6) El Patrón Alberto vs Texano Jr. © [AAA HEAVY]
Mesias and Perro are seconds. Texano 14th known defense.
Air Date: 01/03 and 01/10? That doesn’t sound right but it’s not clear this point. AAA previously indicated they wanted to sell this thru on iPPV, but there’s been no official talk about that as of yet.
This is about what it looked like AAA had in store after Monday’s show in Leon. The surprise is no more surprises. These usually go to seven or eight matches to get a few more people involved, but that’s not what happened here. AAA does squeeze in Perro Jr., Mesias, Fantasma and Hamburguesa (???) as seconds. La Parka getting involved in the trios title match would make sense with what they’ve done before.
It’s about usual TV taping size, though the matches a lot bigger. The main event should be the coronation of Alberto as the top guy. There’s no point in Alberto messing around with Texano (or anyone else) if he’s really main eventing against Perro at TripleMania. It takes a long time for AAA to get those kind of things set up so they’d need to get it started here if they were serious about it.
Alberto apparently indicated this past weekend that the two US companies he’s signing with are Lucha Underground and TNA. TNA announced their new TV deal today, but their schedule has not been made public and there’s no telling how it would overlap. I would assume AAA has top priority, but we don’t know that until we know it and I’m not sure that’s a big issue even if it’s not. AAA hasn’t been afraid to give titles to guys who are otherwise occupied (Demon!) and aren’t concerned with frequent title defenses, so a TNA deal shouldn’t be an issue – but that’s the only thing I can think of that might be a reason Alberto doesn’t win.
My hunch, based on how they had been used before this feud started, is Aerostar is beating Super Fly. Aerostar made TV and got the new Air Force, Super Fly was off on the island of forgotten luchadors with Uro Rocker. That doesn’t seem a certainty though. (Either way, one of these guys will be on Lucha Underground masked after they lose their mask here. They’re different universes and it goes both ways – no real influence from that show on this one yet.) Not thrilled about Hamburguesa being a second, since that means the match will have to stop for Nino to get in his spots. Overall though, Super Fly and Aerostar got semimain billing on a six match card which should give them plenty of time. This is the night for them their mark.
If we know anything about Psycho Circus feuds, it’s that they go on forever. This will be the fourth time these two teams face off but surely not the last. A title change makes sense if they’re going to keep this going, but there may be other considerations (how many titles do they want to change hands on one show?) at play here.
Three way tag match is going to be the spot fest of the night, even if it’d be a little bit better if Pentagon had been adopted by a more spectacular stable. (Where were you, Anarquia?) The Perros del Mal team appear here to allow the tecnico to tecnico title change without forcing the two teams to battle each other Myzteziz & Fenix have been treated as the new hot idea and figure to win to continue that.
It’ll be a lot easier to have an opinion on the women’s tag match once we finally find out who this new person is. They’re being booked to be a important person right away; Taya vs ??? is surely the next title match if all goes right.
Dinastia gets very rare chance to defend his title in a singles match on a high profile show. Actually, that’s not rare, that’s a first time ever: AAA’s never done a singles title match in the (brief) history of this title on a major show. Mini Charly’s looked like a good opponent for him and this should just be a good exhibition for the champ. There’s no obvious reason to change the title.
There’s no taping announced past this date. AAA wouldn’t need to tape until early January, but that’s when Lucha Underground needs to tape. AAA could tape the weekend prior (01/10) to Lucha Underground’s resumption (01/17) but might choose to get ahead of things by taping late in Decemeber as usual. The Best Ofs all may or may not be happening too. This is fluid.
CMLL has their end of year show on 12/05, AAA has their show on 12/07, and everyone starts to take a bit of a winter’s nap on 12/08.

Disappointed there’s no Perro, Parka and/or Demon wrestling.
I don’t mind 2 and 3 not wrestling and Perro is biding his time until he can main event against Alberto
