Zacarias dance party

Recapped: 06/05/2016

What happened: Cavernario and Cometa angrily agreed to a title match next week. Pierroth and La Mascara didn’t agree to anything.

What was good: I liked the third and fourth match, and the women’s trio was one of the better ones they’ve had. The main event seems like a fun match watch live, but nothing you need to go out of your way to see. This was one of their better streaming shows in a while.

Where can I watch it: It’s on my channel.

Match 1: Shockercito & Último Dragóncito vs Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Violencia

  1. rudos
    • Pequeño Violencia reverse figure four Shockercito (3:50)
    • (finished missed due to stream failing) (4:20ish)
  2. técnicos
    • Shockercito reinera Pequeño Olímpico (2:31)
    • Ultimo Dragoncito octopus Pequeño Violencia (2:44)
  3. técnicos
    • Ultimo Dragocnito huracanrana Pequeño Olímpico (3:44)
    • Shockercito rana Pequeño Violencia (4:04)

Winner: tecnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 11:08

Review: [ok] nothing much opener. The técnicos didn’t do their trickier stuff, either because it was an opener or because they couldn’t do it with this group of rudos, and they didn’t look especially good with what they did try. Pequeño Violencia seemed more professional with the veteran técnicos than he usually is with the rudos, but still wasn’t much good.

Match 2: Fuego, Pegasso, Tritón vs Fujin, Okumura, Raijin

  1. tecnicos
    • Triton 450 splash Okumura (6:29)
  2. rudos
    • Raijin double pumphandle package piledriver (Shock Arrow) Pegasso (4:10)
    • Fujin running double knee smash Fuego (4:40)
  3. rudos
    • Flashing on Fuego (3:50)
    • Okumura German suplex Triton (4:40)

Winner: rudos (2/3)
Match Time: 15:49
Notes: Triton’s head may have bounced off the mat on the German suplex at the finish. He’s down unmoving for a long time and eventually stretchered out.

Review: [good] This has an unfortunate end with Triton being stretchered out after the match. (Triton was posting memes on Facebook the next day, so he seems OK.) It was really good action prior to it, with Raijin and Fujin having added to their act a bunch since we last saw them on a stream. They had some good técnicos to work with: Triton was on, Pegasso and Fujin were trying hard. Okumura is fine, but you can already tell these kids are going to need to go up higher on the card without him once they finally start to do stuff. Hope that’s soon.

Match 3: Estrellita, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, Dalys, Zeuxis

  1. tecnicas
    • Estrelita bridging bacskslide Amapola (6:44)
    • Princesa Sugehit headscissors armbar Zeuxis (6:46)
  2. rudas
    • Amapola motocicleta Estrellita (1:59)
    • Zeuxis pumphandle powerbomb Princesa Sugehit (2:43)
  3. rudas
    • Dalys spinning powerbomb Marcela (4:35)

Winner: rudas (2/3)
Match Time: 14:04

Review: [good] This started out with an extended Estrellita/Dalys battle, which was much better than it sounds, and set the tone for a pretty high action match so far. They’ve done this match, or something really close to it, very recently and this was the much better version. They had a lot to do, they did it very fast, and they generally looked solid. Zeuxis even got in a good look tope. The person who seemed to struggle the most, weirdly, was Marcela. She had a couple of bad slips on the ropes in the third fall, but kept moving fast so there was no time to dwell on it. Right team won.

Match 4: Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr., Titán vs Cavernario, Felino, Mr. Niebla

  1. tecnicos
    • Titan cross armbreaker Felino (0:42)
    • Stuka inverted reverse tope Mr. Niebla (0:49)
  2. Peste Negra
    • Felino powerbomb Titan (4:46)
    • Mr. Niebla headscissors hammerlock Stuka Jr. (4:59)
  3. tecnicos
    • Stuka torpedo splash Felino (3:38)
    • Rey Cometa Canadian Destroyer (4:50)

Winner: tecnicos (1/3)
Match Time: 10:38
Notes: Cometa challenges Cavernario to a hair match, but gets a title match first – and an insult, which starts them brawling after the match.

Review: [good] really strong feuding between Cavernario & Cometa, just as much after the fight as during it. They were looking much more locked in the Tuesday lightning match, and the emotional of the brawl came across strong. Next week’s match comes across as if it’ll be special. The only down beat was the third fall finish coming so sudden; there really needed to be more than 5 seconds of fighting after all the build. I really liked the spot where it seemed like Cometa just lost his footing when turning to the corner, and Cavernario took the opening to head kick him. It felt really natural. Everyone else played their supporting. Titan’s arm submission is going to be the new Blue Panther armbar as far as coming out of nowhere.

Match 5: La Máscara vs Pierroth
Arena México, 06/03/2016
Video:
 thecubsfan

  1. DQ Pierroth [unmasking La Mascara] (2:35)
  2. La Mascara mask pull (5:24)

Winner: La Mascara (1/2)
Match Time: 7:50
Notes: Pierrothito & Violencia accompany Pierroth. The M is missing from the announce desk’s “CMLL” logo, but the announcers don’t seem to notice until Mascara’s head is sent into it. The first fall is one sided until Mascara sneaks in a dropkick. Pierroth unmasks him in response. Mascara leaves to the back to get a new mask, while Pierroth puts the blue steps on the ramp. Mascara sends Pierroth into them when he returns. After an eternity, Mascara sends Pierroth into the ref, then pulls Pierroth’s mask and cradles him for the win. Mascara says he doesn’t want Rush’s hair or Dragon Lee’s mask, he wants Pierroth’s mask. Pierroth says no. Mascara offers a five minute one fall mask/mask match. Pierroth walks out.

Review: [below average] Pierroth makes for a terrible técnico, so he works the match as a rudo even though it makes absolutely no sense as part of the greatest storyline. Also, he’s a terrible rudo, just putting in a boring unconvincing performance. There was effort, but it wasn’t much good, and I can’t imagine wanting to watch a long version of the match. It at least gave us the rare moment where La Mascara was the better wrestler in a match.

Match 6: Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Valiente vs Negro Casas, Shocker, Último Guerrero

Arena México, 06/03/2016
Video:
 thecubsfan

  1. rudos
    • Pulpo Guerrero on Atlantis (3:16)
  2. técnicos
    • Atlantida on Ultimo Guerrero (1:06)
  3. técnicos
    • Marco Corleone Aero Italia (3:21)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 7:43

Review: [ok] Fan friendly main event that felt insubstantial compared to what happened prior, and really on the short side. It did serve its purpose, they worked hard in the time they had and Marco broke out the leapfrog spots he’s otherwise cut back on, but there’s really not much to this one.
