What happened:

Niebla Roja kept his title. Diamante Azul & Tiger won a tournament which seems unlikely to ever be mentioned again. Puebla luchador Siki Osama Jr. wrestled here for the first time in four years.

Thoughts:

team hand movements

Luciferno showed less in the title match than expected. Groin kicks in the third fall are not particularly great offense. He did feel fresher than Mephisto doing the same match but Niebla Roja got more out of that one. The only really bad moment was when a misaimed catapult appeared to send Niebla Roja’s face into the bottom rope. There just wasn’t much of memorable moments either.

The incredible pairs tournament started with whoever’s running the music not paying attention and playing the Guerreros theme for both Tiger & Diamante Azul and Audaz & Hechicero. It never seemed like it got on track and none of the matches were positive standouts. The last quarterfinal was a standout for the wrong reasons, going absurdly long for no obvious reason. It wasn’t particularly good or compelling, it didn’t involve teams that were feuding or going to the final, it just seemed to get lost somewhere. Arkalis hanging around for a while after Vangellys was beat (and walked to the back, totally disinterested in this match) but it didn’t feel like a moment of survival, it felt tedious. It cost the final matches from having any siginifacant time and cost my interest from the rest of this.

Audaz & Hechicero were the most fun of the makeshift teams and were done after one. Tiger & Diamante Azul seemed to be having fun and Stuka threw himself into being a rudo for a few minutes. Malayo again got a really big chance on this show and didn’t seem particularly interested. Stigma has the rap of being overpushed because he’s part of the family that’s run his building forever, but he’s still better than Malayo. There’s no great young rudo here but I still don’t understand why other people are in that spot at least from time to time.

Siki Osama Jr. seemed to still be a good base and better than the average Puebla local in his return to the building. He’s so tall relative to the tecnicos that it seemed tricker to work with him; the first fall finish looked didn’t come close to hitting, but he and Tigre Rojo did better later on. The announcers welcomed him back like he’d be around a while, so we’ll see how good he can do with others.
