Pimpi beat Mini Abismo.
3) Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Daga, Eterno, Steve Pain
Texano attacked Psycho Clown and Daga beat a distracted Monsther Clown.
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Texano Jr. b Alan Stone, Axel, El Elegido
Moved to the semimain. Fantasma beat Elegido.
5) Averno, Chessman, Pentagón Jr. b Cibernético, Fénix, Psycho Clown
Averno was the surprise rudo – using that name. Psycho Clown was the tecnico surprise. Averno beat Fenix clean. Ameno played and the mystery man from February reappeared, now in all white, and made the save for the AAA side after a La Sociedad attack. He’s obviously Sin Cara, but wasn’t given a name here.
Air date: 05/24
Not sure what happened with the tecnico surprise luchador in the main event. Maybe it really was Bengala and Bengala didn’t make it for whatever reason. Maybe it was planned to be Sin Cara That Guy In White and they decided to slow play it. (They’re definitely slow playing it; he’s still got no name and not being in the match means they didn’t have to announce one.) We do what happened in the main event; Psycho’s not losing before his title match and Cibernetico’s just not losing, so Fenix’s run of success hits the brick wall of a Devil’s Wings.
It’s a bit surprising AAA is using the Averno name for Averno. CMLL owns the trademark, and any case Averno would have to building the name with his own work would be exactly the same case Psicosis/Histeria/Alebrije have on keeping their own names. Maybe Averno left on such good terms that CMLL let him keep the name? Or maybe between this and Bengala, AAA has no fear of CMLL enforcing their trademarks for whatever reason? Averno wearing the same CMLL t-shirt hoodie for his debut seemed like they were not too concerned about those things, though we’d really know if they just started calling Hombre de Blanco here just started wrestling as Mistico.
Otherwise, absolutely nothing of note on this show. Psycho Clown and Texano are not friends, in case you’ve suffered some sort of memory loss blanking out the last 10 months. Really nothing else set up for Verano de Escandalo. Arturo Rivera is a nice nostalgia return to the broadcast, but I hope he’s been preparing. He seemed unfamiliar with what was going on most of the show back when he was still announcing this show regularly. It might be dire for his first show back in a few years. (Then again, it’s not like I’m going to enjoy the AAA announce team any less.)
Next taping is 05/24 in Tuxtla Guiterrez, which should be a bit more active. Unsure if Sin Cara will be debut this time.
