10 Most Often Wrestlers on AAA TV Tapings in 2008:

6) Cibernetico (28)
6) Mesias (28)

If I just keep those who are still with the company and who didn’t spend a lot of time out hurt (that we know of), it’s

1) Espiritu
2) Cuervo
3) Escoria
4) Ozz
5) Alebrije
6) Joe Lider
7) “Alan” (as Alan; need to link it Gato Eveready here)
8) Histeria
9) Gran Apache
10) Psicosis II

Top 10 Risers
1) Jack Evans (0 tapings last year, 29 this year)
2) Teddy Hart (1 => 28)
3) Gato Eveready (1 => 24) – this kinda balances out
4) Electroshock (9 => 31)
5) Konnan (4 => 24) – a lot more matches this year
6) Mari Apache (5 => 21)
7) Psycho Clown (1 => 16)
8) Killer Clown (1 => 16)
9) Zombie Clown (1 => 16)
10) Ultimo Gladiador (0 => 12)

Since you’re going to ask, Billy Boy wrestled on 51% of the tapings last year (24) and 46% of the tapings this year.

Methodology: Wrestlers only get credit for shows they wrestled on (and only once per show). Making an interview segment appearances is not counted. Only matches which aired are actually counted, and I may be a little off there. Dates are based on when the show as recorded, not when the show aired. Since the 11/09 was taped for TV, the matches from there were counted though you could certainly make a case they should not.

  1. FWIW, I’m aware SoloLuchas says Dos Caras Jr. is going to WWE for the Rumble, but I’m ignoring it until someone with a better recent track record on jumps reports it.

    IIRC, Killings left AAA months before he actually debutted, and he’d already worked in WWE rings. Dos coming on about two weeks notice would be different.

  2. Man, I wish Dos Caras Jr. would come for the Rumble.. It’d sure perk me up after learning tonight I’ll have to see John Cena fight JBL (blech!) again.

  3. @thecubsfan: If you think the rumors of him leaving have been overdone – just wait till he shows up and begins jobbing to everyone in sight. Then the real fun will begin.;)

  4. There’s not much especially…special about Dos Caras Jr. that I can see. I mean, he’s from a famous family, but I think Vince was interested simply because he spoke English.

  5. Plus his “size”. But the WWE has that machine down in Florida that pops out generic looking 6’7″, 270 pound freaks in tiny tights so Dos Jr. will seem like a nobody at his size. He has no chance of succeeding. Maybe he’ll be given a quick chance at the start but everything is going against him and within weeks he’ll be getting buried and that’s when the fun starts. Not only will the reaction of the ByL foristas be fantastic when they see him jobbing to (insert generic WWE wrestler) but Dos Jr. comes equipped with an attitude that he deserves to be handed the world b/c he can legit kick anyone on the WWE roster’s ass. My early prediction is he packs up his bags and just leaves the country when he gets unhappy instead of riding out the contract.

  6. Oh god not the Dos Caras rumors again. Just wait till Vince Unmasks him. He better job to Mike Knox’s beard or Hornwoggle in a Tzuki mask.

  7. WWE had well known Luchadores in Juventud Guerrera, Psychosis, and Super Crazy … what makes Dos Caras Jr. think he is going to be treated any better? The ONLY masked Luchadore that WWE has ever pushed was Rey Misterio Jr., and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

  8. But Rey is not a foreigner. He was born in the US, so he’s as American as anyone else born here. But the mentality in wrestling is that he’s a Mexican because he comes from the world of Lucha, was trained in Tijuana, etc….. so your point is well taken.

    Would be funny if Dos Caras Jr., shows up at Smackdown tonight for a dark match.

  9. Pat Tanaka was born in Hawaii and yet not a single redneck idiot WWE fan wouldn’t say “hey man – that’s a Japanese dude!” To any moron who watches the WWE – Rey is Mexican.

  10. It’s not just the rednecks, it’s the Mexicans too who think Rey is from Mexico.

    Pat Tanaka. What memories. Have you been watching AWA on ESPN Classics?

    My point with Rey is simply that he got over in part b/c he has the advantage of being American and understanding our culture better than someone like Dos Caras ever will.
