CMLL Arena Mexico: 2016-05-10

Tuesday fun
Tuesday fun with gringas

Recapped: 05/10/2016

What happened: Nada. Hombre Bala, replacing Super Porkly, landed badly on a dive. The rudos weirdly won the second match in straight falls. Truly, though, nothing of importance took place and this was just a show with no purpose.

What was good: I liked the lightning match and the two trios which followed it. Enjoyable if not must see.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

Match 1: Astral & Fantasy vs Pequeño Olímpico & Pierrothito
Arena México, 05/10/2016

  1. rudos
    • Pierrothito half crab Astral (4:11)
    • Pequeño Olímpico a la de caballo Astral (4:57)
  2. técnicos
    • Astral splash Pequeño Olímpico (3:04)
    • Fantasy suspended surfboard Pierrothito (3:27)
  3. tecnicos
    • fatnasy Spanish Fly Pequeño Olimpico (2:55)
    • Astral kneeling tirabuzon Pierrothito (3:21)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:45

Review: [ok] forgettable limited opener, with the rudos doing little and the técnicos doing a slightly more. Everyone looked professional, but every little of it came off as interesting. Just a match to get thru a match. It’s kind of amazing Astral does all he does without tearing any muscles.

Match 2: Leono, Sensei, Star Jr. vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Sangre Azteca
Arena México, 05/10/2016

  1. rudos
    • Raziel STF Star Jr. (7:10)
  2. rudos
    • Sangre Azteca counter dropkick Sensei (4:08)
    • Cancerbero motocicleta Leono (4:59)

Winner: rudos (2-0)
Match Time: 12:09

Review: [ok] so the rudos just destroyed the técnicos for a large sections of two falls and it ended. That’s weird. I guess it saved us from more Sangre Azteca dropkicks, and a little variety in finishes wouldn’t hurt this promotions, but it was just strange. Raziel’s submission looked cool.

Match 3: Fuego vs Disturbio in a lightning match
Arena México, 05/10/2016

Winner: Fuego (small package)
Match Time: 7:48

Review: [good] Much more fun the matches which had preceded it, and made it look much better in comparison. Both guys did what they usually do in their lightning matches, and Disturbio’s dive always looks fun. Fuego’s winning pinfall felt out of nowhere he’s like that.

Match 4: Blue Panther Jr., Pegasso, The Panther vs Fujin, Okumura, Raijin
Arena México, 05/10/2016

  1. rudos
    • Okumura hanging DDT The Panther (2:15)
  2. tecnicos
    • Blue Panther Jr. nudo lagunero Okumura (1:12)
  3. rudos
    • Raijin wheelbarrow suplex Blue Panther Jr. (7:16)
    • Pegasso splash Fujin (7:16)
    • The Panther springboard dropkick to the face (8:11)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:38

Review: [good] easily best match on the show to this point by a great deal, even with the first two falls being short and Blue Panther trying to kill Fujin in the third fall. That last six minutes were all action and lots of near falls and more effort than earlier matches. The four who keep fighting have their match down and it’s a pretty good match. The Panther actually showed a sign of personality too, so that was good.

Match 5: Ángel de Oro, Hombre Bala, Tritón vs Hechicero, Kráneo, Sagrado
Arena México, 05/10/2016

  1. tecnicos
    • Hombre Bala Jr. rope flip moonsault Sagrado (5:50)
    • Triton springboard huracanrana Hechicero (6:01)
  2. rudos
    • Kraneo running hip check Angel de Oro (4:17)
  3. rudos
    • Sagrado powerbomb Triton (4:37)
    • Kraneo senton Angel de Oro (5:12)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: (15:30)
Notes: Hombre Bala replaced Super Porky.

Review: [good] another time where Hombre Bala replaces Super Porky and an actually good match breaks out as a result. Lots of professional looking work by the técnicos and a good build to the end. Sagrado and Hechicero worked well together, but Hechicero just continues to work well with everyone. Really liked the rapid fire armdrags by Triton in the first fall. Bala’s landing on his dive at the end looked rough and hopefully he’s OK.

Match 6: Marco Corleone, Máximo Sexy, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Último Guerrero, Vangellys
Arena México, 05/10/2016

  1. rudos
    • Vangellys top rope splash Marco (6:34)
    • Euforica Special on Stuka (6:43)
  2. técnicos
    • Stuka torpedo splash Ultimo Guerrero (1:27)
  3. tecnicos
    • Marco pin Vangellys (3:56)
    • Máximo half crab Euforia (3:59)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:09

Review: [ok] crowd pleasing match that didn’t translate on YouTube as it seemed to be in the crowd. The tourists loved Máximo and Marco and Stuka did some cool things, sot hat’s all they needed. Otherwise, this was a bit buy the numbers for the main event (except for Stuka getting pins on Ultimo Guerrero like it’s nothing.) This is probably the right way to go in front of a crowd that’s mostly tourists but felt a little come down after the last couple matches.
