No details. I’m listing a substitution Melzter mentioned, but wasn’t mentioned in the results. The results were of the briefest kind, so I can’t rule them out.

If/when more turns up, I’ll bump this.

Edit #2 (Thursday)

Some more notes from the AAA recap of the event:

After the main event, Zorro confronted Cibernetico, but it was Konnan in disguise. Another Zorro attacked Cibernetico, and this was actually Zorro. Zorro’s turn was set up by Chessman beating him in the tournament, and Chessman accidentally hitting him on another taping. There may be more that I’m missing – I hope so, at least.

The official finish to the title match was Mesias pretending Chessman did something illegal, drawing the DQ. I want to see how this look on TV.

Laredo Kid beat Sean Waltman as the finish in their match. That sounds interesting.

Edit (mid day Monday)

More recaps
ChessMan75 @ Satanico’s Mansion
SuperLucha’s note on Halloween’s jump.

It sounds like Chessman wasn’t supposed to be involved in the cage match because he was in the title match, but got involved anyway after Charly Manson got hurt. Zorro turned somewhere in this match, or the 09/09 taping – it’s total confusion on that at this point. I’m thinking Chessman really did win the UWA belt from it (so Mesias has all the belts now) and so Zorro turned.

Waltman did replace Sabu. Konnan made an appearance, and this is sooner than anyone expected to see him. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a big show thing, and he’ll be off for a few more TVs.

The title match was a DQ win for Mesias, who was stretched out after a ladder bump. (Judging from the pictures, Chessman caught him short of the table, because how else do they both end up underneath it?) Not sure, but I could imagine them making up the DQ spot to cover for a blown finish.

Halloween debuted as a member of the Legion (or maybe he’ll be a Viper?) – I think the actual idea was to set up a hardcore feud with Crazy Boy and Joe Lider. There’s been no indication that Damian is jumping, but those two have been so joined at the hip, I’m sure people are thinking about it. Maybe they’ll bring Nicho or Rey Misterio Sr. as Halloween’s partner instead. Halloween wore a Perros del Mal shirt to the ring, but ripped it off to make a point (about how he was kicked out of the group weeks ago) and cut an anti-Perros promo.

Alfa won Fabi Apache over, and revealed himself to be Billy Boy. They appear to be back together. No idea why Gran Apache wasn’t here, since he would seem to have something to say about that.

Upcoming Taping
09/30: Villahermosa, Tabasco
10/07: El Toreo (Pena Memorial)
10/18: Aguascalientes
10/20: Orizaba

40 thoughts to “09/16 AAA TV Results (Guadalajara – Verano de Escandalo)”

  1. Yeah, Sabu wasn’t there according to a post on ByL. Halloween was although I’m not sure if he meant during the show or just in the crowd or who knows.

  2. Guy said that Halloween had Perros’ outfits (if that means something), and he ripped it off, so I assume he’s part of AAA or Legion or something. We’ll have to wait for when it airs on TV… or Kaled puts the pics up.

  3. More details flying in…

    – Zorro turned on the HB.

    – Halloween joined the Foreign Army by attacking the Mexican Powers.

    – Konnan reappeared in the main event.

  4. By my count it’s now Ciber, Chessman, Manson, Parka and Latin Lover against Mesias, Konnan, Cuervo, Ozz, Escoria, Epsiritu, Kenzo, Head Hunter, X-Pac, Killings, Abismo, Histeria, Niebla, Psicosis and Halloween.

    Seems fair.

  5. Chessman hit a plancha from the top of the cage on Zorro during Chihuahua’s main event… so maybe he turned from the start (in Dolores?).

I assume Halloween replaced Sabu and Waltman Killings, although I guess XPac might be going to WWE with all the suspended guys…

  6. Mesias landed a dive a wrong way and was taken out, not know if he won the title or was ruled a no contest.

  7. Looks like Mesias tried to jump off a huge ladder onto Chessman who was on the floor on a table but he came up short and Chessman had to get off the table to save Mesias’ life. Or as Meltzer will write in the Observer next week…

“Mesias tried a dive off a ladder but someone saved his life when he came up short.”

  8. From that pics, it would appear that the top deck was empty, still, should be close to 18,000, which is not bad considering Espiritu was loosing (or Ozz, Scoria or Cuervo, no really big names).

  9. Looks like a strong show, maybe what AAAMania should’ve been in terms of twists and storyline advances, Keith had predicted Zorro joining Legion for AAAMania, didn’t happen then, but maybe now it’s in the works.

I hope that the Billy/Alfa deal was done with Apache not looking, and was just something to give the fans for a while so they start building Billy towards at loooong last achieving his goals… Halloween showed up, not really a huge deal, but after El Animal debacle…

  10. I hadn’t even noticed Apache missing… well, I’m a big Pirata Morgan fan, but I don’t like that at all… hope Gran Apache is not injured.

  11. Wow the Viper’s entrance masks rule.

So is Zorro a member of the Legion now? Why would they turn him?

  12. Pirata Morgan catching for Aero Star and Rey Cometa sounds like a brilliant idea. Yep.

That is the sweetest picture ever. But it’s time for a haircut Billy.

  13. I hate the Zorro turn it just makes no sense to me. The guy is beloved by the fans and is a great tecnico plus this stacks the deck even more for the rudos.

  14. We’ll have to see if he turned and joined Legion, or it was just a breakup and HB will be feuding tecnicos as well (it will happen eventually)

AAA needs to space their tapings and keep a week behind… most people didn’t see Chihuhuas show, which had the start of Zorro turning… and maybe it was continued in Hidalgo, so for the live crowd, the turn came from nowhere (but it was actually built)

  15. Doesn’t Super Luchas have a photo of Zorro posing with the Legion? Clean shaved too! That really sucks. Scruffy Zorro was my hero.

Now we have a Legion ‘A’ team, ‘B’ team and ‘C’ team. Still working on that tecnico ‘A’ team though…

Why do I get the feeling this is all being done in the hopes of Konnan making a miraculous comeback and being able to wrestle at the end of the year so he can turn tecnico and save AAA from the Legion he created proving only Konnan can save AAA…

  16. Konnan should think things better, stay in the backstage, or join the SUN’s stadistics…

Acording to one poster, it seems Zorro turned after the match had ended, which makes less sense at all, since it would have been the perfect opportunity to be 5 on 2…

I’m looking forward to this show, and not really caring for now for the anniversary show. Maybe if they try something in the undercard, it could change, bur for now, I think whatever they air instead might be as good as the anniversary.

  17. “””””
Why do I get the feeling this is all being done in the hopes of Konnan making a miraculous comeback and being able to wrestle at the end of the year so he can turn tecnico and save AAA from the Legion he created proving only Konnan can save AAA…
    “””””

I got scared with that thought… then I remembered the 1-6 track record…

  18. If the plan was for Zorro to turn then he should’ve done it when he took off the mask that would’ve made perfect sense as far as the storyline goes.

Regarding Konnan, when he comes back as tecnico he will align with Latin & Parka Jr. then squash everyone in sight.

  19. I told everyone back in July that Zorro would be turning. It was obvious that he was going to turn. Kris is right, Zorro should’ve turned as soon as he took that mask off.

  20. “Alfa was revealed to be… Billy Boy”

And who called it Chui? *does the RVD point*

    Zorro turned? What the hell?

  21. How was it obvious he was going to turn? The guy is over like a mofo and AAA is lacking main event Techincos now that Octagon seems to have fallen off the wagon and Parka is injury prone. I still think this is all a plan and Ciber is trying to get info on the Legion with Zorro’s help.

  22. I would not say Zorro is over like a mofo. I thought it was pretty clear he would turn, and maybe cane Cibernetico. I figured it(the turn) would’ve happened back at Mania, but I was off by about two months.

Zorro is an aging pretty boy. He needed to do something. Hair match with Ciber will be big.

Parka injury prone? How many injuries-on-duty has the guy had since 1997? He had been on television almost every week for as long as I can remember.

  23. Parka barely misses a show (mainly because Peña wasn’t interested on workrate and taking risk, he just wanted guys to show up) at all, his injury comes from that car accident from a while, and he’s not given enought time to heal.

Ciber also almost never misses a show, he got suspended from that Kawaghi thing and they saw the opportunity to have his knee fixed, but I guess he would have gone on if they had needed to.

It has been hinted around that Konnan is interested in signing Zorro (altough the LLL deal seems to be dead) and they worked a bit towards giving Zorro a reason to turn, not much, but considering that Ultimo and Wagner became sworn arch-enemies by simply a misplaced kick, ditto Perrillo/Liz for a shove, Wagner/Mistico because… well, because Mistico got jelous Wagner was cheered the most, Zorro turn seems to be built for ages.

I think he should have turn when the mask was put on him since he was “evil” at that time, but nothing happened with Ciber being suspended and Peña passing away.

  24. And it just gets better, I just read the what it seems like bi-monthly rumors that Electroshock is coming back to AAA. This time with him coming back as a member of the HB’s to avenge the Zorro turn and restarting that angle.

  25. I wonder if cubs will begin an new daily “AAA page is still down” comment.:)

    Watch out cmll.com, you’re next!

  26. Kaled is a new father, and it seems that that responsability has taken away from his blogs, he said that he didn’t made the trip to Japan because being with his wife… and the updates have nearle halted since then (which is not really that much, we are talking about 2 weeks).

They ought to buy a domain name for those blogs… hope they don’t go for AAABlog or cubs will have an excuse to drop the AAA coverage *_*

  27. Cubs will never drop AAA coverage. He lives for their tournaments! What else will he have to do during baseball off-season but follow the new 36 1/2 person tournament for the AAA Trios Titles. Round robin style!

  28. I had read about the Fake Zorro thing but had no idea what they were talking about, we’ll have to wait and see it on TV, that is, if they show it, since they never show Jordy Stone joining Guapos at AAAMania… hope this doesn’t end as that.

  29. The last show AAA ran before the Verano de Escandalo show had a tag match of Chessman & Zorro taking on two members of Secta de Mesias

Chessman & Zorro repeatedly misfired, especially at the end of the match-Every time they got some offense going on one member of Secta, they’d end up nailing each other, and they had problems after the match as well, so yes, Z’s turn is definitely not a spur of the moment bit

I wouldn’t have turned Zorro, I’d have turned Latin Lover-he could make most hated Rudo literally overnight with the right kind of Rudo turn

I only recently started both AAA & CMLL again after not watching for a few years, so I’m wondering what angle led to Black Warrior losing his mask?

And what’s up with one of the absolute greatest personalities ever, Pierroth Jr?

In AAA, the Apache family, Fabi & her dad completely rule, Gran Apache is an absolute blast and great all around performer

One other thing-Kudos to both AAA and CMLL for listing the music they use with the credits that run at the end of the show

    Cool blog

  30. Mistico/Warrior were feuding with Averno/Mephisto in early 2006. Their first challenge for the tag belts ended when Warrior got DQ’ed for entering the match after being eliminated. In the rematch Mistico messed up a dive and landed on Black Warrior who snapped and beat up Mistico which led to his rudo turn. He ended up beating Mistico for the NWA Middleweight Title but lost his mask a few months later.

Pierroth seems to have lost his power in CMLL. His style doesn’t fit into the current product at all as injuries have taken a toll on him. He’s still a good guy to have around for live shows since his best attributes are mic work and interaction with the crowd. But for a TV product he’s really useless.
