taped 2012-06-24 @ Arena Coliseo
Blue Panther, Sagrado, Super Porky vs Averno, Pólvora, Vangelis: Usual fun Averno/Blue Panther trios. A strong key was limiting Super Porky as much as possible; they used him for the right parts, and kept him from doing the same match he does every time. Really, though there was plenty of Sagrado (good and bad) and the other rudos, this was strongly an Averno & Panther show and they’re really good at putting together an exciting match. (Though Blue Panther seems to be forgetting spots at least once a match, or just doing some weird stuff.)
It’s a little odd to go for a full length super near fall match when there’s a title match, another trios match to set up a title match, and fairly solid end time.
Terrible vs Yujiro for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship: Really fun. Much more of a standard form CMLL title match than the Rush/Yujiro battle, but exceptional for Terrible playing against type and doing all the CMLL técnico spots well. It was still enough of Yujiro and Terrible’s personalities leading up to it that it felt like them and not just any two people plugged into the spot. I think we lucked out by this match ending up in Arena Coliseo, as the crowd reactivated really well (even for them), taking the match up a level and there’s no telling with the Arena Mexico crowd.
Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Kráneo, Olímpico, Psicosis: a crowd friendly match. It does not seem like a big match with these two teams, but it still was a very entertaining one – like something that should be the main event of a kid’s day show. They were very into showing the crowd reacting to the show all hour long, but it kind of hit annoying overdrive by the end of this match. Kraneo vs Marco Corleone is a match up I never knew I wanted to see until it happened, so I guess it’s a good thing we’re getting a bit of it next week.
