12/20: Mexico, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 12/19 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, ESTO]
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Angel de Oro b Calígula & Méssala
2) Amapola, Hiroka, Medussa b India Sioux, Marcela, Princesa Blanca
3) Flash b Pólvora [lightning]
4) Felino, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Mascara Dorada, Máximo, Valiente
5) Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr. b La Máscara, Toscano, Volador Jr.
6) Dos Caras Jr., Mark Corleone, Shocker b Black Warrior, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Ovaciones went with the fourth match as it’s lead story, for whatever reason. Tcnicos won the main event fine. Terrible yanked Volador’s mask and Texano covers him for the win in the semimain.

Flash/Polvora is said to be good. Princesa Blanca and Marcela did not get along in their match and someone may be turning ruda there.

Earlier this week, at a forum on contact sports organized by the DF Commission of Sports, luchadors appealed to the government for better working conditions. The wrestlers appearing before the group, which includes Hijo del Santo, Electroshock, Lady Apache and Pirata Morgan, are seeking a hospital dedicated to sports injuries and a new law requiring promoters to set aside a portion of their revenue to pay wrestlers hospital bills in case of injury. Santo noted only the top stars can afford health insurance and most luchadors are completely unprotected if they suffer an injury. Government officials said they’d work on a bill on this (which would cover all combat sports, including lucha) and would be voted on 2009 and potentially take effect in 2010.

Blue Panther will be recognized tomorrow by Gomez Palacio for his career in lucha libre.

SuperLuchas has a long letter from Ultimo Chingon, who explains his name and how a Mexican wrestler ended up in Peru. He claims to be the former Mandibula, who wrestled in CMLL in 2001 and 2002.

Luchaworld has Robert on CMLL 52MX 06/02/07 and FSE 06/03/07 and Gimnasio Nuevo Leon (01/13/08)

CMLL (TUE) 12/23 Arena Mexico
1) Pegasso & Rey Cometa vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
3) Flash, Leono, Mictlán vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Skandalo
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Felino, Vangelis
5) Dos Caras Jr., Toscano, Volador Jr. vs Lizmark Jr., Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

So who wrestles in the main event when Lizmark doesn’t show? Looks like Comta and Pegasso will have to work their way up.

CMLL (FRI) 12/26 Arena Mexico
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Lady Apache, Marcela, Princesa Blanca vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
3) Angel de Oro vs Skandalo [lightning]
4) Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Satánico, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
5) Dos Caras Jr., Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
6) La Máscara, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Looks like the one one matches are going to be ongoing for the time being. Mistico took a long one week break.

  1. So no Polvora/Flash even with the extra 15 minutes. They’re just filling it up with even more shit.

    Idiots.

  2. Haven’t you learned to not get your hopes up?:) The Lightning match will air on Puebla TV! *L*

I just hope Momentos shows Sombra De Plata’s finisher from last week’s opener.

  3. I wish someone else could do that springboard splits thing Dorada does so I could officially stop cheering for him.

  4. Damn.

What was it – something leading from that pic where he was on the rudos shoulders in the corner?

  5. Yeah, supposedly it was his awesome roll-up that he always does where he spins off the rudos shoulders into his finishing roll-up but I’ve never seen it done off the second rope.

And I guess I never will.:P Weird that they showed a highlight from the segunda, went back to the opener and then showed another clip from the segunda.

  6. BTW, photos of the Tuesday show went up TODAY. I am avoiding since I’ve gone this long anyways, might as well wait a few more hours to see the segunda myself.:)

  7. what’s interesting is how the crowd noise comes from whatever the live announcers pick up in the background. That’s why you don’t hear the bodyslams, chops, etc…

They did falls 2 and 3 in one segment in the main. Usually, each fall gets it’s own segment and they go to a commercial.

  8. And Ohara isn’t in the match, Dr. X is.

I figured they wouldn’t put Rey and Pegasso on tv this early.

  9. One hour on C3 is still more wrestling than 1:45 on Televisa. See how quick that Corona spot ran, and then back to action.

Why did they air a promo of a fan saying Lucha is a work, and the wrestlers know how to fall?

  10. Yeah, wouldn’t suprise me if the ‘shitty rudo v lazy and now shitty rudo’ inevitable snorefest ends up as some kind of ironman match.

Well, they ain’t gonna bore me cos i’m switching off after my Virus fix. :)

I can’t even be assed with the top end of CMLL TV anymore unless Volador’s involved. Minis and mens segundas/occasional terceras is it for me these days.

  11. The sad thing is CMLL’s roster is 85% flyers now. There is just very little motivation except on rare occasions.

Either way, it’s still 100% better than what AAA is doing.

  12. I’m sorry, but what exactly is a “Lighting Match”? (I apologize in advance if this topic has been discussed previously.)

  13. @dave: Who knows, maybe Ras de Lona will have coverage. At the very least, they’ll send a cameraman to the airport to send them off.
