Dinastía & Octagoncito vs Mini Histeria & Mini Psycho Clown: Good opener. The AAA minis match are built around speed and smoothiness. They had a lot of the first and most of the second; there seemed to be some miscommunication a few spots near the end. Mini Histeria remains a very good opponent for Dinastía and Mini Psycho Clown is coming along (though he had the rougher match.) Dinastía and Octagoncito were good as usual. Glad they got a better angle of Dinastia’s dive after the match.
Alebrije, Argenis, Ludxor vs Gran Apache, Machine Rocker, Soul Rocker: Good match for a bunch of randoms thrown together. Alebrije and Cuije’s comedy – very much mirroring the originals – seemed so different on AAA show that’s mostly gotten rid of comedy. Good to see Machine again – either he’s lost a little bit of weight or gotten better fitting gear. Machine Rocker looked impressive on his catches, but it was really carrying Argenis thru a double rotation headscissors which was his greatest triumph. I think Machine Rocker took the fall because he was the one they trusted to be able to pull off the finish. It’s the downside of being good (and big enough to hold up Alebrije, which would’ve been more of a challenge for Gran Apache.)
Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Myzteziz, Psycho Clown vs Averno, Chessman, Daga, Zorro: Usual AAA main event, usual Psycho Circus match, usual Myzteziz match – a whole bunch of clichés coming together for a match you haven’t seen before but sure felt like you did. (Also, that thing about not a lot of comedy feels not quite right after the Psycho Circus were back to their usual comedy here.) There were hints of a more interesting match, one that Zorro occasionally seemed to be part of it but few were joining him in, but this was mostly an okay spot show match. Announcers either blew the finish or tried to walk back Averno giving up to La Mística already. It was a strange way to end a strange show, which felt more like something out of the doldrums of January than a month before TripleMania. There were a lot of pre-tape on this show to build to the August show, and not a lot of in-ring that did the same.
