Guerrero Maya Jr., Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto: [ok] generic trios match to display the new Hijos del Infierno alignment. They did the normal big midcard match third fall spots even (stacked up superplex, check) to energize the match in the third fall, but blends back in with the hundred other of these matches as soon as it’s over. Luciferno did the same old Hijos del Averno spots fine, but they’re the same old Hijos del Averno spots. Stuka in white is odd.
La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush vs Euforia, Thunder, Último Guerrero: [ok] a more hard hitting version of this match than previous encounters, and one a lot more focused on Thunder than most matches his debut. Thunder can’t really be hidden, but the Anniversary match was the only other one in recent memory where he seemed to focus of the match, and this match was all about feuding him with Rush and teasing a mask match. Not that being focused is good. Rush might have bled from a hard chop to the chest (coming days before CMLL would say no one ever bleed in CMLL) but Thunder took the worst of it from the Ingobernables. He got nailed by Rush’s dropkickt oe nd the second fall and they weren’t light on him the rest of the way. Crowd did see enough in thunder, or hated Rush enough to get into the feud. Sombra’s a hero to save us from seeing Thunder pin Rush.
Atlantis, Máximo, Volador Jr. vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible: [ok] all three matches on the show are rated the same, the blunt nature of the rating system not working well, but this was definitely the least of the three matches. There just wasn’t a lot to it until the third fall, and it was oddly a lot of Shocker & Atlantis instead of the guys who are actually have a match next week. Not that a different finish would’ve help, this is just a show of forgettable CMLL matches.
