CMLL (FRI) 08/31/2018 Arena México [CMLL, Estrellas del Ring, Lucha Central, Marca, MedioTiempo, Notimex, Record, SuperLuchas, The Gladiatores]
1) Akuma & El Coyote b Arkalis & Robin
Rudos took 1/3.
2) Amapola, Dalys, Reyna Isis b La Jarochita, Lluvia, Marcela
Rudas took 1/3.
3) Felino, Negro Casas, Tiger b Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Ciber the Main Man, Scharly Rock Star, The Chris b Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero
straight falls. Guerreros were DQed for taking The Chris’ cane and using it on Kaoz in the first, then Cibernetico beat UG in the second.
5) Matt Taven b Cavernario
Taven took 2/3, winning after a foul. Volador & Rush were seconds and got involved.
6) Diamante Azul, LA Park, Volador Jr. DQ Bushi, Naito, Rush
Tecnicos took 1/3, the last when EVIL jumped in the ring and attacked the referee t stop a count.
CMLL promos: Arkalis (introducing himself), Clan Casas (Tiger wants a trios title shot), Guerreros (still want an apuesta match after they win), Klan Kaoz (also still want an apuesta match after they win) and Los Ingobernables. The Kaoz/Guerreros always feels like the normal challenges which don’t go anywhere, but this is a lot of effort being spent on Kaoz for simply a trios title match.
Press room interviews; Rush & Naito (Estrellas del Ring, +LuchaTV and more +LuchaTV), Klan Kaoz (Estrellas del Ring, +LuchaTV), NGD (Estrellas del Ring), Cavernario (+LuchaTV), Clan Casas (+LuchaTV), the rudas (+LuchaTV),
I won’t see this show for a few days. It sounded like the Taven/Cavernario match was good if not must see, the main event was more an experience than a good match, Kaoz/Guerreros was over this week, and the third match might have been the best match on the show. Casas beating NGD seems to be going nowhere though. CMLL had LA Park work opposite BUSHI in the main event, so as to not distracted from the Volador/Rush build. I don’t want to complain about seeing LA Park, but putting him in matches with Rush at all at this point is awkward.

Matches 5/6/7 were all said to be pretty good, with Match 4 being more about the novelty of having those people involved. This is not available on VOD now but will likely be later. Expo Lucha is streaming again at 2pm local (4pm CT) with the Legends show.

Fantasma unmasked Psycho and fouled the other two.
Elite pointed out they’re now 2-0 against AAA. The next AAA vs ELITE show is in about three weeks in Tijuana. The Elite social media mentioning results is unusual for them, they haven’t done that since coming back. A DTU match is also quite random since it’s not like they’re normally anywhere close to Tijuana. Strong turnout.
AAA streams Sunday night in Monterrey. The show time is listed as 6:30pm, so expect the matches to start after 7pm CT. Main event is scheduled as LA Park vs Psycho Clown vs Hijo del Fantasma. I suspect matches on the show to change after the events of TripleMania, but there’s a good lineup of wrestlers listed. There’s a lot of AAA streams in a short amount of time (TripleMania last week, two tapings next week), not to mention the Expo Lucha and All in taking up your time, but this might be a taping worth checking out something this weekend.
The MMM show had Lucha Underground executive producer Eric Van Wagenen on talking more about his new show, though also on his thoughts on Pentagon & a WWE deal. You should also listen for the important story of why the tacos at the wedding had no meat. Some details on other situations from the podcast: the visas for the Mexican wrestlers finally came in three weeks after tapings finished. They have plans to get that started much sooner next year, in case there are the same delays. Also, Dante Fox was not cleared by LU’s doctors to wrestle at the start of the season. He will eventually be on this season. This was all also kind of a problem with the tight taping schedule. At least one thing will change in season 5: Van Wagenen heard the Ice Temple is being condemned (and seemed to agree with that concept), so they’re going to need a new venue again. Or maybe an old one – there was more positive talk about the previous Temple.
