07/27: Mistico, AULL

superluchas

Mistico must’ve done an interview with the general press after winning Leyenda de Plata, because there are one two versions of it floating around slightly different. The main thrust is the same – Mistico is sick of people booing. They can cheer for the tecnicos or cheer for the rudos, but he’s upset with the fans booing when they’re doing everything they can for them. There’s also a odd digression where Mistico says he could go out to the ring and strip like (unnamed) other wrestlers, but he doesn’t do that because guys like himself and Perro Jr. are professionals and those sort of antics discredit their work. Mistico says he learned the move he used to beat Perro while in China (so that’s where Abismo went) and plans to learn more while at the Olympics.

(Sololuchas) Felino says he’s not the father of Puma King and Tiger Kidd, which seems to contractdict other interviews. He does compare both with Heavy Metal, and either refers to himself or Metal as their uncle. I’m not sure, but Felino does seem to say they’re related. I have no idea what this means except the kids are in the family somewhere. Felino says his own kids are in elementary school and does mention Princesa Blanca is his wife.

The most interesting thing about the Accion highlights was the lineup for the AAA title shot match. Intocable was listed, instead of Alan Stone, and Abismo Negro was listed, instead of Black Abyss. That’s too much on the nose to be a total accident. Ozz springboarding to the middle rope and standing there so Parka can punch him out has to be the silliest thing ever. Mesias pulled Parka’s mask while throwing him out, then ran into a Chessman hiptoss to the floor. Chessman took of his HB shirt after leaving Cibernetico in the ring; unfortunate they still have weeks of tag matches left.

CMLL highlights were Mistico/Perro, including the pre-empted runin and finish.

Ovaciones reprints an old column about El Santo’s first two years, on the anniversary of his debut. There’s a sidebar about today’s lineups in Coliseo, IWRG and elsewhere.

AULL (SAT) 07/19 Arena Lopez Mateos [SuperLuchas #274]
1) Mini Tortuga Ninja I & Mini Tortuga Ninja II b Gringo Loco (indy) & Pequeno Demonio
2) Juan el Ranchero, Psicopata, Super Panda b Misterio, Trauma I, Trauma II
3) Enigmatica & Josseline b Flor Metalica & Fugitiva
4) Rey Krimen, Sadico, Sepulturero I b Robin Maravilla, Terry 2000, Yakuza [AULL TRIOS]
5) Epitafio, Herejia, Zumbido b Intocable, Quimico Jr, Super Calo

Zumbido snuck in a foul on Intocable, and they may be working on a feud there. Intocable also has an interview in the magazine. Not a lot new, but I’m thinking Intocable is making it clear he’s not on bad terms with AAA because they might own the name.

SuperLuchas also has a writeup on a show two Saturday ago where Coco Negro and Pentagon III wrestled with the masks they lost. The commission actually stopped the match and ordered them to take off their mask before they could wrestle anymore. So someone still cares about that.

Scorpio Jr. win Rey del Ring. SuperLuchas has all the entrance order and elimination order and I may put that over on the wiki later on. Final three was Zumbido, Hijo de Cien Caras Jr. and Scorpio Jr. Cien beat Zumbido, but Scorpio beat him for the win. Match went over 90 minutes.

  1. I totally forget Princesa Blanca is married to Felino every time I see her wrestle. They should give her Ana Barbara music when she comes out, though. I guess just about every female in Lucha is married to or dating someone in the business.

  2. I’m sure you’ll get to this tomorrow but for those who can’t wait – Bam Bam is the new CMLL mini’s champ. I’m happy and sad at the news.

Princesa Blanca got into CMLL after leaving AAA and only began wearing Felino’s gear to the ring a couple of months after her debut. I wonder if it was a situation where she had to hook up with someone to keep her gig.;)

  3. The Rey Del Ring looks so random that I love it even more. Ave Fenix never shows up for months and all of a sudden he’s in the match as FENIX. Goleador gets like 1 match in the promotion but here he is! Why have both Traumas work when you can only use one! And of course the Gemelos Fantasticos enter at opposite ends of the match. So awesome looking.

If only the cops could learn to be friends they’d have the best odds since there were 5 of them in the match.

  4. this is too much. still nothing on AAA in San Jose or LA. Even Bob Barnett didn’t go to the Sports Arena to attend a barbeque with a bunch of white wine sipping liberals in Ventura.

  5. Amazingly enough, the Chinese developed the pedigree independently from American, Mexican and Japanese wrestling. You can see it in the subtle variations.

  6. I’m happy for AAA. I don’t like the new style with all the tables, flames, chairs, high-risk jumps, but it’s good for Lucha Libre.
