Dragon Lee & Mascara Dorada trying to out due each other is dangerous

CMLL (FRI) 04/08/2016 Arena México [CMLL, KronoSport, Notimex, R de Rudo, thecubsfan, Yahoo! Deportes]
1) Magnus & Robin b Akuma & Espíritu Negro
11:36. Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Dalys, Reyna Isis, Zeuxis b Lluvia, Marcela, Skadi
14:54. Rudas took 2/3.
3) Cavernario, Felino, Mr. Niebla b Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr., Titán
16:01. Rudos took 1/3.
4) La Máscara b Ángel de Oro © [CMLL LH]
19:34. Seconds were Dragon Lee and Rush, who got involved. Angel de Oro had the win, but Rush distracted the referee. Oro argued, and Mascara attacked him from behind to set up the win. Dragon Lee argued with La Mascara after the win, Mascara kicked Lee, and Rush kept his brother and his best friend separated. Angel de Oro falls on his 6th defense, first since August. Mascara is the 15th champion, his first singles championship since losing the NWA Middleweight Championship in 2012.
5) Dragón Lee, Máscara Dorada, Mistico b Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero
11:32. Tecnicos took 1/3.
6) Marco Corleone DQ Rush
7:23. Straight falls, the last when Rush tried to foul Marco, and Marco fouled him instead. Marco also punched out referee Edgar and attacked Rush when Rush refused his hair match challenge.

This was a good show, every match had some value to it. The title match was the weakest ones for all the reasons figured going into it, but at least we got the Dragon Lee/La Mascara tease out of it (and probably not a coincidence they’re partners in the tournament.) Marco versus Rush was pushed hard enough that it’s actually believable they might have that hair match – they’ve been starting them so quick that it’s not totally out of the question it could happen at one of the big shows at the end of the month. Still seems unlikely, but we’ll have a better idea after they team up next week.

Arena Coliseo tonight has Maximo, Atlantis and Valiente facing Euforia, Gran Guerrero and Niebla Roja. The semifinal has the Bobby Z & Vangellys against The Panther & Guerrero Maya Jr., the current building tag champs. There’s always the possibility of a title program when the champs team up in Arena Coliseo.

DTU is in Tulancingo with a Ovett & Sharlie Rockstar vs Ciclope & Miedo Extremo match. Of interest, Fujin & Raijin make another appearance with the Crazy Boy led promotion, facing Pesdailla & Drastick Boy in a rematch from their previous DTU appearance in March.

Gym Hercules also has a notable show, which seems to be a follow up to the Amor Apache show from a couple months ago. The main event is Dr. Cerebro versus Hechicero. Hechicero says he loves singles matches, feeling you’re tested to the maximum of your ability. Semimain is Demus & Wasson vs Akuma & Yoruba in an incredible pairs match.

MVP says he was fired from Lucha Underground. He had been around as an agent in the March tapings and was expected to do the same for the rest of the season. He was let go for doing a podcast with some of the wrestlers backstage, breaking an non-disclosure agreement. The podcast, for MLW and which is no longer up on their website, included a conversation with Catrina. She was excited about some developments for her character in Season 3. They did talk about some character information, and Dave Meltzer says that’s what got MVP fired. MVP’s very complimentary towards Lucha Underground in his firing and hopes he can work with them again in the future.

Ivelisse says her foot injury – suffered on a recent Lucha Underground show – is worse than the last one, but she’s learned to not to work thru it this time and so it should heal better and quicker. She’s not 100% sure when she’ll be back.

Wrestling Observer has a spoiler about three woman who are debuting at Lucha Underground. IIRC, these women were also on the same Stardom USA shows Kobra Moon was recruited from.

Lucha Underground also seems to have a new deli-style line policy: you show up, you get a number, and you can leave for a while. I guess this could be a one day thing – the shows are starting a couple hours later (probably because they’re waiting for the AAA guys to get in from Mexico City, and they couldn’t have left until this morning) – but people cutting in had been a problem on tapings for a while and something like this would help with that, and maybe also help with letting people know their chances of actually getting in.

This week’s AAA TV episode, with the second half of Rey de Reyes, is up on YouTube already.

LuchaWorld has the latest news update.

Segunda Caida writes about last week’s Lucha Underground episode and reviews the Casandro & Discovery vs X-Fly & Skayde match.

AyTV interviews Esfinge.

El Hijo del Santo answers the “Batman or Superman” question with “El Santo”, becuase “El Santo is real.” OK! (He ends up going with Batman because he’s more like El Santo.)

Lineups

ELITE (WED) 04/13/2016 Arena México
1) Estrellita & La Jarochita vs Dallys la Caribeña & Zeuxis
2) Dinamic Black, Jinzo, Metaleón vs Heddi Karaoui, Okumura, Raijin
3) Ángel de Oro, Golden Magic, Súper Crazy vs Cavernario, Felino, Tiger
4) Extreme Tiger vs Último Guerrero [Liga Elite]
5) Argos & Carístico vs Dragón Lee & Rush
6) LA Park vs Cibernético [Liga Elite]

La Parka & Cibernetico was set up on the last show, but Maximo and Negro Casas should be happening on this show – they’re the only ones who haven’t had a match yet – and they’re both nowhere to be seen. I don’t know what the means. I think I know what Argos in the semimain means: they’re doing an Argos/Dragon Lee feud for some reason. Tercera follows up in the Crazy/Felinos feuds.

CMLL (FRI) 04/15/2016 Arena México
1) Bengala & Sensei vs Cholo & Espanto Jr.
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Stukita vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Nitro, Pierrothito

11) ? & ?? vs ??? & ???? [natl pi, semifinal]
12) Atlantis, Carístico, Máximo Sexy vs Rey Bucanero, Rey Escorpión, Terrible

The tournament starts! They’re going to have 12 matches on a show! This is not going to end well. Nice to see Stukita anyway.

  1. Great to see LU bringing in those girls. Hopefully they can bring in 1 or 2 male wrestlers from Japan and more male and female wrestlers from Mexico. There is no need to worry about WWE signing away wrestlers when there is so much great talent out there, especially in Mexico.

  2. Casas is replaced with Niebla for the tournament? Maybe that’s why Casas isn’t on the elite show coming up? Maybe injured?

  3. Liga elite participants:-
    1. Lashley
    2. Rush
    3. Xtreme tiger
    4. Mascara dorada
    5. Caristico
    6. Volador Jr
    7. La mascara
    8. Atlantis
    9. Cibernetico
    10. LA park
    11. Ultimo Guerrero
    12. Casas or maximo?

I guess Casas and maximo can’t both be in the tournament, or have I got someone wrong?

  4. Ultimo Guerrero is the one I’ve been missing – and I’m not sure why, because his name is on the list for last week. Negro Casas is listed in the tournament both weeks, Maximo is not.
