CMLL on CadenaTres: 2015-03-14

can’t out tecnico Demus

recap

taped 2015-03-10 @ Arena México

Leono’s dance isn’t worth stopping for

Leono & Sensei vs Camorra & Inquisidor: [below average] it was a struggle to pay attention to the entirety of this match, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t succeed. There are few people who seem to be less interested in CMLL than Camorra. He’s looking more and more like the least interesting Cerebro and couldn’t be bothered to sell Sensei’s kicks for the 500th time. Leono’s wacky look would get him over if he had any charisma. No danger of that.

double inverted powerslam

Astral, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pierrothito: [good] clean minis match, similar to the recent ones. Mercurio and Astral feuded slightly, but really barely interacted. Even the finish didn’t go long. It was a lot of Demus/Electrico, which was good but seemingly not the point. Astral looks very bloated and is robotic, but that match should still be good.

don’t try a slow headscissors on Demus
Soberano wipe out tope

Oro Jr., Soberano Jr., Star Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Hijo del Signo, Nitro: [ok] got more time and got od more than usual, but it looked like a mess in sections. The third fall, I don’t know what happened there. I’m pretty sure both teams won based on how Tirantes was refereeing. The end of the second fall wasn’t much cleaner. Oro Jr. looked horrible in this match. CMLL will do that to you sometimes but Oro seemed to be doing it to himself. He’s been not good for a while now. The ropes snapping on Star Jr. looked very painful, so of course he was up and doing a dive about 30 seconds. OK grade is at least a little bit generous.

triple – er, double dive
Star Jr. run up the corner moonsault
Zacarias & Felino

Ángel de Oro, Dragón Rojo Jr., Fuego vs Bárbaro Cavernario, Felino, Gran Guerrero: [ok] a routine match, by which they pretty much did their normal routines, the Tuesday crowd reacted appropriately, and nothing was all that interesting. Dragon Rojo deciding to become a submission master was a bit different. Nothing Felino or Angel de Oro did was different.

Dragon Rojo ramp dive headscissors
run!

Mistico, Titán, Valiente vs Kráneo, Pólvora, Rey Escorpión: [ok] The Kraneo hipsmash in the corner probably looks good live but they’ve never made it look good on TV. Valiente ducking out of the way before impact makes sense for him but it’s hard to believe the move. Valiente being furious about winning the second fall exposed that screw up finish too (though Tirantes being ludicrous seems like the bigger issue there.) Match got better in the third fall, as it tends to do, and the trip dive bit with Kraneo worked well. Místico seemed pretty sure he was feuding with Pólvora, who seemed less clear on the idea. Titan and Rey Escorpion have good chemistry but no idea how Escorpion is ever going to make welterweight. There’s only handful of people who you’d trust to catch Místico on his headscissors to the floor, so it’s good they got Escorpion back.

Titan tossed hard to the apron
Mistico boost headscissors all the way to the floor
Mije splash countered
didn’t work quite as well this time

Sagrado vs Delta: [ok] very much a generic lightning match, with lots of moves but nothing stringing together. This is watchable if you want to see Delta & Sagrado attempt a submission battle. They’ve done the rolling suplex spot a dozen times and somehow did it the worse ever when they just had a singles match. Sagrado tried to add a rebound to it, but they were struggling before they got there.
