03/16 AAA TV Lineup (Monterrey, Rey de Reyes)

This is not a complete lineup. Obviously there are tons of question marks to fill in, but maybe there’s another match. That may be tough with half the regular roster in one match.

(edit: lineup updated 03/10; based on lineup on company website)

Projected Air Date (#829, #830)
Mexico: 03/16, 03/23
US: 04/19, 04/26

03/10 edit

That’s the complete lineup. There’s no mention of money being on the line in the ladder match, but something out to be. The atomicos is billed as Mexico vs the US. Did Electro and Kenzo get citizenship? (Not that quick!)

02/18 edit

As mentioned previously, Decnnis and Scorpio are locked in the tournament, and I think the other names are based on the poster, but they surely could change between now and then. The ladder match lineup is more definite.

Teddy Hart and Scott Steiner are back, because the promotion liked how each guy did last time. This should be Killings farewell. They’re probably still negotiating with ex-WWE people for those spots (on both sides.)

Unless there’s a surprise on the 03/09 taping, it doesn’t seem like Mesias is going to be on TV at all before this title match. Odd build.

Announced Future Tapings
– none, but I’m sure some will get announced by time we get here.

  1. OBVIOUSLY.

Because when I think of guys I want to see Laredo Kid and Octagon work against, the only name behind Kamala is Kevin Nash.

  2. Booker T said on his site that he’s working a date for AAA in the future as a favor to Konnan, but he didnt state when it would be. i doubt Nash will come down as he demands way too much money and wont show if he’s booked to lose. Rhino is a good possibility if he’s not in the Rey de Reyes match. Konnan himself may be in the match too.

  3. The leading candidates are Booker,RVD,Rhino and Rikishi.

There really nobody else.Waltman and Hall is to busy in rehab.

  4. Konnan hates Nash? I don’t follow the U.S. scene any more but aren’t they best buds from their WCW days?

Besides, Nash was a SUPERSTAR in 1996 which is the year Konnan is stuck in.

  5. By then, Clowns should be going for their 100th victory, so it’ll be interesting to see who the fight for that historic bout.

Crazy as it sounds, I don’t know if Mesias vs. Ciber means as much anymore. That feud is over to me.

I’m still guessing TV will be the day after RdR in Nuevo Laredo.

I still think Konnan might try to get Hogan. Hogan can take credit for the sellout when trying to sell international tours, if he’s really trying to do that.

  6. Octagon vs Hulk Hogan. You made my day, Keith!

I still wonder if this clowns thing is just building to them 1 win away from getting the record only for 911 to come out and choke slam them both.

  7. Has Hogan ever worked Monterrey? That would be something. Actually, Bischoff and Konnan hate each other, so that would stop Hogan from working there.

I’ll guess AAA does not know how they’ll handle the Clowns 100th victory match, or who their opponents will be.

  8. So Rob have you started writing Chessman’s Obituary yet? Because at this rate, it’s only a matter of time before he doesn’t make it back up with Konnan’s booking.

  9. It writes itself!

He was a man. More than that, he was a Chess Man.

Chessman is survived by his good friends Cibernetico and Charly Manson, and his closest companion, really dumb decisions.

  10. AAA announced ticket prices for RdR. $60, $50, $40, $30, $20, and $15. That’s the scale for most WWE house shows, minus the $15 category.

They’re also leaving Coliseo MTY again. But it’s not clear if they are really leaving the venue for good, or just not running it until after RdR to starve the market before RdR.

  11. Sadly, Konnan is not that high on Chessman as others. I expect Chessman to stay in the same position forever. I don’t see him moving down the card either.

  12. If true, it’s a shame that Konnan is not high on Chessman. I was hoping Ciber would stay out longer so AAA could use the chance to elevate others. I think Abismo vs. Niebla and Chessman vs. Halloween could headline most tapings and house shows and do well for the time being.

I’m not high on Ciber vs. Mesias anymore. It’s like the Snuka/Muraco feud. It just meant nothing after a few months, and both guys moved on.

  13. AAA MTY promoter just raised the ticket prices on Lomejor message board. Now $70 or $700 pesos is the top price. So it’s total US ticket pricing for the show. When I go to Smackdown tapings, it’s about the same ticekt scale.

  14. The first info about the tickets said 1000 for the first couple of rows, so they either lowered them (after not delievering any stip match?) or sold out them already and are selling the other rows as “First and second” with the real ones being VIP or Premium or something.

  15. Here Lies Chessman;

He fell on or through more tables, ladders and chairs than any other wrestler not named Sabu or Hardy.

He will be survived by Chessman, Charly Manson, and the many Tables, Ladders and Chairs that have broken his fall and broken hin through out the years.

Burial will be under a pile of Tables.

  16. AAA website + ByL have different bracketing. Pretty much just switch Psicosis and Billy Boy around from your bracketing.

    My predictions…

    1) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown vs Cuervo, Ozz, Scoria

    – Naturally the clowns will go over. Perhaps via a low blow or some cheap win which would be the first time they’ve had to resort to something like that. Where do we go from here though?

    2) Chessman vs Teddy Hart, Halloween, Extreme Tiger, Juventud Guerrera, Joe Lider [ladder]

    – Juventud will probably win this to make up for him jobbing to the clowns the other night. Chessman/Halloween will take each other out, same for Lider/Tiger and Juventud will be left to work with Teddy at the end.

    3) El Elegido vs Mr. Niebla, Mascara Divina, Zumbido [Rey de Reyes, sf]

    – Niebla and Elegido are the only two options here. I’ll go with Niebla.

    4) Alan Stone vs Decnnis, Head Hunter I, Pirata Morgan [Rey de Reyes, sf]

    – Alan seems like a logical pick here. Can’t see any of the other three advancing even via fluke.

    5) Abismo Negro vs Super Porky, Psicosis II, Aerostar [Rey de Reyes, sf]

    – Aero Star will go nuts with his dives on Abismo and Psicosis but he’ll be out first. Abismo will move on by pinning Psicosis.

    6) Zorro vs Scorpio Jr., Billy Boy, Super Fly [Rey de Reyes, sf]

    – I dunno… if I’m booking I find a way to eliminate Zorro either via surprise Billy Boy roll-up or interference of some kind. I like Billy Boy and can see him as a main eventer. More likely the Fabi storyline will happen here and Billy will be first out leaving Zorro a clear path to win.

    7) ?, Alebrije, Charly Manson, Laredo Kid vs Electroshock, Kenzo Suzuki, Ron Killings, Scott Steiner

    – Toss-up. If they get a U.S. guy as the ?, tecnicos win. If it falls through and Gronda II gets the slot as usual, rudos win.

    8) Group A winner vs Group B winner, Group C winner, Group D winner [Rey de Reyes, final]

    – Abismo vs Zorro vs Alan Stone vs Niebla. Could be a good match if they let them work and save the angles for late in the match. Abismo seems destined to win but Zorro has been getting the big push. You could give Alan Stone a huge upset win or elevate Niebla more with a victory. Nice parity. I’ll go with the streak and take Zorro since he’s probably next in line for a World Title shot.

    9) Cibernetico vs Mesias [AAA HEAVY]

    – Surely Ciber has to win here finally. There’s only so many times you can tease him winning and getting screwed and they’ve already doubled that. Mesias should turn tecnico here but who knows.

  17. 1) Probably a no contest? They would still be unbeated…

    2) I agree with Juvy picking up the 25,000 dollars…

    3) I say Zumbidosky… hehehe… Abismo interferes to have Niebla beated.

    4) Alan beats Morgan to advance.

    5) Niebla returns the favor but Abismo wins anyways since no one seems to stand a chance against Abismo, so I say no returning of favor… for now..

    6) Mesias/Secta run in makes Zorro lose so Scorpio Jr picks this up.

    7) No Octagon? We all win!! Morishima should be the surprise guy but I guess the iwc should know if he’s comming by now… maybe La Parka will be there after all just like Cena showed up with no one thinking he was back.

8)Zumbido vs Scorpio Jr vs Abismo Negro vs Alan Stone – I know I’m wrong but I say Scorpio takes this with Zumbido’s help and Mr Niebla running in to cost abismo the match. Shocker has been whinning about AAA stealing the Guapos U, so I guess maybe he wants Scoprio to be back, so maybe giving Scorpy the win here will keep him around.

9)Since I’m in the mood of making impossible predictions, Zorro runs in and attacks Mesias so he keeps the belt by DQ. AAAMania will have:

    Konnan vs Ciber.
    Zorro vs Mesias championship bout.
Halloween losing his hair to Chessman.

plus the usual undercard, heck, maybe even Abismo vs Niebla. I guess the Peña Memorial might be the event with the Ciber vs Mesias hair match, so they’ll keep the belt away from Cibernetico a bit longer.

  18. I bet the mystery wrestler will be Latin Lover. He hasnt’ been around in a long time and the event is in his hometown.

  19. RE: I’m guessing the event is sold out anyways because it’s a big event. I think that because Latin Lover has been away for so long they’ll surprise the Monterrey crowd with a hometown hero and get a huge pop.

Back in 2006 at Verano de Escandalo Latin Lover was supposed to be the mystery guy until negotiations broke down between him and AAA (according to Meltzer). So they put Gronda in his place.

  20. One of the Superluchas blog guys gives his odds:

Escorpio Jr: 6 (out of 10)

    Decnis: 7

    Pirata Morgan: 2

    Mr. Niebla: 8

    Aeroestar: 6

    Máscara Divina: 3

    Head Hunter: 1

    El Zorro: 9

    El Elegido: 5

    Super Porky: 2

    Alan Stone: 7

    Zumbido: 6

    Abismo Negro: 8

    Psicosis: 7

    Super Fly: 7

    Billy Boy: 8

I doubt he(they) have any insider info, but it strikes me as odd that they portrait the veterans as “no way in hell” and give the upcoming stars good possibilities, even Decnis over his team partners…
