Sky Team dive

Recapped: 11/12/2016

What happened:  The Sky Team kept the trios title, with Valiente saving the day for his team. Marco & Máximo feuded comically in their match.

What was good: Main event was good. The incredible teams match was better than some of the recent ones, but nothing you need to see.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

Review: [OK] I guess this was an average lucha match performed sufficiently well, but these first two matches were so aggressively boring that it made it a struggle to continue watching them. I gave this one more time to see if Lestat came back with any purpose; it didn’t seem that way. He was OK, if slower, though not as slow as Black Tiger tends to be on his tricky moves. The double pin spot took great effort to set up, and I’m actively disinterested in any combination of the usual Puebla guys feuding.

Match Time: 14:58

Review: [ok] Feels like a repeat. I know I’ve seen a celebrating Okumura take a German suplex from Blue Jr. before. The everyone do a backbreaker spot is picking up in popularity among this set, though it’s weird to see Blue Jr. in the Atlantis spot. Misterioso lost when he though he was going to win. This was OK, but those other times were generally better.

  2. Team Marco

  3. Team Rush
    • Máximo Beso del Muerte Marco Corleone (4:40)
    • Pierroth inside cradle Shocker (4:40)
    • Rush inside cradle Vangellys (4:40)

Winner: Team Rush (1/3)
Match Time: 10:02
Notes: This time, Marco and Máximo decided they wouldn’t hurt each other and refused to attack their normal partner. Máximo even tried dragging Marco to his corner to make a tag, but Vangellys & Shocker refused to tag in. Marco finally hit Máximo, and Máximo went nuts on him – his partners had to pull him off. They made peace in the third fall, but Máximo still kissed Marco set up the finish.

Review: [ok] better than usual in one way, Máximo and Marco did their own little story and that’s much better than them just forgetting their friendship for a meaningless match on a Puebla show. The rest of the match really wasn’t much and this format is exhausting.

Winner: Sky Team (2/3)
Match Time: 14:19

Review: [good] This match didn’t feel special early on, but got more there by the end. It turned out to be a good showcase for Mistico, who got to do all sorts of moves in the third fall, plus there was the subtle story of Volador getting beat but new Universal Champion Valiente saving it for his team. I have no believe it’ll go anywhere, but it was nice on this week. There were some spots that didn’t go great and they didn’t really do anything to overcome the impression that these were just three random rudos thrown together, but the work was good.
