CMLL Martes de Nuevo Valores: 2016-12-06

ROTYs

Recapped: 12/06/2016
What happened: Ephesto pulled Guerrero’s mask to set up a DQ. Pequeño Violencia was hurt or in no condition to wrestle or something, and CMLL was so angry at him that let him go back to the ring a second time.

In the wrap up, JCR very slightly teased big shows yet to come for this year, but it was such a small thing that it could’ve just been a generic mention with nothing in mind. Maybe this sentence is just proof I watched the entire thing.

What was good: The fourth match, with the Panthers, Drone and the Nuevo Dinamitas, was great.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

Match 1: Acero & Aéreo vs Pequeño Universo 2000 & Pequeño Violencia
Arena México, 12/06/2016

  1. rudos
    • Pequeño Violencia reverse figure four Acero (4:38)
    • Pequeño Universo senton Aereo (5:03)
  2. tecnicos
    • Aereo missile dropkick Pequeño Universo (2:57)
    • Aereo middle elbow drop Pequeño Violencia (3:13)
  3. tecnicos
    • Acero inside cradle Peuqeno Violencia (1:18)
    • Aereo northern lights suplex Pequeno Universo (1:40)

Winner: tecnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 9:56
Notes: The sound is off for the first four minutes. Violencia decided not to bother with his facepaint and his effort is about the level of someone who can’t bother with his facepaint tonight. Pequeño Violenca appears to quit at the start of an exchanging with Acero, changing chops but not interested in doing spots. Acero ducks a chop and inside cradles him for a weridly early three. The doctor checks on Pequeño Violencia, but he doesn’t appear to be hurt.

Review: [bad] Pequeño Violencia had no interest in being there and didn’t try, Pequeño Universo isn’t any good, and this match wasn’t any good. Acero & Aereo were unhappy after winning, the universal sign of a disaster. There’s a problem with CMLL’s training school or it’s decision making if they can’t find better rudos than these two after all this time. This match shouldn’t have happened.

this was not good
this was Violencia telling Acero to just pin him
this was actually good

Match 2: Príncipe Diamante, Robin, Sangre Imperial vs  Inquisidor, Metálico, Nitro

Arena México, 12/06/2016

  1. rudos
    • Inquisidor frontcracker Principe Diamante (8:54)
    • Metálico sit down powerbomb Sangre Imperial (9:29)
  2. técnicos
    • Sangre Imperial moonsault Nitro (4:47)
  3. rudos
    • Nitro top rope splash Principe Diamante (4:36)

Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 18:52
Notes: Inquisidor replaces Arkangel with no notice. Arkangel hasn’t been around in a couple weeks now. Diamante does not wear the giant wings this time out, but his fan club is at the show again and all wearing matching hats. (Diamante is worth whatever they’re paying him at this point.) Inquisidor himself has generally disappeared from TV & the internet. This is his first broadcast appearance in two months.

Review: [below average] The stretch after the rudos took over the first fall from the rudos, which is just rudos getting in their offense on the técnicos in the idea they might win the fall, is as much a run-on as this sentence. Metálico seemed unsafe with his powerbomb both times he used it, so it’s probably on him. Similarly, Nitro landed as hard as possible on Principe Diamante because his knees are too hurt to land on, because just not doing a doing top rope splash is not an option. Three técnicos doing top rope moves in a row to beat Nitro probably sounded impressive on paper, but they were very slow to set them up and it seemed much less impressive as a result. The rest of their match wasn’t much better.

Sangre didn’t seem like he got over until late
run up the corner armdrag was good!

Match 3: Star Jr. vs Raziel in a lightning match
Arena México, 12/06/2016

Winner: Raziel (legtrap mounted wrisltock)
Match Time: 8:16

Review: [ok] This was much better than everything before it, though that’s not a high bar. There were some good spots in this, though it seemed like not much impressive or not much at all in between those spots. They just had a few moves they wanted to get in and some of them (Star’s dive, the top rope Falcon Arrow) looked pretty good. I feel like I’ve called three different moves the Raziel Driver in the last few weeks, mostly because it’s been so long since he’s used it. Got to get it back in order before Fantasticamania.

Match 4: Blue Panther Jr., Drone, The Panther vs El Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
Arena México, 12/06/2016

  1. rudos
    • Sansón knee driver Blue Panther Jr. (2:35)
  2. técnicos
    • Blue Panther Jr. German suplex Sansón (1:06)
  3. técnicos
    • Blue Panther Jr. nudo lagunero Cuatrero (6:18)
    • The Panther frog splash Sansón (7:09)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 10:50

Review: [great] a really fun sprint, the likes we don’t really get on this show. They were going full speed from the start, and the quick first two fall finishes made the tease of the third fall ending the same way really work. Plus, even as quick as they were, they were packed with action, they kept fighting between the falls, and the third fall was just action. It wasn’t a lot of crazy moves or every spot they could do, but it was tense fighting and pinfall break ups. Forastero and Drone seemed like they had the most trouble fitting it, but they had their moments where it went well (and Drone got to do all sorts of dives.) This should be the Tuesday standard, not the exception, but at least we got it one week. Blue Panther Jr. versus Sansón is going to main event a CMLL Friday night show before the end of the decade, and that doesn’t even feel like I’m stepping out on a limb.

Match 5: Blue Panther Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Pierroth
Arena México, 12/06/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Rey Cometa blocked cradle Ephesto (4:09)
  2. técnicos
    • DQ Ephesto [unmask Guerrero Maya] (4:17)

Winner: tecnicos (1/2)
Match Time: 8:26
Notes: The music guy starts to play Angel de Oro’s music for the next match and takes a while to figure out what’s gone wrong. Despite his awful performance, Pequeño Violencia back out for Pierroth’s entrance in a suit and mask with the Ingobernables banner. Luciferno throws a kick at Maya before the whistle, which starts a brawl. The técnicos get the best of the brawl earlier, but the rudos magically turn it around. After a delay, there’s a post match back and forth. (Cometa is walked to the back by the doctor, so he might have hurt something on his dive.) Maya challenges Ephesto to a super libre match. Ephesto walks off without answering. He does shake his head no, then comes back to the ring, then leaves the ring.

Review: [ok] the early brawling didn’t do much for me (and it was about this point where I was regretting watching two of these shows in one night), but I guess it was a good showcase for Pierroth. The match picked up as they got back into the ring with the técnicos comeback, and the second fall was a bit better. It didn’t really progress all that far, and I’m surprised they had Ephesto get pinned by Cometa in the first fall if the feud is meant to be with Maya, but the ways of CMLL are beyond me.

Cometa tope con giro

Match 6: Ángel de Oro, Atlantis, Carístico vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja
Arena México, 12/06/2016

  1. Guerreros
    • Gran Guerrero Pulpo Guerrero Atlantis (3:27)
    • Niebla Roja flapjack kick angel de Oro (3:46)
  2. técnicos
    • Carístico huracanrana Gran Guerrero (1:59)
    • Angel de Oro mecedora Niebla Roja (2:05)
  3. técnicos
    • Atlantida on Euforia (3:52)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 9:42

Review: [ok] standard trios match tend the night and send everyone home happy. Nothing really memorable and not too long but it didn’t feel rushed and the técnicos got to show off. Carístico looked good and the Guerreros are a good fit for him. The rudos all looked about the same, but that’s a positive sign for Niebla Roja. They’re definitely a lesser star power group whenever Último Guerrero isn’t involved, but they’re still a very good working team.

teamwork!
tecnicos win
