US: 09/06

Why DID I wait? Sololucha has the same exact results as luchalibreaaa, days earlier and all on one page. This is common, I should’ve known better.

In the main event, Konnan replaced Zorro but ended up getting into a fight with a a mystery man in black. (The Black Scorpion?) They ended up going to the back, leaving Kenzo to be submitted by Cuervo & Mesias. Cibernetico, wearing the Joker make up from the Dark Knight and Chessman managed to get along long enough for Cibernetico to chokeslam Mesias for the win.

Black Abyss helped the Vipers win the semifinal, with some mask switching. After the match, Abismo Negro made his big surprise return to save the tecnicos from a post match attack, and promptly got laid out by all 4 Vipers. ALAS. I guess that just goes to prove his point about the unfairness of Abismo vs all the Vipers!

Porky’s big losing streak is over! I think they screwed that up. Guapos, including new member Escorpion Negro (unmasked and hopefully lasting longer than his Viper stint) got DQed for excessive violence. AAA is calling them both Guapos VIP and Metrosexuals.

Morenos were the rudos in this match. On the show that just aired on US TV, they were working this feud as tecnicos (even while teaming with Ayako), so either there’s a turn that’s gotten lost somewhere or no one’s quite sure who’s what.

Order of elimination in Alas de Oro went Gato Eveready, Angel, Super Fly, Ultimo Gladiador, Scoria, Xtreme Tiger, and Teddy Hart. Of course the fans were cheering Aerostar when it came to him and Jack Evans. Aero ended up winning with a “doble mortal” – maybe a 630 senton? Sounds like Jack and Teddy want revenge = more Air Force/Hart Foundation matches!

Mini Kenzo won with a little help from Big Kenzo. Mini Kenzo looks 15, and someone has to know who he actually is.

Next taping: Friday in Mexico City. Yes, lucha libre on Friday in Mexico City.

  1. FWIW Aero Star is still losing the voting for who will win the Alas De Oro on the official AAA page.:)

  2. You know what sucks about the wrestling business is I want to make a joke post along the lines of “Rey Misterio dead!” (because they implied so much tonight on RAW), but I”m sure 75% of the people reading this wouldn’t get the reference or would just assume it’s true because a dead current wrestler isn’t so surprising.

My point: stop dying, you’re killing my comedy. THANK YOU.

  3. since i was traveling, i don’t know what aired in mexico.

CMLL 2 hours? AAA 3 hours?

  4. i was wondering, b/c AAA beat CMLL by like 3 full points.

    6.48 to 3.28 for a AAA victory.

  5. Both were 1:45 or maybe the 2 hours since I think they started earlier, I think AAA could have used the missing 15 minutes since they ended 15 before the hour but they only missed airing the women match (which had Estrellita’s top giving up)

  6. …and cmll had everything save the opener, they didn’t had any aficionado de la semana or entrenando con… I think CMLL thought they’re having 1 hour and didn’t tape the segments and went to panic having to fill up 2 hours so they just edited the blown stuff from the segunda y especial and put it on, I wouldn’t be surprised they did the editing to the segunda while the especial was airing lol

  7. Chui. You’re new name here looks like call letters for a Mexican radio station. I love it.

I have to admit, AAA is solid vs. CMLL in the ratings. But the numbers’ a far cry from those 16’s WON printed months ago. I think the 16’s WON printed were “share” not ratings.

Still CMLL can draw really big gates in Mexico City, and AAA, with more viewers, can’t even sell out the Palacio.

  8. The 16 thing was for the blowout match with Mesias and Ciber late in 2006, when the lucha boom was at it’s peak, I thik they said the show had like 12 points which would mean it was like doing 8-10 and the peak improved their overall rating. You should also consider that “Bailando por un Sueño”, which had 40+ points of rating featured Latin Lover as it’s top star and was seen as a AAA guy and gave the lots of exposure, but that was a long time ago…

The boom is long gone, CMLL will take a year without selling ArMex out and even the anniversary will have to do it on name value and AAA didn’t even sold out Madero neither and have said to be doing Verano at Benito Juarez, not Nvo Progreso, so they’re obviously scaling down their stuff.

  9. Keith, do you have the ratings for the soccer games? AAA was going against America’s game, which is the biggest draw in the country, so I wonder how they did…

  10. The editing of the segunda was weird b/c by the photos it doesn’t look like anything was blown. It looks like they just edited out the big dives for no reason.

  11. @xuisaw: I think America vs. Morelia was on SKY, so the ratings won’t show up, since I was reading the ratings for “Over-the-air” only.

UNAM vs. Toluca did a 5.5 on Canal 2 vs. AAA.

I don’t believe anything did a 16.0 rating. When Santo did the todoxtodo show, it did a 9.3, and was the highest rated sports program on Canal 9 that month.

  12. It would be good if you post these numbers with your new friends @ ByL or if you let me do so (they are ibope numbers, right?)
