Delta, Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Hechicero, Hombre sin Nombre, Virus: [EXCELLENT] an entertaining match where they got a ton of time and used it very differently than most CMLL matches. Virus and Maya fought for holds about four and half minutes on the ground and it was so superb that I was sad to see them tag out and end it – only for Hechicero and Delta to do the same. (Delta’s not at the level of the other guys but he was closer this time.) The rudos did more rotating and Fuego kind of was the odd man out a lot of the way AND nearly lost via dancing, but they found a way to give him a couple of moments before it was over. We got a lot of Virus/Maya and a lot of Virus/Hechicero and it was all so very competitive. Hombre sin Nombre looked better than he had in other matches since changing names, and I was delighted to see him steal the Hooligan Crash. The ending sequence to both falls was really strong and Hechciero’s reaction to losing added to the strength of the match. Too bad they didn’t have a better crowd; they would’ve been pelted with coins if they did this same match in Naucalpan.
Máximo vs Negro Casas: [GOOD] Amusing if rushed singles match. They really should’ve gone just one fall with the time they were given. It instead turned into into a sequence of tournament matches but well worked ones. The ref actually did more exotico spots than Máximo until the end but Negro and Máximo played off each other well, and they had the crowd into it. Máximo seemed to get his leg trapped underneath him on his apron dive but didn’t show an injury the rest of the way.
Atlantis, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero: [OK] An even shorter match. Soem of that has to be editing, but it’s also as if they decided as a group to let the tercera guys go for it and everyone else would just get in everything quickly (instead of doing the same matches in 5 minutes more the time.) Listing this as OK may be overprasing it; the action was good while it lasted but it really didn’t last long for a three falls match. Finish was really abrupt. Mascara Dorada was on fire for the 60 seconds he was on, which is the story of Mascara Dorada’s 2014. Here, everyone only got 60 seconds.
