Lucha Times has been updated. I wish I couldn’t believe they clipped Tiger/Bucanero/Guerrero vs Perro Jr./Negro Casas/Vampiro to allow Bestia/Emilio/Pierroth vs MascaraY2K/Universo2K/Violencia to be shown in full, but that’s thing one should expect at this point.
Meaningful results from Arena Mexico
– As you’d think, being his day and all, Atlantis did retain Michinoku Pro’s LH Title over Perro Jr. The twist was that it took four falls to do it. Fall three went to a DCO, and rather than have an inclusive result, a fourth fall was ordered. I guess the wackyness was to protect Aguayo Jr.?
– Rocky Romero’s SuperLH title reign lasted until he had to actually defend the thing; Virus is your new champion.
In non-TV results, Emilio Charles did retain his Middleweight Title over Sagrado, to the surprise and interest of five. (Maybe I underestimate.)
Over the next three weeks, CMLL will be doing a 8 team tournament to decide the new Mexican National Trios Titles. Last time we saw them, Familia de Tijuana were feuding with Infernales, but Nicho no-showed a defense and Infernales refused to take without winning them in a match, so they were left vacant.
They’re going to do four team mini-tournaments on the next two Arena Mexico shows, and the winners meet for the title on the 12/5 show. You can see brackets (though the first round matchups probably aren’t set.) Mostly lesser names, as it is the lesser trios titles. FdT are not involved. My bet is Negro/Felino/Volador Jr. (biggest names) vs the Infernales, with us going through all of this so the Infernales can just win the belts anyway.
The semi-intersting thing is that Alliance is now Holligan/Ramstein/Azteca – didn’t Super Comando have Azteca’s spot? Did they actually team in anything anyway? Maybe it’s an expanding group of opening card rudos. I guess Havana Brothers aren’t in either week, because they’re not doing their match against Volador/Ricky/Virus again. Violencia and Nitro are teaming, which means Nitro’s out of the Boricuas too or someone’s doing messed up booking. Either way are equally likely.
12/05 is going to be their big year end Arena Mexico show. Main event is already announced, and was called here awhile back: Universo 2000 vs Pierroth, mask/hair. Normally, I’d assume Universo ain’t dropping his mask, but when you consider it’s Pierroth (Markus’ hair, Apolo’s hair, Mascara’s hair, Cien’s hair, Violencia’s mask, Veneno’s career – well, almost) it’s not easy assumption. Who knows where Silva figures in this.
Again, I’d also pencil in a Angel Azteca/Arkangel match for that show. They play into that with this week’s Arena Mexico lineup:
– Revenge Match: Silva/Pierroth vs Dantes/Universo/Mascara2K
– Revenge Match: Lizmark/Niebla/Angel Azteca vs Ultimo/Rey/Arkangel
– Block A of the Mexican National Trios Title Tournament
– Texano/Ultimo Vampiro vs Loco Max/Nitro
– Astro Boy/Sombre De Plata vs Super Comando/Koreano
I’m the only who finds it intresting that Ark is teaming up with the sworn enemy of the guys he usually teams with.
