(see the previous post for Mistico’s injury)
El Sol de San Luis Potosi has news on the Auditorio Miguel Barragan show on Wednesday. Everything was going fine till the semimain ended. There was a 15 unexplained minute break, and I guess the wrestlers tried to go out there without Mistico. (Koslov took his place) The fans were ticked, and nothing the tecnicos could do would settle them down. The fans started throwing things at the ring, and the wrestlers abadoned the match and headed to the back. The fans went more crazy – “suddenly, they began to burn Mistico masks”, chairs were thrown and security was totally overwhelmed. People ran to get out of the building and save themselves.
At 12:30 am, Mistico finally arrived at the arena. Not sure how late that would put him. He talked with the press, explaining his delay (plane flight?) and his shoulder injury (listed here as right.) 700 fans were still left in the arena, so Mistico head to the ring, where the fans chanted “FRAUD” at him. (Why did they stay, then?) Mistico explained himself, and ended up doing some spots with Mr. Aguila and Damian, maybe just to get the people home.
The recap mentions Hijo de Pierroth was the promoter here. Probably not going to work out on him doing another show.
KrisZ says AAA (via Konnan) are talking to Hulk Hogan and Paul Wight (Big Show/the Giant.) Can AAA pay what Hogan wants? I dunno.
CMLL (SUN) 04/29 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Fraile de la Muerte b Estrella de Jalisco
2) Metal Blanco, Metalik, Metatron b Depredador, Guero Loco, Infierno
3) Carlo Roggi b Valentin Mayo [hair]
4) La Mascara & Stuka Jr. b Efesto & Goto
5) Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Volador Jr. b Eclipse, Tarzan Boy, Terrible
Eclipse was busted open outside, and ended up down in a “pool of his own blood”. That doesn’t sound good.
CMLL (TUE) 05/01 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Flama b Thunder Boy
2) Rey Trueno b Casanova
3) Mr. Trueno CO Idolo
4) Evola b Danger (Guadalajara)
5) Leon Blanco b Egipcio
6) Malefico, Mascara Magica, Toxico b Gallo, Magnum, Stuka Jr.
7) Rayman & Vampiro CO Black Warrior & Eclipse
Eclipse was back here, so it couldn’t have been so bad, I’d hope. Ending was a bit weird. Rayman and Eclipse were inside, Warrior dived out on top of them, and Vamp…just hung out in the ring for the twenty count. A win is a win. Magica fouled Stuka, so that feud is still going. Something went wrong in the Mr. Trueno/Idolo match, and Idolo ended up getting carried out.
ESTO has a story on the lucha libre convention, as does Radio Formula.
The updated lineup for Arena Mexico.
CMLL (FRI) 05/04 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Stuka Jr. vs Artillero & Super Comando
2) Euforia, Nosferatu, Satanico vs La Mascara, Mictlan, Virus
3) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto vs Heavy Metal, Sagrado, Ultimo Dragon
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero vs Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero
5) Marcela vs Princesa Sujei [MEX WOMEN]
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Negro Casas, Volador Jr. vs Hector Garza, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Aguila
Just that one change, since Volador wasn’t working the show. Dunno where this leaves the Tijuana show, as well as the five hundred other places Mistico’s scheduled to work in the next few weeks. Besides the previous linked previews, La Presna and NOTIMEX also have them, but they’re before Mistico’s substitution.
I’m thinking Marcela wins the title.
(ESMAS) CMLL wrestlers are campaigning for Perro Aguayo Jr., so he doesn’t get voted off his reality show. They figure he’s representing all of lucha. Conspicously, they only quote rudos in the article.
IWRG (THU) 04/26 Arena Nauacalpan [Héctor Albores @ the gladiatores]

5) Alex Koslov, Mascara Sagrada, Suicida b Hijo de Cien Caras, Pierroth, Terrible
Hijo de Cien Caras was blinded in the main event, and accidentally fouled his own partner Terrible. Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. took off his mask and flung it to Anibal, and the ref caught Anibal with it.
IWRG’s site is still down.

I agree with cubs: “Can AAA pay what Hogan wants”? But they can guarantee something no one else in the world can-Crowds of 10,000-15,000+ for Hogan to take credit for, and provide hot crowds for whatever Vh1 footage Hogan may need.
One of the 500 places happens to be Torreon, which heads to be a disaster with Hijo del Solitario and Electro in the main event… hope the announce Mistico’s absence so that we don’t have another riot. (Although I remember a near riot a couple of years back even if all the main eventers there, good thing that the place was only at 40% capacity.)
About Hogan, AAA can pay him, Rey de Reyes had nearly 20000 guys and the cheapest tickets were at 10 dollar… but why would they pay him if the places are packed without expending whatever amount of money he and Paul might want?
Adding Hogan to run shows in AAA shows in Mexico may not have a big enough effect to make it worth everyone’s while (though I think he’d be a huge novelty draw the first time).
OTOH, if AAA was serious about running shows in the US, this may have a chance of working.
If CMLL is really planning on running the Gran Prix next week and the Gran Alternativa at some point this month, the injury at least came at a time when they can afford to have Mistico out for a bit. Imagine something like this happening in September…
So whose side would Hogan and Paul “Don’t Call me the Big show” Wight be on? La Legion?
Probably Show would be rudo, Hogan would be tecnico, but this isn’t close enough to know at this point.
