Recapped: 03/04/2017
What happened: Monster & Murder betrayed Dr. Wagner. It wasn’t built to in the match or explained after, and Wagner won anyway thanks to them attacking Psycho Clown too. Perhaps if AAA keeps trying mystery angles, one will pay off.
A new look Cuervo & Scoria won a tag match. (The words Xinetez and Zorro are now on the forbidden list.) Soul Rocker cheated to beat Bengala. AAA announced some of the Rey de Reyes matches.
Tirantes was the referee in all three matches and played a neutral referee this week.
There were 26:01 of match time on this show, up about a minute from last week. There were 16:57 of entrance time on this show.
What was good: I liked the three way tag match with no reservations. The opener wasn’t as good as those have been and the main event was a typical AAA main event.
Where can I watch it: It’s on my channel, but looks much better on AAA’s channel.
Last Week: Fantasma & Texano won a tag team match when Pagano & Mesias were barely interested in being a team. Aerostar landed badly, and Argenis & Carta are also feuding. Mini Psycho & Octagoncito want title shots. Presumably they’re going to follow up on that someday.
Match 1: Atomic Boy, Bengala, Lanzeloth, Máscara de Bronce vs Dave The Clown, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Mocho Cota Jr., Soul Rocker
Gimnasio Benito Juárez, Cuautitlán, Estadio de México, 02/11/2017
Video: thecubsfan
Winner: rudos (Soul Rocker foul Bengala)
Match Time: 7:00
Notes: Soul Rocker has a small plastic guitar. It’s his birthday, so perhaps he got it as a thoughtful gift. Finish saw Devil Rocker almost run into Hijo de Tirantes, Tirantes cover up and turn around, and Devil Rocker foul Bengala while Tirantes was looking away. Rudos attacked the técnicos after the match for no particular reason. Entrances for this match went 6:15.
Review: [ok] more people in this match became a determent; the rudos could not get out of each others way in the early portion. It turns out three guys can stomp someone at the same time, but the fourth guy is just left looking confused. This worked better when the técnicos in charge, not just because técnico offense was flashier, but because they got some bodies out of the way. Mascara de Bronce did not have a strong night. They had he and Dave work a brief sequence where Dave looked fine, until Pirata replaced him and Pirata looked so much better. It turns out Pirata is really good. Atomic Boy was also good in his return to TV, though a little lost at where he was supposed to dive. The final kick of this match was the best, though the finish was so unnecessary. I do not understand why you’re doing referee distracts and fouls in this match, I think Bengala is not going to have his non existence momentum hurt by taking a clean fall. Maybe they’ll go somewhere with that and the beating after the match, but it’s probably just nonsense to get Tirantes a reaction.
Match 2: Faby Apache & Mary Apache vs Averno & Chessman and Dark Cuervo & Dark Scoria
Gimnasio Benito Juárez, Cuautitlán, Estadio de México, 02/11/2017
Video: thecubsfan
Winner: Dark Cuervo & Dark Scoria (Scoria top rope rope legdrop on Chessman)
Match Time: 6:38
Notes: With the Xinetez done, Scoria has reverted all the way to his original crazy person character, while Cuervo is maybe the Mexican Punisher but I’m not sure. They’re no longer wearing a facepaint (though their faces seem so pale as if the years of facepaint aren’t going to ever wipe off.) Announcers make sure to note they have new gimmicks and talk about justice for them after their win. Averno is wearing jean overalls and a sideways hat to the ring, and that’s right level of absurd for him. Apaches are ok with not winning because OGT lost.
Review: [good] an action match with the clear and obvious purpose of giving a Cuervo & Scoria a good clean win. Someone, no one the announcers will name, walked out on them, but it’s fine, they’re actually better than ever and the win proves they never need that unnamed person at all. It felt a little bit like AAA was projecting, but OK – it means the usual Tirantes nonsense was stripped out of this match and Chessman & Averno were working more like the dream team of super bases I’ve been hoping for months. Mary didn’t have the smoothest match but the match kept going so quickly that any missteps didn’t stick out. Cuervo & Scoria got better as the match went along and really giving them that clean win helps right now.

The Rey de Reyes card is mentioned! Hijo del Fatnasma, Texano and Mundo for the Rey de Reyes. (They make use of the entrances from Guerra de Titanes for Fantasma and Mundo, which is notable for them showing them at all.) Aerostar vs Super Fly, mask vs hair – there will only be one winner. Taya versus a winner of an elimination match, and we’re shown the lienup of that. Flash back to Guerra de Titanes where Shani asks for a title shot, which leads into

Quien es Lady Shani. Besides talking about your career, it seems like you’re required to talk about how much you love AAA.

Match 3: Angélico, La Parka, Psycho Clown vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Monsther Clown, Murder Clown
Gimnasio Benito Juárez, Cuautitlán, Estadio de México, 02/11/2017
Video: thecubsfan
Winner: rudos (Dr. Wagner pin Psycho Clown)
Match Time: 12:23
Notes: About 10 minutes, murder and Monster attack Wagner for no obvious reason, then help up Psycho Clown to drop him with a powerbomb as well. It’ s not built to at all or explained at all. They walk out on the match after double teaming powerbombing Psycho Clown. Wagner crawls over after 10 seconds and covers Psycho Clown. Wagner stop selling after the match and tells the crowd that no one, no clown will stop him from unmasking Psycho Clown. He unmasks Psycho Clown right now, though there’s an edit to accomplish it.
Review: [ok] Every AAA main event ever. Murder & Monster turning on Psycho has meant they’re in a lot of main events. It has not been as bad as it could been but in no way has it been good. The angle with them made no sense and determined the whole match, so there’s that. The only thing Angelico got to do in the técnico showcase section was his dive, and his dive was caught and slammed and was out of the match. Also, they either had horrible camera work or cut way from his apron knee smash on Murder Clown because Murder Clown took it badly. Great use of him in a main event.
The show ends with another five minute piece on La Llave de la Gloria’s first day, which is well done. It looks like the first part, since they don’t make it to the ring on what we see here. The Jessy who advanced turns out to be exotico Jessy Ventura. Lunatik Xtreme also turns up in this.
