2) Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Tzuki Ultimo Dragoncito
3) Dragon Rojo Jr. & Último Guerrero b Ángel Azteca Jr. & Shocker [gran alternativa, torneo, quarterfinal]
4) Axel & Blue Panther b Puma King & Villano V [gran alternativa, torneo, qf]
5) Bronco III & Mr. Niebla b Astro Boy & Héctor Garza [gran alternativa, torneo, qf]
6) Dos Caras Jr. & Metalik b Atlantis & Skandalo [gran alternativa, torneo, qf]
7) Dragon Rojo Jr. & Último Guerrero b Axel & Blue Panther [gran alternativa, torneo, sf]
8) Dos Caras Jr. & Metalik b Bronco III & Mr. Niebla [gran alternativa, torneo, sf]
9) Dragon Rojo Jr. & Último Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr. & Metalik [gran alternativa, torneo, final]
10) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Dr. Wagner Jr. [Leyenda de Plata, semifinal]
The main event was three falls. Aguayo won the first in a minute, Wagner won the second under two minutes. In the third, Wagner was in control when Mr. Aguila, Texano and Damian came walking down the ramp. The referee and the commission went to cut them off, which allowed someone else in a Wagner mask to sneak in and try to foul the authentic Dr. Wagner. Wagner stopped him, and pulled off the fake’s mask to reveal Terrible. Perro used that distraction to foul Wagner for the win. Fans threw garbage in the ring.
Perros offered Wagner a t-shirt to join the group. Despite saying he’d join the group if he lost, Wagner refused. (Wagner used the cheating as his out.) It’s Perro vs Mistico next week.
Not much to say about the Gran Alternativa. Perhaps because they only had 4 matches scheduled, there were no super fast tournament matches. Quarterfinals matches were between 6-8 minutes, semis were 3 minutes, main event was almost 6. No Atlantis turn. Panther beat V5 in the first round, but lost to UG in the second round, and there’s no hint anything progressed there. No definite word on Dragon Rojo’s reward, just general talk about being moved to main events.
Ovaciones says IWRG’s Azteca show is moving to channel 13, and may be available in Mexico City by September. Arturo Rivera’s column is in there too, and he off hand matches that the next US tour, after these two shows in California, is planned to be 10 days long.
TNA’s advertising Rey & UG on their Texas spot shows the 1st (a Friday) and 2nd of August. I don’t know if they draw in Texas, but might as well find out. (Thanks Phil)
CMLL (TUE) 07/22 Arena Mexico
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Semental & Zayco
2) Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween, Pequeño Warrior
3) Axel, Máximo, Metalik vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Grey Shadow, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Heavy Metal, Misterioso II, Mr. Niebla
Trios champs again in non-title matchup. Perhaps they just want to own Tuesday nights.
CMLL (FRI) 07/25 Arena Mexico
1) Nino de Acero & Pequeno Ninja vs Mini Universo 2000 & Pierrothito
2) Flash, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Satánico, Virus
3) Averno, Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza, Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. vs AJ Styles, Alex Koslov, Alex Shelley, Chris Daniels, Chris Sabin, Jay Lethal, Marco Corelone, Sonjay Dutt [Gran Prix]
4) Místico vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo [LdP, final]
Main event is actually listed as “2007 winner vs 2008 winner” – is that supposed to be a hint? Odd.
TNA does end up sending Chris Daniels instead of Johnny Devine. It’s a 50/50 shot if Curry Man shows up instead. The Mexico side actually makes sense: the 4 guys from this X Cup, and two previous Mexico X Cup captains.
That’s not really an upgrade in status for ex-Diamante Negro, but no other novato is making this tournament.

Stream seems to be down.:(
The opener last night had mask ripping and ended with a DQ after Starman’s mask was yanked off. Weird.
Sounds like Tzuki got hurt in Madero and had to be replaced last night.:( Sounds like Pierrothito got hurt bad in the match.
Main event sounds shitty as hell. They’ve done that angle a billion times already with one group distracting everyone and another guy sneaking in from behind (most recently the 3/21 PPV). You’d think someone would catch on by now. But at least it’s Perrito vs Mistico as predicted.
I’m surprised Metalik went so far in the tournament. Sounds like he did the best job out of the tecnicos too as he didn’t blow any spots according to the reports. Astro Boy blew a big spot in the first round so that should take his value down big time, Mistico’s brother or not.
Next Tuesday looks like it could have a couple of fun C3 matches.
Friday’s card is as expected although I’d have not put Dragon Rojo Jr. on the card and just waited to debut him in a semi-main on 8/1 or put him in the Tuesday main by reversing the rudo teams for the semi and main.
They’ll have two hours today so that they can air TNA.
So nothing from last night?
Feed just popped up for anyone interested.
I’ve never been able to get the main xejtv feed, but i’m getting a picture tonight, now that the official xejtv site is using some ustream.tv program – but it’s a bit stop/start. Any better ways of trying to watch it? – i wouldn’t mind seeing the Gran Alternativa as i’m not interested at all in C3 today (well, i’ll check to see if Fire makes Tv, but that’s it)
Aw the semi-main on C3 could be fun. Sombra/Euforia are a great combo.
The ustream is what I use as it seems to play perfectly, way better than before. Anyone have any alternate ways to watch?
Ah well, maybe it’s just my pc, i think it’s slowly dying on me anyway :(
How long’s this Torneo been on for anyway, did they show highlights of the quarter finals, or did it just start at the semis?
No Fire.:(
Dos Jr.’s blown spot in the final looked more embarassing than painful.:)
Considering they were an hour in at the second semi-final when I joined, I’d assume everything aired.
You know I expect the announcers to get the foreign names wrong but how do you list Volador Jr. and Ultimo Guerrero teaming when it’s most obviously Rey Bucanero out there?
Looks like they’re just airing highlights of Mexico’s matches, not stuff in full.
So the show is back to 2hrs? D’you think they aired the mini’s? :)
*If* we’re back to 2hrs and the main show airs top 3, then with another 4 match card next week (assuming the Grand prix is a cibernetico), we might, just might get Sunday top 4 on one of the 2 b-shows
So there could be a slim chance of Neutron and Tigre Blanco airing! That’s assuming if it does show up, it’s on FSE and not 52Mx.
Ok, ‘slim’ as in about 1%, but still. Then again, knowing my luck as far as Neutron on TV is concerned, it probably will air…. only to be lost because there’s no 52MX supplier anymore :(
Yep, how are they going to fill the remaining 34 minutes with a 6 minute match?
This tecnico trio is almost as bad as the Fabian/Leono/Rivera team they used to have team up all the time.
Well it’s scheduled for 2 hours next week but I’d guess the Gran Prix goes long and they added new segments to the show which take up lots of time (training with Olimpico – conveniently leaving out the part about getting a needle in his ass).
There’s no way the mini’s made TV, probably only GdR next weekend.
Oh god… Fabian is going to kill someone one day instead of just nearly crippling them like he did with Okumura.
Hahaha, way to go Fabian. Bodyslam of DEATH because he can’t hit a Gory special!
Now all we need is Mictlan to hit his high-elevation, insane, spectacular somersault-into dropkick spot, like the one he wowed us with in the Coliseo tourney! Paul Roma and Mr Perfect had nothing on Mictlan :D
FABIAN IS ON FIRE! He totally let Vangelis die on that somersault dive. For those who didn’t see it, it went something like this:
*SPLAT*
Haha, i was nearly crying with laughter after seeing that slo-mo. Shades of Hitman/Jean Pierre Lafitte in their IYH match :)
Poor Vangelis.
Nazi supporter, Henrik?:P
1:10 left for 2 matches. So unless one of these goes waaaaaaaaaaaay longer than usual, I wonder why they didn’t air the opener.
CMLL is awful with the editing. Why not show the FULL MAIN EVENT?
I wasn’t watching but I’m curious to see how you can edit a 6 minute match.
Because they don’t want to give Wagner any exposure.
Yeah, i suppose. But then if i hated Vangelis, i’d also have to hate Stuka Jr, so it’s a tough one :)
Now that we know Sagrado’s injury was not serious, i’d just like to now say that his theatrics in the LdP were absolutely hilarious, especially when he fell off the stage into the crowd – the big pussy!! :D
I think Sagrado was working hurt here. He never bumped on his bad elbow and was very limited in everything he did. Pretty decent match.
Can’t have been that bad if he hit his moonsault. When he got hurt you could have been forgiven for thinking he had just been tasered – he was like a chicken that had just been decapitated :D
Quick clip of Dos Jr.’s botch: http://youtube.com/watch?v=5upAoHeCZNs
At least he’s creative enough to botch that spot differently each time, he’s creative, I’ll give him that.
Before it becomes even less relevant, last week FSE show seemed to have Stuka Jr feuding with Vangelis, I guess each wants the title of “The Real Hitler heir”
I was gone all day. What aired on CMLL? Was it one or two hours?
I saw a little AAA and saw a national ad for both LA and San Jose. Saw the same ad during Bandamax at noon. Marquez is a good promoter. If AAA can’t succeed with him, they won’t at all in the US.
Two hours but sucked just the same, although the GA was a bit less edited, crowd was not into it, and they only aired that and 35% of the main event. Only thing of note is that GA was won by a Lagunero – 2 out of 3 for the last 3 years (Misterioso II, Dragon Rojo Jr)
Don’t you mean the 3 last years or does Sombra not count b/c he’s a tecnico?
Exactly! (The later)
AH.
See I always thought whether you are a tecnico or rudo fan, wrestlers from your hometown take priority.
Anyways, Sombra rules. He has two titles. How many titles do Misterioso and the guy in the Gran Naniwa mask have?:P
I’m thinking AAA could do well in California. The publicity has been good. Galavision is running spots all day promoting both Lucha de Vuelta and the tour. There is hope. If this bombs, it’s not because the promoter didn’t get the word out.
@Rob: Misterioso is Rey del Yoghurt!!! 20 titles can’t top that!
Don’t worry, Sombra will turn, it will take more time than Konnan’s tecnico run, Roldan turning on Cibernetico or Atlantis’ turning tecnico, but it’ll happen…
Save for Shocker and Atlantis, GA was pretty lame in that “stars” didn’t job to the rookies, extra lame for VV and Mr Niebla who didn’t even got beat.
Even more noteworthy, is that the last 2 GA winners were training at a tiny little Gimnasio no one had heard before (or now) just last year.
Rob,
That botch by Dos jr. was SPECTACULAR. I’m glad I put my drink down because that would’ve been cause for a spit take if I hadn’t. At least he found a way to botch it without actually hurting himself, but that was pretty damn amusing.
Looks like the entire GA is going up on youtube if you check out this user’s page: La Wagnermania
Did I tune in late or did AAA skip the Pirata’s kids match?
And when’s the last time AAA used a 4 sided ring?
Piratitas aired.
I think AAA booked the wrong arena, there’s no Santo on the roster or young Konnan that could draw that big of crowd.
I could be possibly wrong and AAA might pull out a miracle.
Bah. Probably doesn’t matter anyways since the feed is the worse I’ve ever seen it.
@USAUSA1: There are so many more Mexicans in the US compared to 1993 and 1994. And wherever you seem them, there are many. They do everything in LARGE groups. Never two or three people. Always 6 to 12 people. I see them at the beaches, public parks, ice cream shops, restaurants, etc…. Never mom, dad, and the two kids. More like, mom, dad, three kids, tia maria, los abuelos, primos, etc…….. This US-Hispanic lifestyle can pay off for AAA. Only possible mistake was not having a kids price. But with almost forty fly-ins, they could not afford it.
when does CMLL air on FSA in Mexico with a new episode each week? I see it airs up to four times.
@luchalibrelive!: Friday afternoon, I think.
