CMLL FSE #95 (06/07)

taped 05/25, aired in the US on 06/07

This is where FSE skipped 3 episodes. I’ll just pretend there was an episode they said hi to me in here. Yea…

Anyway, both the opener and the main event were fun. They’re not all they could be, but they’re more than they usually are in on this show. It’s funny that the one time Metalik doesn’t actually almost kill himself in a match is the time I make a joke about it anyway. Sangre Azteca’s finisher is one of my favorite things in all of wrestling.

Main was fun in the 1+1+9 format. Alex keeps coming close to winning titles – maybe he’d go all the way if he knew all the rules. I didn’t plan it out this way, but it works out nice that you can compare/contrast this with the TNA match tonight.

  1. that was a good match, i hadnt watched it again since it aired. thanks for putting that up. it seems that when we thought that TNA saw this match and that’s why they booked them together was incorrect. after watching the TNA match and the title match again, it would seem that TNA just heard that they wrestled each other as the TNA match just wasnt all that good. the total time from bell to final 3, was 1 minute 26 seconds. that’s just wrong. what’s the point of paying to bring in talent if you’re not going to use them. TNA is so backwards.

  2. Yeah… so I flipped back and forth between old Leaf games and TNA waiting for the match and caught about ten billion NOT FUNNY AT ALL skits where Angle tried to audition for an acting role by doing an old gag from Seinfeld. Each skit lasted FOREVER. Then the World X Cup match finally came and was over before Tenay was done introducing each guy. Wow.

This shit actually has a fanbase?

  3. TNA is a definite DVR. The Angels stuff is just un-watchable and apparently it’s been some of the lowest rated segments on Impact, so of course TNA must continue to make it the most important thing on the shows. Only segments last week to gain viewers was the World X-Cup Tag and The Bimbo Brawl, what does that say?

  4. Well the other shockingly revelation to me tonight was that Kurt’s wife has a role in TNA. WTF? I am sooooooooooooo out of the loop when it comes to U.S. wrestling and DAMN HAPPY ABOUT IT.

    Is that his legit wife?

As long as I’m asking ignorant questions – is Eddy Guerrero’s wife still working for the WWE to “honor” (hahahahahaha) him?

  5. yes it’s Karen is Kurt’s real wife, and yes Vickie is the GM of Smackdown. she’s been wheelchair bound storyline wise for about 6 months now and is “engaged” to Edge and they were set to be “married” on the 7/12 Smackdown but tomorrow night the show will end with Edge calling off the wedding. it doesnt honor Eddie at all by having his widow make out on national tv with another man, in my opinion it disgraces him. hopefully with this wedding angle out of the way she’ll no longer have an on air role.

and i agree that Karen Angle should have nothing to do with wrestling and is a waste of time. it’s because of her that the Rey/Alex match was a minute long, as they need the air time to have her cutting stupid promos with A.J. Styles. i’m really starting to dislike TNA, as they ruin wrestlers. Mickie Knuckles forced to wrestle under the name Moose. Nikki Roxx having her head shaved. Christopher Daniels having to become a joke wrestler and the fact that they now ruined the Curry Man gimmick. they must not have seen wrestle under that mask in Japan, where he actually wrestles. Kevin Nash should no longer be wrestling, yet still does. the only positive is that James Storm is finally getting the push that he deserves. he’s one of the only reasons i watch TNA anymore. the World X Cup is the worst crap in wrestling right now. i’d rather watch a chimpanzee wrestle an alligator. i was excited tonight to see Milano Collection A.T. wrestle his first televised american match, but then i remembered who he was facing and what promotion was putting on the match. it’s disgraceful.

  6. I would hope Bucanero/Koslov didn’t go a legit 1:26. I’m guessing they edited it down in the name of cramming more “sports entertainment” down our throats. I was told that the Curry Man/Koslov match from a few weeks ago was a fair amount longer than what actually aired on Impact, so perhaps the same thing happened with this show.

  7. Just on the World X Cup, i’ve only seen Alex/Daniels and Speed Muscle/GdI and the latter was pretty fun… it got more than 10 minutes too!

  8. BTW, yhere’s World X Cup stuff up on strong style symphony if anyone is looking for it.
