04/21: Coliseo, Monterrey

Apocalipsis/CMLL

In addition to everything else, I’ve been sick for the last couple of days and still am. I hope this is coherent but do not expect it to be so.

CMLL (SUN) 04/20 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Sombra de Plata b Carrona & Cholo
2) Apocalipsis, Euforia, Nosferatu b Metálico, Neutrón, Tony Rivera
3) Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán b Dr. X, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
4) Damián 666, Misterioso II, Satanico b Alex Koslov, Felino, Máximo
5) Sangre Azteca, Toscano, Último Guerrero DQ Grey Shadow, Místico, Negro Casas

Shadow and Alex were swapped, and it seems like there was a chance of plans here. After a couple weeks of UG/Mistico build, the finish here was Sangre faking a low blow from Shadow. It’ll be those two in a singles match next Sunday.

Alex didn’t get to be in the main event, but did get Maximo hitting on him. So that’s something. Satanico replaced Texano.

Micltan knocked himself out on a dive (looks like a tope con giro that went short). He was taken to the hospital and regained consciousness, but was not 100%. I hope they don’t let him rush back to the ring.

indy (SUN) 04/20 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Aguila Extrema & Guerrero Blanco b Diabolik & Euforia (Monterrey)
2) Mascarita Sagrada & Mini Octagoncito b Mini Abismo Negro & Mini Histeria
3) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Aerostar, La Momia, Sangre Chicana
4) Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz b Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Super Calo
5) La Parka Jr., Laredo Kid, Octagón b Antifaz del Norte, Espíritu, Kenzo Suzuki

indy (TUE) 04/22 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Chuy Escobedo Jr. & Puma Negro vs Black Rider & Mortifero
2) Huesitos & Rey Demonio Jr. vs La Furia & Viernes 13
3) Angel Negro & Corazon Adicto vs Genocida & Mariposa Monarca
4) Tonina Jackson vs Red Flamer [FILL SH]
5) Golden Boy, Super Nico, Ultramán Jr. vs Ejecutor, Jaque Mate, Simbolo

AAA (TUE) 04/29 Gimnasio el Parque Revolucion, Culiacan, Sinaola [rodi-619 @ box y lucha]
1) Oriental vs Casandro [CHIKARA WELTER]
2) Extreme Tiger & Halloween vs Crazy Boy & Joe Lider [extreme]
3) Cibernetico vs Chessman, Black Abyss, Mesias [cage]

Now I’m seeing things, not a good sign. I’m hoping Chui or someone can explain what I’m misunderstanding. Oriental is the one meant to be defending to the title that doesn’t actually exist in CHIKARA. Maybe this is the “Intercontinental” title?

CMLL PYCV (SUN) 05/04 Poliforum Zamna de Merida [Yucacool @ el Martinete]
1) Anubis, Buitre Lee, Fugitivo Maya vs Angel Infernal, Fuego Infernal, Lobo Salvaje
2) Suicida Jr., Torinito, Tormenta Negra Jr. vs Panther Boy, Proverbio, Rebelde Punk
3) Luna Mágica & Marcela vs la Bruja & Princesa Sujei
4) El Dandy, Enrique Vera, Rey Persa vs Black Terry, Enfermero Jr., the Killer Jr.
5) Averno & Místico vs La Sombra & Último Guerrero [ri]

Tiger Hispano says he suffered a fractured rib from Hector Garza’s inadverdant dropkick. It did look rough, because he got dropkicked back first into the turnbuckle instead of just being knocked down. He’s supposed have total rest for three weeks, but he made an appearance on Sunday’s Coliseo show to explain his absence.

Feburary’s WWA show, where Dr. Wagner beat Nicho for his WWA Junior Heavyweight Title aired on the Pacific Spanish Network Television. (El Misterioso @ box y lucha). I’d never heard of this network until that post.

This is the box y lucha thread discussing Nicho’s apparent return to AAA. I think we need to start a pool on how many TV taping he’ll last this time. Anyway, it read that Nicho’s reason for not coming to the IWRG shows was that they never agreed on money.

El Martinete will be interviewing Tinieblas, and posted a questions thread on their board.

Bolivan female wrestling now appears to include fire spots. I’m thinking that’s not the smartest idea with those long skirts. Sure looks like they drew a big crowd in those pictures.

Ovaciones is still down. This has happened before, and at least there’s more sources for news than in the past.

This story about a new show Latin Lover is doing digresses into a controversy about real vs fake. Not about lucha libre, but about Latin Lover’s butt. I don’t know how to follow that.

  1. TuSuperestacion may actually have a US affiliate in San Diego. When KWHY(NBC/Telemundo) decided to drop their San Diego affiliate, I’m almost certain that the station became a TuSuperestacion affiliate.

  2. I wonder if Meltzer read my rant here a few weeks ago about WWE taking over Mexico and establishing Palacio as their new “#1” building? He has something similar in this weeks WON. Maybe we just think alike.

Well, at least AAA already has a built-in excuse if they don’t sell out the Palacio. “WWE was just in town and they charged high ticket prices in the same venue and the market needs time to recover”.

Also, when AAA runs Palacio, will they professionally rig the lighting from the ceiling, or use the genie poles to save on costs, while obstructing people’s view?

  3. Dunno about that Chikara thing, I thought guys in the States would know, during the IWRG show I heard something about Chikara and Quackenbush, my uneducated guess is that Quackenbush is negotiating NWA titles (so where does this leave Demon Jr?) or something. Maybe Budokan has become associated with them?

  4. It’s Oriental’s usual fake title which is an ex-IWRG belt. He might be campaigning for a Chikara return, heh.

  5. yeah, CHIKARA only has the 2 titles and Oriental doesnt hold the lone singles title. maybe Quackenbush bought the title from him recently and is letting him defend it, as to get CHIKARA’s name out to more people.

  6. I think the CHIKARA deal is probably just some sort of confusion or prank somewhere along the way – it doesn’t make sense for Chikara to deal with AAA when they’re with Pantera, and Pantera’s their guy now and forever. (though Apaches + CHIKARA = $$$$$)

This is probably just Oriental trying needing a token belt to replace the Mixed Tag one. If I may a totally unfair judgment on a person I’ve never met, Oriental’s a guy who is much happier wearing a title to the ring, even if it’s completely meaningless one.

I forget Oriental worked in Chikara and I guess that’s as good a reason as any why he would use that name – he gets to pretend to be all international to the people who don’t read SuperLuchas. (Assuming he IS using that name.) It still strikes me as a weird way to go – it’s not like the name is big enough in Mexico right now to mean much as a name and you’re sorta burning a bridge or at least lightly toasting it if CHIKARA didn’t give permission.

At least Quack and company know the Morenos are big fans of the Podcast-A-Go-Go (where hopefully someone makes a joke about this.)

  7. “I hope they don’t let him rush back to the ring.”

The perfect cover!!! You can’t wish injury on a wrestler you dislike b/c that’d be in poor taste. Instead you insinuate that due to his unfortunate injury he should be kept out a while to recover. 3 or 4 years, I assume? Genius, cubs! GENIUS!

Feel better. I was sick early last week with either a bladder infection or nasty stomach virus or a mix of both. We’ll never know for sure now b/c I feel a bit better and don’t do doctors.:D

  8. In an unrelated note, Telmex and MVS(52MX) are supposed to be starting their own satellite service in Mexico soon. Excelsior reported this. I expect Televisa to remove 52 from all of their cable affiliates if this happens. This would mean no one is watching GDR in Mexico. Cadena Tres will pick up the slack though.

  9. The real thing Televisa and Azteca are concerned about is Telmex providing TV content through the phone lines (broadband)

  10. With Telmex having near monopoly, they’re in almost every home in Mexico that has a phone. Once the old phone lines are replaced with broadband cables, Telmex will be able to do something. MVS and Dish having been talking for some time about Dish Mexico, but they’re now trying to get Slim behind them too, b/c of the money he has. But this could only fragment the cable market, which is not good for Lucha.

  11. Cubs, from this Sox fan, you are still one of the coolest. Get well soon.

Whats up with Chessman facing off against Cibernetico, Mesias and fake Abismo?

“5) Golden Boy, Super Nico, Ultramán Jr. vs Ejecutor, Jaque Mate, Simbolo”

I hope Golden Boy is not based off of the Japanese anime. Study, Study, Study, Study!!!! LOL!

Fire + Long Skirts on women wrestling=Very Bad Idea. Thank God Konnana didn’t think of it first.

  12. I can’t say how fabulous it would be if the Apaches appeared on at least one CHIKARA show.

byi, Oriental wrestled twice in CHIKARA back in 2004 – once against Quack and once against Skayde.

  13. “””
Whats up with Chessman facing off against Cibernetico, Mesias and fake Abismo?
    “””

It’s a cage match, although they ran prommos hinting a possible Chessy turn during last Sunday’s show.

  14. Chessman turning would be fantastic and finally he’d be back where he belongs catching all the shitty tecnicos and carrying them to the best matches they’ve had in years. This would be another sure sign of a Konnan turn coming up since Chessman is the type of guy Konnan needs to face so he can appear to still be a healthy human being in the ring.

  15. So the Hell Brothers would be reduced to two with Ciber and Charly or is Charly thinking of going rudo again?
