CMLL (FRI) 07/25 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, La Aficion, Ovaciones, ESTO]
1) Mini Universo 2000 & Pierrothito vs Nino de Acero & Pequeno Ninja
2) Flash, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. DQ Dragon Rojo Jr., Satánico, Virus
3) Alex Shelley b Último Guerrero, Chris Sabin, Shocker, Marco Corelone, Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza, Johnny Devine, Jay Lethal, Dos Caras Jr., AJ Styles, Sonjay Dutt, Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr., Averno, Alex Koslov [Gran Prix, ciber]
4) Místico b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo [Leyenda de Plata, final]
While there were two trophies on the line last night, a few wrestlers were actually going for an third unbilled crown – Greatest Man In The World. Ultimo Guerrero was seconds away from being the man last night, but had it stolen away. Perro Jr. showed atypical willingness to continue the fight and not take the cheap way to a conclusion, but still couldn’t survive. Mistico remains unbeatable and unstoppable when it matters, and is undoubtedly at the top.
Main event went about tweleve minutes. Perro took the first fall, with a big of cheating and the double stomp. Mistico took back the second fall with La Mistica, causing enough pain that Perro needed the arm to be checked out in the second fall. Mistico went after the hurt arm in the third fall, Aguayo trying to escape the whole way and managing to break free from La Mistica twice. As with last week, Los Perros came down to work a distraction, but Hector Garza and Dos Caras Jr. ran them off. (If only Dr. Wagner had friends!) Mistico changed tactics to win, finishing Perro off with what everyone’s reporting as a martinete and looks to me like Averno’s finish. Regardless, it was determined as fair (nothing but a tombstone style piledriver is every punished) and Mistico pin Perro for his third straight Leyenda de Plata victory. After the match, Perro invited Mistico to join Perros del Mal. Mistico declined, and challenged Perro to a mask vs hair match. No acceptance there either. Mistico is apparently around a little bit longer before heading back to China for the Olympics.
The Gran Prix was timed as nearly 1 full hour, so it’ll surely be cut up for TV. Johnny Devine did indeed wrestle instead of Chris Daniels (who I think may be in San Diego for the ComicCon right now, but I don’t remember.) Order of elimination, via SuperLuchas:
1) Alex Koslov (via Rey Bucanero – REY OWNS ALEX)
2) Averno (via Sonjay Dutt)
3) Volador Jr. (via Jay Lethal)
4) Rey Bucanero (via AJ Styles – note the run of Mexico eliminations)
5) Sonjay Dutt (via Garza)
6) AJ Styles (via UG, and a low blow)
7) Dos Caras Jr. (via Corelone – HMMMMM)
8) Jay Lethal (via Dr. Wagner)
9) Johnny Devine (via Shocker)
10) Hector Garza (via Corelone)
11) Dr. Wagner Jr. (via Sabin & Shelley double superkick)
12) Marco Corelone (via Shocker & UG after a failed Air Italia)
At this point, they’re down to Alex Shelly & Chris Sabin vs the unlikely duo of Shocker & Ultimo Guerrero
13) Shocker (via Sabin & Shelley double superkick)
14) Chris Sabin (via Ultimo Guerrero)
Shelley survived the middle rope powerbomb, and reversed the Guerrero Special into a shiranu, but neither man could get teh three count. Shelley put on one of his submission moves – the Border City Stretch? – yanking off UG’s mask in the process. Ultimo gave up, and Alex Shelley became the first foreign winner of the tournament since Steel in 1997.
Ultimo challenged Alex to a mask vs hair match. Alex deffered a response until he had more time to think about it and relax. TNA tapes this week, so if they’ve got any plans for following up on any of this, it’ll come out then. At the least, the Motor City Machine Guns would seem to be the obvious opponents for UG & Rey when they work those two TNA spot shows.
In other action, the tecnicos won the segunda when Dragon Rojo Jr. pulled off Micltan’s mask.
El Hijo del Santo visited with kids in Tijuana before wrestling there last night.

CMLL (TUE) 07/29 Arena Mexico

4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Vangelis

Is there some big show elsewhere that explains Vangelis being in the semimain here? Trios champs try for three straight weeks of non-title wins.
CMLL (FRI) 08/01 Arena Mexico
1) Puma King & Tiger Kid vs Sombra de Plata & Tigre Blanco
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, La Nazi, Princesa Sujei

Going out on a limb: no clean pinfall in the main event. Who will NOT turn on a teammate in that match? Who had “Week 3” in the “When will CMLL.com drop Jr. from Dragon Rojo” pool? He and Micltan are matched up here again.
Have not seen results from AAA in Queretaro yet. I’ll post them later this evening if they turn up.

No mention of the biggest news of the week…. Sombrita returns!!~ :D I only hope they show the opener next week as they haven’t for a while, and probably won’t tonight if it was 2 v 1 for part of it.
Tuesdays C3 card looks great…almost. The only thing letting it down is the usual CMLL problem; lower/midcard shitty tecnicos. But in the segunda it won’t matter as Los Romanos will just be kicking their ass anyway :).
Friday has a real weak lineup – and who the hell is Mictlan allowing to violate him in return for Arena Mex tercera booking?
Rey del Ring is now just a regular rumble match, with 3 minutes between each guy entering the ring. Cerebro Negro and Nuevos Oficiales are finally used again, unlike the AAA guys, I guess they can not find someone to book them (well, Cerebro Negro does in Puebla)
No over the third rope rule, btw.
Oh man, I need to see this TONIGHT.
~rl
The Rey Del Ring has always been a favorite match of mine. Hopefully they didn’t tinker with it too much and still do the 4 guys in at a time, right? Did Turbo make an appearence?
Last night looks good. I skipped the exact results from the Torneo hoping to be surprised when it airs today or gets uploaded tomorrow. I did see it went an hour which is good news but also bad news since there is no way it’ll get on TV that way. I sense another Torneo joined at the first elimination and edited to death afterwards.
Yay Mistico!!!
Not the strongest week of lineups if you’re looking for great matches but it looks like an important week when it comes to building future matches.
Tuesday:
– Good to see Electrico and Sombrita back.
– GREAT to see Caligula/Messala back on TV and look who they are booked against once again: Starman and Molotov. Same four guys who ripped masks at Arena Mexico last week. No coincidence here.
– I don’t get Vangelis being up there either. He must have totally conned CMLL into a sweet deal for giving his belt to Mistico.
Friday:
– Opener looks awesome.
– I’m not overly pissed about Mictlan in the tercera b/c I think they are actually going to go through with this Mictlan vs Dragon Rojo Jr. feud leading to a mask match unlike the dropped feud with Fabian. Once he unmasks the next step for Mictlan is out the door since he’ll be useless and CMLL comes out looking good giving a member of Texano’s family a little extra payday so everyone wins.:)
– Main event should set the stage for the Anniversary show since it’ll be Mistico’s last appearence.
AAA.com didn’t have Queretaro results last I checked but they did note Octagoncito beat Mini Chessman to advance and Atomic Boy (ex-Mini Dizzy) beat Mascarita De La Muerte to also advance. So right now we have:
Mini Abismo Negro vs Mascarita IV
Octagoncito vs Atomic Boy
Mini Charly/Jerrito Estrada vs Mascarita Divina/Mini Kenzo
I’d guess Mini Charly/Mascarita Divina will be paired up and the Verano final will be Mini Abismo vs Octcito vs Mini Charly.
So is it just me or does the feed have no video but does have sound?
Same thing here.
Yeah it appears to be the case. Last week it had issues till halfway during the show too.
There were 10 guys in the ring at once at times. No Turbo.
CMLL seems will only have GP and LdP.
That blows. It was better when IWRG had their own concept rather than just flat out ripping off the Royal Rumble.
heh Just by listening I could tell there was already an edit 1 minute in.:P Right to Koslov’s elimination.
heh I just heard another edit.:) Oh well.
CMLL.com put up videos of the main event already.
When will the Grand Prix match air in the U.S.? Plus, what channel is on?
It won’t.
The Mistico match looked like it could have been real fun…. if it had lasted 20 minutes or so.
If it only went 12, i doubt that it could have been anything other than a wild, rushed spotfest. 5 dives?? That’s a bit ott. Anyone else done that since Volador when he got injured?
The finisher was pretty cool though. Mistico is a Sickboy fan :)
Let’s not get totally distracted with what we can’t see though and focus on what we can see… the mini’s on C3 soon!:D
And of course the C3 feed is down.:) What’s that realplayer link again?
Found it.
No commentary for the show? I like.
Wanna share it? :)
It’s ok, got it now. Cheers. :)
I thought you always watched on RealPlayer anyways since you said the other feed is too choppy for you.
This no commentary deal better stick!
I used to just find one of those dozens of internet Tv sites – the feed they linked to was usually opened through realplayer and it was usually better. But for the last 6 weeks or so i’ve been getting the WMP feed a lot smoother, which is better as i can also lighten the picture a bit.
I think half the time, it’s more to do with my unpredictable computer than the feeds themselves. :)
Greatest headscissors ever!!!
Fun little match as expected. I hope Dragoncito’s ok as he’s awesome. :(
MADNESS – ABSOLUTE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6 ROTATION SATELLITE HEADSCISSORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And then he follows it up with an insane dive he’s never done before!
MASCARITA DORADA = AWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESOME!
But poor Ultimo Dragoncito.:( The replays looked especially painful. Looks like he took the brunt of the fall on his left elbow.
That was an awesome match though. This is the greatest group of mini’s ever. Is it just me or is Damiancito not only the most charasmatic wrestler in the world but doesn’t it seem like he’s having an absolute blast when he’s inside the ring?
Oh yeah I should make mention that Pequeno Halloween had new AMAZING facepaint.
Thanks Maximo, I just threw up in my mouth.
“That was an awesome match though. This is the greatest group of mini’s ever. Is it just me or is Damiancito not only the most charasmatic wrestler in the world but doesn’t it seem like he’s having an absolute blast when he’s inside the ring?”
Yes! Yes!!. His awesomeness knows no bounds.
I never tire of him kicking the asses of those damn little pests, Tzuki and Dorada! – And clearly, neither does he :D
Aw Henrik, you’re feed must have crapped out at the finish. Let me explain what happened:
Mascarita Dorada OWNED Damiancito.
The end.:)
Boy the crowd really doesn’t like Axxel.:)
God Real player is god awful. That feed is nothing but choppy.
Bah, Damiancito doesn’t care about little things like match wins – it’s all about beating little guys up and bringing pain to them. Besides, his shoulder was up. Pathetic, tecnico-biased referee!! :)
Axxel hasn’t looked too bad today either. And he was pretty good in his match in the Gran Alternativa. I still don’t know what to make of him. Unpredictable and erratic i think could cover it.
Axxel is fine in my book, he just REALLY needs a new look. Not a new name. He could call himself EL HIJO DE NINO DE LA CALLE and he’d still be boo’ed if he dressed like Santo. He needs to drop the ripoff mask and silver outfit, plain and simple.
C3 is doing a feature on Felino now and he just admitted he is married to Princesa Blanca.
Volador’s outfit looks awesome.
I hope the feed for Gala fixes itself for tomorrow b/c I am dying to see the AAA MTY show.
I was about to be shocked they did a second fall dive sequence until Bucanero yanked off V-Jr.’s mask.:)
The CMLL ticketmaster page is selling tickets for an August 16th (Saturday) show featuring the regular CMLL crew so we should be prepared for a special show that night.
Gran Prix + Mistico vs Perrito should be up by tomorrow morning under the user account ‘lawagnermania’ on youtube.
It is already up. At least the Gran Prix is. That wagnermania guy rules. CMLL’s editing sucks so bad. They missed the Jindrak Leap to start the match.
Well part 1 is up. I’m waiting till the entire thing is ready.
Part 2 is up too and Part 3 will probably be up soon. Did Divine injure Hector somehow? Looked like right after Averno was eliminated, they did a edit with Devine asking if he was alright.
We Canadians are loving people, we don’t hurt anyone.
Hahhahahahahaha Henrik – watch the first two clips!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=-osb0y22RRM
Whoever bought tix on that side of the ring must have regretted it.:)
*LMAO* I’m sorry but the Gran Prix was awful. Well… at least what aired on TV… but the entire last 25 minutes or so of the match aired and it was pretty bad for the most part. Corleone was probably the star of the match and he was also put over huge.
The crowd reactions were GOLDEN. They had no clue who the TNA guys were and when Wagner got pinned by Shelley it was more of a “who is this guy that just eliminated our Mexican hero?” reaction rather than a “damn I hate that guy!” reaction. And when Shelley won the match the silence was deafening! *L* I don’t think the crowd believed Mexico lost until the fireworks went off.
I’m interested to see how other people viewed the match.
BTW, the only dives in the Gran Prix that aired were when there were four guys left + Corleone’s plancha to start the match. If you watch the intro to the TV show + clips before the first commercial though you can see 5 or 6 dives from what didn’t air.
I liked the match. I knew the crowd reactions would be like that becuase no one knows who TNA is outside of America and even America doesn’t know. Marco was the star of the match no doubt. The only TNA guy that impressed me was Jay Lethal. And your Fellow Canadian Johnny Devine sucks Rob.
Besides the crowd reactions, What was so horrible about it?
It just wasn’t a good match. Too much stop/start which meant no flow and some very awkward exchanges. I expected better. It would have been a better match in TNA since the CMLL guys go nuts with the posing in Mexico so they can half-ass it.
