AAA TV (SAT) 05/24/2014 Explanada del Parque Bicentenario, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas [AAA]
1) Ludxor, Niño Hamburguesa, Venum b Carta Brava Jr., El Apache, Fresero Jr.
Hamburguesa splash on Fresero.
2) Machine Rocker, Mamba, Mini Abismo Negro, Taya Valkyrie b El Elegido, Faby Apache, Mascarita Sagrada, Pimpinela Escarlata
Mamba beat Mascarita Sagrada with a powerbomb.
3) Aerostar b Ricky Marvin, Axel, Psicosis, Steve Pain, Eterno [AAA CRUISER, #1 Contenders]
Listed originally as Daga defending the title, but Daga did not appear for reasons not yet explained – he may have been stripped of the title. Psicosis replaced him, while Ricky Marvin replaced Bengala. Aerostar beat Steve Pain for the win (may have been one pin to a finish) and was said to be the first finalist in a some sort of tournament for a title match.
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Texano Jr. b Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown
Billed as a title match, but apparently was non-title after all. Fantasma beat Monster Clown won and Texano celebrated with Psycho’s mask after the match.
5) Averno, Black Warrior, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Bengala, Fénix, La Parka
Averno was the mystery rudo, with Bengala as the mystery tecnico. Averno beat Bengala with the Devil’s Wings for the win, but the lights went out and Mystery Man In White faced off with him to end the show. The Mystery Man appeared in a Mistico mask, then took it off to reveal an all white mask with gold eye covering.
Air Date: 05/31. If the recent pattern holds, the top 3 will air on Televisa and the first 2 will air on UTDN on 06/05.
This is a plans change edition of AAA TV! They went from two title matches to none with no particular explanation.
Tercera description is described like it’s a tournament for a vacant championship, but there’s no mention of Daga forfeiting the title – or Daga at all. Daga mentioned on Tercera Caida this past week about how he prefers wrestling on the indies than AAA because of the freedom, but it’d still be surprising for him to leave AAA, especially without losing a title. Maybe there’s an injury we haven’t been told about?
Aerostar won? Aerostar won! It just goes to prove that harassing people on Twitter talent wins out in the end. Whatever’s going on, it was was very clear this was the first part of a tournament and so there’s got to be another part of it – likely an added match in Celaya. Pentagon Jr., Fenix, Jack Evans, Suicide, Angelico, Drago, Venum, Ludxor, and Super Fly could all figure in. Heck, Bengala missed the first part, maybe he can come back in the second part.
Trios title change is probably more just realizing they rather do the trios title match in Celaya instead and not bothering to let people know they had changed this card.
Bengala/Marvin worked twice (unless they stuck someone else in the suit, which is not impossible) because they’re holding Sin Cara out of the ring probably all the way until Verano de Escandalo. I would be surprised if he actually fights in Celaya but maybe they announce the name. AAA’s being careful to give a little bit more of the new identity each appearance – this time was his new mask – and the name is the big one left.
And it’s possible that name may end up being Mistico by the time AAA’s done. AAA actually posted that on Twitter as the name, then quickly deleted it. The assumption last night was the problem was with using that name, but it might have actually just been with using that name too soon.
This was another free show, but this was also a gigantic crowd. The arena looks like a bandshell, with plenty of ringside seating and thousand and thousands of park seating stretching back from the arena to a near by monument. I’m not sure how much the people could see the show from the way back, but it’s going to look massive on television. It appears to be the second biggest crowd of the year so far to Rey de Reyes and may end up the biggest non-major show attendance of the year.
