What happened? The Sky Team kept the trios titles over a non-Ultimo Guerrero combination of the Guerreros. Kamaitachi beat Dragon Lee (!) and challenged him to a title match next week.

What was good? Sky Team defense was great (in the usual fashion) and Kamaitachi/Dragon Lee was good in unexpected ways.

Review: [ok] fine enough midcard match with no major errors without adding much new. The ladies were really loud, and the crowd was not. Lluvia does not do a lot, but she’s getting ok at what she’s doing and that’s an improvement. The finishing sequence between Zeuxis & Sugehit was good. Cameras really had trouble keeping up with the triple dive spot near the end.

Notes: Kamaitachi challenged Dragon Lee to a title match next week, but the announcers mostly talked over it.

Review: [good] overachieving trios match for something that was just supposed to set up a title match in the first fall. Blue Panther pulled Rey Bucanero into mat wrestling to start, and I can’t think of the last time I saw Bucanero actually do that. He wasn’t great, but he did fine. Stuka and Ripper did about a 100 armdrags in the first fall. And then Dragon Lee and Kamataichi took over doing great stuff. That first fall was the best part of this match, but it’s impressive how those two keep improving. They’ve faced each other constantly for months, it’d be understandable if they just plateaued, but they keep making small improvements. It helps Dragon Lee has no fear of absolutely anything. The rudos celebration after the win was a nice touch.

Notes: Sky Team retain the titles. Mistico’s right arm dislocates while landing on la Mistica in the first fall. He hurries to the back to get it popped back in and runs back to the match a few seconds into the second fall. He didn’t show any affect from the injury the rest of the match

Review: [great] strong title match where the Sky Team did what they did best and they avoided going too much into title match clichés. All three falls felt worthwhile, with the second fall packing more than would be expected in a 150 seconds. I liked the mat wrestling in the first fall, it felt as if was more of an improvisation (and the técnicos were much ahead of the rudos.) They didn’t let Místico participate in that – and their exit out of mat wrestling wasn’t real smooth – but Místico was a full participant in the rest of the match despite his mid match injury. Místico dislocated his shoulder on La Mistica in the first fall, ran to the back to have some pop it back in, and was his normal self the rest of the way. Euforia was his designated opponent and did a really good job catching him for all of his big spots, including the super boost headscissors to the outside. Euforia’s single minded focus did set up the weirdness of the largest man on the team standing on top of the pyramid for the careta, but they weren’t going to take any chances. The other four were supporting players but played their role well. This didn’t add anything new to the Sky Team big match template but was effective in what it did.
