Mephisto beat Mistico in seconds in the first, but tecnicos came back to win 2 and 3, including Misticio pinning Mephisto with a shooting star press.

  1. Perhaps a multi man cage match for the name like with Los Infernales, history does repeat itself at times, especially in wrestling.

Considering that angle gave us Averno and Mephisto I hope this angle is at least 50% as successful (so in other words, create the next Averno)

  2. I’m with Martin, a cage match for the name where the last person out loses it for their team and their mask/hair makes the most sense.

  3. The only monkeywrench in the “Guerreros” cage match is that this seemingly random Sombra/Volador feud needs to be going somewhere too, along with Volador/Azul… It makes me think we are going to end up with more than a trios cage match.

Who would be the third partner w/ Escorpion & Rojo, anyway? I’d love to see Volador as the long-term fit…

  4. @Nikita: My hunch is Sombra/Volador isn’t going anywhere particular, that there is/was no long term plan behind it, and they just ‘needed a match’ after Estrellita cut her hand and the Princesa Blanca title match was put off.

Actually, THAT match – Blanca vs Estrellita, for the title now, for the hair later – should be the other December match. If they’re going to have this show on A&E with plot lines, they really ought to be drawing them into the their actual promotion at some point, and since it looks like Estrellita/Blanca will be an issue on the show (as well as Felino wanting Blanca to retire to have kids, and definitely not wager her hair in some risky match), the timing fits well for something at the end of the year.

  5. Rey Escorpion & Dragon Rojo’s partner should be someone who can be kicked out of the group after he loses his hair in December and replaced by someone more important, like Mascara Magica back in the day. Vangelis seems about right, but then he’d have to go tecnico after and I’m not sure that’s a good idea for him.

  6. @Cubs – I assumed the guy losing his hair would be Escorpion, and that the “third guy” in the group would be a vet that would kinda neutralize UG.

If Rojo & Escorpion were going face, Atlantis would make sense in this role, but they aren’t – and Atlantis has Maya & Delta.

Rey Buccanero makes a ton of sense, but he has TRT, and I just don’t see them ditching that.

Volador is established and would kinda make sense in that role, and they aren’t really doing anything with him except booking him on top.

  7. Vangelis is right for everything. Remember originally it wasn’t TRT, it was TVT when they were feuding with Naito/Yujiro/Okumura. Vangelis kindly stepped aside to allow Texano/Terrible a shot at the main event.

I kinda hope the TRT dies off and Bucanero joins this Guerreros feud. The TRT just haven’t really meshed since Texano left. I think Tiger is completely miscast in the group and he really doesn’t fit in matches with guys like Rush, Porky, Diamante Azul, Hijo Del Fantasma, etc. I also like Terrible more as a loner.

I know it would never happen but a re-gimmicked Bronco as the 3rd member for Escorpion/Rojo would work for me. Thinking more logically someone like Misterioso would fit.

  8. I dunno… if this is really going to be a full-blown feud over the Guerreros gimmick, then the idea is that Niebla/Euforia get the rub from teaming with UG, and that Rojo/Escorpion get the rub from opposing the established main event guy, right? Everyone in the angle is someone that CMLL is obviously building as a top guy for the future, and guys like Vangelis, Misterioso, or even a Sangre Azteca do not seem to be of that mold.

Buccanero makes sense, because it is UG’s former partner teaming with the guys that UG ditched him for.

Volador fits the mold of a top level Rudo that would actually benefit from having a stable and a long term rivalry with UG, but CMLL seems to view him as a highly talented pain in their ass.

  9. A regimmicked Bronco in the vein of Averno and Mephisto getting new gimmicks for the original Infernales angle appeals to my inner mark
