Konnan led the Legion to the ring after the main event, but Roldan sent the AAA troops to counter him.

Mesias did not wrestle, but did distract Elegido to set up a top rope Ozz powerbomb for the win. That seems like a big win for the Sect. Meanwhile, Silver King has yet to win.

In the fourth, Ricky got Teddy with a moonsault sideslam while Chessman speared Jack out of the ring and thru a table. That should be something. Hermandad ran in post match; Ricky had saved the MPs from an attack after they lost, and Nicho and Lider consider him one of the Mexican Powers after teaming with them at TripleMania.

Octagoncito really should be the champ. Or maybe Mini Abismo.

Next taping: tommorow.

Quick Update: site may be down sometime after 10pm CT for a quick upgrade. If I get the chance, I’ll do the same for the luchawiki later on tonight.

Update Update: it’s done. Wiki may be next.

70 thoughts to “08/15 AAA TV Results (Mexico City)”

  1. Nvo Laredo show will be in a baseball park that’s just five block away from where I live…

  2. Bam Bam is now Bam Bald! Well that didn’t make sense at all. So now that they’ve had 3 singles matches this year alone I can officially call it a feud of the year candidate, right?

  3. So it will air on FSE. Speaking of FSE, they seem to have given up on CMLL again. They no longer run spots announcing CMLL’s timeslot, like they do for UFC and Boxing on Friday. I hope CMLL ends up off Televisa, and with a better partner in both countries.

  4. The thing is, FSE CMLL’s show is ending 10-15 minutes before the hour, mainly because they’re not running ads during their time, save own FSE programming and maybe one random commercial, with that scenario, I don’t think FSE would be interested in keeping a show they don’t get money of.

  5. Did CMLL end 15 minutes early again? What sporting event was on? I noticed CMLL airs like four times a week on FSA. Are all episodes ending early?

  6. The FSE show ran a full one hour, that’s with the mini’s match going only two falls. And only one lucha libre commercial.

  7. From what I’ve read, it seems US FSE dancing girls to fill up space, I’ve not seen them on the local version. Are they airing ArMex’s dancing numbers or something taped at Coliseo?

  8. It looked like ArenaMx when they did it last week. They were on a stage. I thought it was because they’re no longer doing the extraneous bits like Debajo Del Ring, El Arte Del Catch, stuff of that nature. Lately it’s just lucha.

  9. I think CMLL is afraid to leave Televisa because it would definitely give AAA a boost in the lucha libre wars. Even though CMLL probably got better attendance stats, perception is everything. Plus, with the Perros becoming independent contractors imagine how much power they will have “You guys not even on Televisa anymore, you need us more than ever, we want a raise or we will work out a deal with AAA that will give us better national coverage.”

  10. Panico and JLF don’t have the word “effort” in their dictionary. see: Ladies stip match.

There has to be some correlation between no more of those dumb FSE segments and the new Ras De Lona show airing a bunch of segments.

  11. @Rob: Yea, that’s pretty much what I figure. They’re not doing the same bits for Ras de Lona – except Shocker’s pretty much doing the move of the week bit – but I’m sure it’s taking the same (or more) production time and I doubt they’re getting much extra to work on a half hour show.

There’s no better testament to the pointless of 90% of those GdR segments than how they can be dropped and even the people doing them feel no remorse about it.

  12. @thecubsfan: Well, they’ve been making an effort for years. They’ve been doing PPV’s for nearly ten years. They made the effort to secure secondary and tertiary tv coverage on Cadena Tres, and 52(not CMLL’s fault 52 left SKY/Cablevision/Cablemas), plus local deals in GdL and Puebla. They also sold footage to KWHY but it didn’t work out. But they made the effort.

    I think people underestimate CMLL.

  13. Gdl has been there since the 60s or probably earlier, and the tv guys were the ones who approached CMLL not the other way around. PPVs were done by other guys and CMLL just jumped on the bandwagon, AAA did WWC, and Radames Coco made a couple of PPV shows at Palacio so they dumped him (based on suspending him for running a cage match) and took over.

  14. @luchalibrelive!: Did CMLL want extra programming, or did FSE/CAN52/CTres want lucha libre and CMLL was the easiest available?

I find it hard to believe CMLL thought they needed to be on two stations with low reach (52MX/CTres) and presume those stations were following the old US model of using wrestling as cheap original programming for startups.

  15. “easiest available” is one way of looking at it. I call it reliable. CMLL is reliable. Had AAA approached, or been apporoached by anyone for a second show, AAA would fuck them over somehow.

Cadena Tres is not a low reach station in DF, CMLL’s stronghold. And they have strong cable coverage around the country. If CMLL leaves Televisa, they should be able to sustain viewership in the DF market.

52mx was also strong until two months ago, when they pulled their signal from SKY/Cablevision/Cablemas/Cablecom.

Remember when WON reported that AAA would go after CMLL’s slot on FSE? Yeah. More shit talk from AAA sources. AAA can’t pull it off, and this is yet another example.

Not sure if it matters who approached who in the tv deals. Does it matter if WWE approached mynetwork or mynetwork approached WWE? Point is, the deal is done, and WWE is a reliable provider. In Mexico, AAA can’t be trusted to do anything more than the Televisa show. Remember how long it took AAA to fuck 52mx over?

  16. “I call it reliable”

A company which pulls 2 shows in the last few weeks just because the owner is upset is not my definition of “reliable”.

  17. @xuisaw: Is it reliable when Televisa changes CMLL’s timeslot?

We don’t know for a fact that Paco pulled the show. We don’t know if Televisa said that they won’t air it for some reason. We just don’t know.

  18. Televisa and all channels have the “Programming subjected to last minute changings”. So they’ve never promised being reliable. Paco pulled Mistico from Beijin, that’s giving it away…

  19. So,I think it safe to say we all think CMLL and Televisa need to split for good. It’s all up to CMLL, I think they afraid to leave Televisa because they might fall wayyyyy behind(even if that’s not the case). You seen the tv ratings that was posted, they behind and it’s not even close in terms of television audience. Lucha Libre is changing and tv is a HUGE part of that change.CMLL sees this and that’s why I think Paco is afraid to pull the plug for good.
