recap

taped 2014-06-20 @ Gimnasio Miguel Hidalgo, Puebla, Puebla

triple neckbreaker

Australian Suicide, Drago, Joe Lider vs Daga, Eterno, Steve Pain: turned into Joe Lider Garbage Fest after about five minutes, kinda was doing fine until that point. I’d like to see this match up without Joe Lider but I’d like to see very match up without Joe Lider. How strange that Joe Lider’s thumbtacks hurt him and Eterno when they landed on him, but when everyone else took big moves in the same spot for the next few minutes, it didn’t hurt all. Rudos looked really good, with Steve Pain being awesome with Drago in particular. Hamburguesa getting in his dive was completely nonsense and was forgotten a moment alter when Daga immediately beat Suicide.

Fenix eats bicycle kick

Angélico, Electroshock, Fénix vs Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Pentagón Jr.: better match than last one, with a lot of good sequences. Not a lot of reason or story connecting them, but better good spots than not good spots. Fantasma and Fenix need to get booked by Arena Fusion to have their singles match, since it really does seem like it’d be good but is clearly not happening here any time soon. I have no idea why Hijo de Tirantes didn’t call the DQ here when Suicide running in directly in front of him – neither do the luchadors, who still reacted to him like he was a rudo referee. He just wasn’t this week.

Angelico finds one way over the barricade…

…Myzteziz finds another

Cibernético, Myzteziz, Psycho Clown vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Zorro: really a standard AAA match – rudos cheating and brawling, técnicos coming back and then getting in all their offense – but the crowd was molten hot for it this week. They were really into Myzteziz more than the other two técnicos (maybe because it was Puebla and his CMLL fans came to this show), even though Myzteziz really didn’t end up doing a whole lot in this match. He looks great though – the concern about being broken down mentally and physically seem unwarranted at this point. DQ for interference didn’t make any sense when the last two matches had people running in the same exact way with no interference, but AAA booking isn’t there for consistency. Rudos running into beat up the técnicos was not much new, but the rudos actually holding the ring and not getting run off by the técnicos was different. They wanted to push the Texano/Psycho match as important and seemed to pull it off.
