What happened:
Negro Casas pinned Mephisto in both falls of the main event to set up a title match next week. Mephisto accepted, though he took a DDTed from Casas in the process.
Zacarias had his foot on the rope on the pin in the micro match. Guapito is still better than most of these other refs.
Thoughts:
Another mostly skippable show.
Last week’s version of the main event seemed a little smoother, though this one was a bit more effective in getting over where they want to go. Casas snuck out fall wins twice, so maybe he can sneak out a couple more next week. Mistico seemed to again have a quiet night, though he’s own a few dozen of those. Diamante Azul had one hiccup and didn’t do the greatest job catching Mistico on his dive
The semimain rushed match which still did enough not to feel like a cheat, but didn’t last long. I would like longer matches, but I don’t expect these guys to switch it up much anyway. I’d actually like to see the openers work at this pace, but at least this one kept moving.
The tercera match was another enjoyable match with the micros. Nothing Microman has to do looks easy, and it’s amazing he’s able to do all what he has to do – Gallito looks like a short guy who can do stuff in comparison, while Microman has to throw himself to get over the top on a sunset flip. This one was good, but the surprise and the atmosphere of the Sunday makes that one preferable on it’s own, and they also just ha a better laid out match that time.
The second match was the usual long dragging match Oro looks more energetic of late and Lestat did a couple things. Nitro did a suplex, clearly gearing up for his trip to France. It amazing how long Canelo Casas has had a dumb finisher and it still sticks out at how bad it is. I get used to a lot of bad CMLL stuff that just doesn’t even register as being notable any more, but Canelo’s finish sticks out as bad to me. It was more terrible than usual.
The opener was another one of those early Puebla where they went really long in the opener, both becoming boring and requiring them to hurry thru the rest of the match. Vega and Rey Apocalipsis seemed to match up well with each other for about 2.5 falls, then Vega lost his balance on a springboard and that was the end of that. Third fall finish seemed like a mess, with either Tirantes or the wrestlers forgetting who the captain was – it seemed to be Tirantes fault, but said something harsh to Rey Apocalipsis after he finally returned to be pinned.
