14/2019 Arena Naucalpan [+LuchaTV]
1) Bombero Infernal b Toro Negro
2) Damián 666 & Oficial AK47 vs Mega & Ultra Mega and Comando Alfa & Comando Gama
Damian 666 replaced Oficial 911.
3) Apolo Estrada, Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo b Jessy Ventura, Zorayita, Zoy Raymunda [lumberjack]
4) Freelance, Mike Segura, Pantera I b Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
5) Arkángel Divino & Dragón Bane b Hijo de Canis Lupus & Último Maldito [Relevos Increíbles]
great match
6) Toxin b The Tiger, Aramis, Rey Horus, Puma de Oro
Toxin return from being out six months due to injury with a win.
7) El Diablo & Lady Flammer b Demonio Infernal & Lunatik Extreme [table, chair]
8) Hausser L Imposible, Fresero Jr., Dinamic Black, Black Dragón, Atomic Star, Eterno, Black Danger (Baja California), Aero Boy, Centurion, Baby Star, Fly Warrior [cage, mask, hair]
Eterno took Hausser’s hair.
The cage match teased Centvrion versus Dinamic Black as the finish before things changed. The fifth match was said to be the best match on the show. They also had a strong turnout, which would make this the best attended solo Mexa Wrestling show yet. An irony of the PALL alliance Lucha Memes helped construct is Arena Naucalpan has been easily able to replace the Memes shows with other partners now that Memes isn’t involved.
Tonight’s Arena Puebla is a loaded show. It’s probably meant to be the 66th Anniversary celebration of the building opening, though they’ve not quite mentioned it. There’s both a title match and an apuesta match, which counts as a major show when it happens in Arena Puebla.
The matches themselves aren’t super promising. It’s the title match that’s more of a problem. King Jaguar versus Perverso is not a particularly interesting match to me, but Jaguar has his fans. The local vs local apuesta matches usually end up overdelivering, with the crowd helping them along. It’s probably not going to be one of the greatest matches over but it should still be enjoyable. Nueva Generacion Dinamita and Los Ingobernables met last week to set up their title match. It was not enjoyable. NGD have been reliably good in big matches, but Rush and friends haven’t seemed like a good fit for what they do and vice versa.
The semi-main has Ultimo & Gran Guerrero teaming with Negro Casas against Angel de Oro, Soberano Jr., and Volador. Hijos del Infierno team up against Kraneo, Stigma, and Titan. Marcela & Skadi, mother and daughter, are a two-person team for only the second time in CMLL against Amapola & Dalys. (CMLL just doesn’t book 2v2 women’s matches; this seems to be only happening as a result of other people being booked.) Rey Samuray & Tigre Rojo start the show off against Fuerza Chicana & Toro Bill Jr. The show airs at 9 pm.
Not much news otherwise. Today marks two months away from AAA’s show in Madison Square Garden. There’s been no local promotion I’ve seen, really nothing at all except occasional mentions on commentary since the show was announced in April. I don’t expect there to be much of anything until after TripleMania. You can still purchase first row tickets, though at a very marked up price with other amenities involved. The ticket map itself has been turned off, presumably to hide how the show is doing. (The LA show map has not been turned off.) I’m sure the AEW folks will get a hard sell in person about working that show when they come to the AAA taping on Thursday and again at TripleMania.
This week’s Box Y Lucha #3993 is dedicated to Paco Alonso.
Lineups
CMLL (SUN) 07/21/2019 Arena México
1) Bengala & Sonic vs Cholo & Yago
2) Halcón Suriano Jr., Leono, Sangre Imperial vs Apocalipsis, Hijo del Signo, Príncipe Odín Jr.
3) Súper Astro Jr. vs Oro Jr. [lightning]
4) Black Panther, Blue Panther Jr., Rey Cometa vs Kawato San, Misterioso Jr., Olímpico
5) Atlantis Jr., El Audaz, Titán vs Hijo del Villano III, Máscara Año 2000, Villano IV
6) Místico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero
A show. Seems weird Kawato beat Audaz and Audaz is higher up than him. Villano IV is back for the first time since May.
Note the Saturday Arena Coliseo show is the Lucha Libre Real Liger farewell one. CMLL’s not put up that lineup on their website. Dr. Wagner Jr. is teasing doing something with old rival Liger while he’s in Mexico. A match w be politically difficult at the moment.
IWRG (SUN) 07/21/2019 Arena Naucalpan
1) Brazo De Oro Jr. & Manchas vs Death Metal & Neza Kid
2) Iraki & Lilith Dark vs Ludark Shaitan & Zuzuki
3) Atomic Star, Black Dragón, Príncipe Aéreo vs Dragón Fly, La Mosca, Marado
4) Aeroboy, Aramis, Imposible vs Demonio Infernal, Eterno, Lunatik Extreme
5) Hijo De Dos Caras, Hijo del Alebrije, Máscara Sagrada Jr. vs El Hijo del Medico Asesino, Galeno Del Mal, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Trauma I, Trauma II vs El Mesías, Hijo de Canis Lupus, Máscara Año 2000 Jr.
Wagner & Mesias are into headline next week, with a former TripleMania victim involved. The fourth match looks good.
Tr3S Caidas (SAT) 07/27/2019 Auditorio de Tijuana, Tijuana, Baja California
1) Galáctico & Galaxy vs Centurión & Príncipe
2) Terror Azteca vs Torito Negro, Xperia, Unicorno [Tr3s Caidas CRUISER]
3) Black Spider, Rubi Gardenia, Ryan Kidd vs Ciclope, Cinico, Scream
4) Puma King vs Black Destiny
5) Bestia 666 & Rey Horus vs Flamita & Flip Gordon and Jonathan & Tony Casanova
6) Dragón Lee (CMLL) vs Bandido (Indie)
Tr3s Caidas has run the much smaller Arena Big Punch until this show. The top matches should be good but this seems like a big step up in building size.
