Recapped: 05/13/2016
What happened: La Mascara split from Rush & Pierroth, something with an eight day build. After the show, Rush indicated he plans on continuing to use the Ingobernable name, but he’s the last remaining member of the original trio, and it’ll be the same group in name only if it continues to exist. La Mascara may be forming a partnership with Shocker instead, and there were teases of matches between the four.
That was the only angle the show.
What was good: The semimain was very good, though very similar to other matches the Sky Team and the Guerrero have had. The tercera was good as well.
Where can I watch it: The main event is on Claro’s website. The entire show will be on my channel on Tuesday. The main matches will air on Azteca US on June 11.
Match 1: Eléctrico & Último Dragóncito vs Mercurio & Pequeño Nitro
Arena México, 05/13/2016
- rudos
- Mercurio springboard double stomp Ultimo Dragoncito (4:21)
- COR Eléctrico (4:54)
- tecnicos
- Ultimo Dragoncito a la de caballo Ultimo Dragoncito (4:39)
- Eléctrico armscissors armbar Mercurio (5:05)
- técnicos
- Eléctrico crossface cavernaria Pequeño Nitro (3:53)
- COR Mercurio (4:18)
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:17
Review: [ok] More action than a usual opener, and even a rare dive. Mercurio can fairly be accused of overdoing it with the biting comedy, but he and Nitro give more of an effort in the first match spot, and Ultimo Dragoncito and Eléctrico didn’t pull them down. Maybe I just like seeing the Steve Pain dropkick spot a lot.
Match 2: Estrellita, Lluvia, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, Tiffany, Zeuxis
Arena México, 05/13/2016
- tecnicas
- Princesa Sugehit headscissors armbar Zeuxis (4:44)
- rudas
- Amapola motocicleta Estrellita (3:08)
- tecnicas
- Lluvia corner dropkick Tiffany (4:51)
- Estrellita Star Cross Amapola (5:40)
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:32
Review: [below average] Early on, Lluvia and Tiffany seemed to be transported from the far flung future, reenacting how lucha libre matches might have gone without apparently having seen one. It got less bad, but it never got really that good and the crowd checked out as much as the people on Twitter. It was exceedingly meandering and pointless from the second fall on, and there was no really strong build to the finish. They’d never do it – they almost never put women in the opener – but they should’ve flipped the last two matches.
Match 3: Blue Panther, Guerrero Maya Jr., Titán vs Bobby Z, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora
Arena México, 05/13/2016
- técnicos
- Titan huracanrana Dragon Rojo Jr. (5:49)
- rudos
- Bobby Z dropkick Blue Panther (3:19)
- rudos
- Dragon Rojo powerbomb Blue Panther (7:37)
Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 16:45
Notes: Guerrero Maya defeated Pólvora at nearly the same time as Blue Panther won, but Blue Panther was the captain and that ended the match
Review: [good] This was a slower building fight and didn’t seem at the level I’d expect from the lineup early on, but they got their by the end. The usual bit of Blue Panther magic helped. The finish served as a smart explanation of the CMLL rules, the kind of thing you don’t often get in CMLL (where the rules are usually forgotten or confused.) The 90 second run of Titan by the end looks spectacular. Bobby Z fit in with the other two, the way he always done when they start (and then stop) putting him in the group.
Match 4: Stuka Jr. vs Misterioso Jr. in a lightning match
Arena México, 05/13/2016
Winner: Stuka (torpedo splash)
Match Time: 6:53
Notes: Misterioso returns to his old link, dropping the Boricua gear.
Review: [good] These two guys have fought each other countless times in CMLL, and probably quite a few times before they came to CMLL. They should have some good chemistry together, and Misterioso was trying harder than he had as a Boricua, so there were a some entertaining moments. It never kicked into a high gear, but the gimmick lose did seem to motivate Misterioso to show more than you’d expect out of him. It seems like he’s in a bad situation, losing his gimmick and losing his first match after, but maybe he’ll work his way out of it.
Match 5: Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero
Arena México, 05/13/2016
- rudos
- W Guerrero (4:01)
- Sky Team
- Volador Jr. top rope huracanrana Gran Guerrero (2:25)
- Valiente arm trap half crab Euforia (2:33)
- Sky Team
- La Mistica on Ultimo Guerrero (2:55)
Winner: Sky Team (2-1)
Match Time: 9:29
Review: [good] essentially the touring version of this trios match, done as a one off going away match for Volador. They were on as usual, with Mistico’s scary tricky high spots all coming off well and Valiente busting on the Valiente Special as if this was a title match. (It really was only missing the near falls to be one, the técnicos won very easily in the end.) Volador seemed to be landing and jumping off one leg in the final stretch, but was moving around fine after so maybe I was just seeing things. Might be underrating this – fans dug it enough to throw in money, and it was far and away the best match on the show.
Match 6: La Máscara, Pierroth, Rush vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible
Arena México, 05/13/2016
- tecnicos
- Shocker Dos Caras Clutch La Mascara (5:03)
- técnicos
- Rey Bucanero rolling senton Rush (5:23)
- Terrible top rope splash Pierroth (5:55)
Winner: TGR (2-0)
Match Time: 10:58
Notes: La Mascara declared himself leader of the Ingobernables , defended Shocker and didn’t get along with Rush & Pierroth during the match. The team fell apart, leading to their defeat. Pierroth & Rush attacked Mascara after the match, with Shocker making the save. Rush declared he, Sombra and La Mascara were like blood brothers, but Mascara plays to the crowd too much and he was now going with his actual blood, his father Pierroth.
Backstage, La Mascara declared the Ingobernables over, while Rush said he and Pierroth were now the Ingobernables.
Review: [below average] the match wasn’t more than an angle, the setup to a depressing storyline. Pierroth, Mascara and Rush had no magic, but Rush going with Pierroth alone seems impossibly even worse and it’s an underwhelming sad end to Ingobernables. (And also one where all those técnicos who were made to look like fools get no retribution.) A La Mascara/Shocker partnership isn’t any promising; this angle set up matches, but none of them good and it’s going to leave people less over than it started. Shocker’s back from a knee injury, but looks no better than he did before he left, and is now just one of (many) far past their prime lucha libre stars being propped up in main events despite obviously being a shell of what they used to be. Though, I guess at least Shocker was definitely a star. This Pierroth never was.

Same exact booking they did with marco, I’ve watched this company for years and it amazes me they never bother to run a break up story properly. I rolled my eyes when la mascara wouldn’t fight shocker, even though the past few months he’s been the most cowardly cheating member of the stable, complete forced turn with no psychology whatsoever!
