AAA on Televisa: 2016-12-10

whatever

Recapped: 12/12/2016

What happened: Hijo del Tirantes cheated to help the OGT, which may set up a match with Faby versus Hijo del Tirantes. Mundo beat Garza with help with Taya (thus proving Chavana made no difference either way.) Pentagon still wants a match with Mundo. Nothing really was advanced.

What was good: Nothing. The second match would’ve been rated among the worst of the year if I hadn’t given up on caring by now. It’s the same heel ref stuff that seems to get over live in it’s ridiculous but is so tiring. None of the matches interested me in the least, even when people I often like. This Juarez show as one of the least entertaining of the year and a hard way to close that year off.

AAA started 2016 boasting about having the greatest collection of young talent since their glory days. This taping is definitely not reflective of any great talent base, and it feels like they’re very far away from being that AAA as the year ends. They couldn’t help but put together good matches a year ago, and now it’s a struggle to come up with the next match which might be great on this show.

Where can I watch it: It’s on AAA’s channel.

La Semena Pasada: Pagano beat Psycho Clown. Perros del Mal beat the Clowns, who beat up security. Pimpinela defeated Mamba.

Match 1: Big Mami, Niño Hamburguesa, Octagoncito vs El Apache, Lady Shani, Mini Psycho Clown
Gimnasio Municipal Jose Neri Santos, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, 11/20/2016

Winner: rudos (Lady Shani pin Big Mami)
Match Time: 9:40

Review: [below average] If you like people doing corner sits and smashes, this is the match for you. This was not the match for me. Lady Shani & Big Mami faced off, and the first thought the announcers had was to debate which one is more beautiful. Bless Shani for trying all sorts of cool kicks in a situation where no one wants her to get over – even with her getting a token win, it came on a messed up looking spot. The Apache/Nino Hamburguesa segment seems heavily edited, and it wasn’t for time. They still left Niño and Psycho blowing a spot. Big Mami probably shouldn’t have a stop where her opponents have to come to as stop for about 10 seconds to set up. She’s really not that good. I don’t understand why Octagoncito had to slap his teammate to setup his dive. Apache was less into this match than I was.

a spot on this show I liked
blown spot? intended spot? no idea

Match 2: Faby Apache & Mary Apache vs Averno & Chessman
Gimnasio Municipal Jose Neri Santos, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, 11/20/2016
Video:
luchalibreaaatv

Winner: Tirantes (though technically Averno & Chessman by COR)
Match Time: 12:48
Notes: Mary has a new, more revealing outfit. Tirantes helps the rudos, the Apaches come back, Tirantes refuses to count a submission on Averno. Tirantes just doesn’t count it, he won’t break up the hold, but he will help him get to the ropes. The match continues, with the Apaches dumbly trying to win the match just like normal, and Tirantes occasionally counting the pins like normal and occasionally refusing to count, with no rhyme or reason. Tirantes pulls Averno back in the ring to beat the count, and kicks Mary off the apron to finish the count. Faby Apache challenges Hijo del Tirantes to a match. They end up brawling, and then so does everyone. Apache makes the save for his daughters.

Review: [below average] the usual inane Tirantes bit. It’s impossible to take this as anything but comedy, and it’s not even particularly good comedy. It’s just a joke. It’s really dumb they’re taking big bumps in something that’s all about the heel referee, but everything about this is kind of dumb.

Faby tornillo
this is too big of a spot for this match

Match 3: Garza Jr., La Parka, Texano Jr. vs Brian Cage, Johnny Mundo, Marty Casaus
Gimnasio Municipal Jose Neri Santos, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, 11/20/2016
Video:
luchalibreaaatv

Winner: Team Trump
Match Time: 11:32
Notes: Casaus is wearing a LU shirt. The “Team Trump” name seems de-emphasized, though Cage is still wearing the shirt. Garza is so angry about how Mundo did him wrong that he’s smiling and posing with fans all the way to the ring. Cobarde II accompanies Texano to the ring. With La Parka doing a matador spot, Mary dives head first into the barricade comically, and busts open his nose in the process. He’s bleeding pretty decently the rest of the match.

After a long, pointless match, Garza kicks out of a Mundo standing Spanish fly and goes for his moonsault. Taya trips him up. There’s a weird edited, and Mundo lands the Fin de Mundo. It’s the finish, but Garza makes a point of getting a shoulder up and kicking out.

The Clowns wander out and beat up the tecnicos, which mostly confuses the gringos. They go with it. Daga, Joe Lider and Pntagon run out and make the save, though they’re not running too great. Pentagon swears at Mundo and wants a date for their title match. Parka takes the microphone from Pentagon, to try to get the last word, but they cut him off – either on TV or live, it’s not clear.

Review: [ok] The best match on the show, which means nothing. It was alright in a usual AAA fashion. The rudos weren’t entirely taking this seriously – the double worm spot felt like doing silliness to see what they could get away with – but it’s a La Parka match so how would you take it seriously. La Parka celebrated his anniversary by being terrible at wrestling. Marty was game for anything and did some dumb things, and probably went too far with it. When a guy won’t jump for a headscissors, it’s tough to do the headscissors.

double worm, double elbow drop
Parka is not good
things got bloody for Marty
