Felino/Negro vs Shocker/Panther?, UG/Lyger

CMLL (FRI) 12/02/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, La Catedral]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II b Hombre Bala & Super Halcon Jr.
Rudos took 2/3. Rayos pulled a switch, with the previously eliminated Rayo coming back in to beat the tecnicos.
2) Pegasso b Loco Max [lightning]
Pegasso won in top rope splash in 6:00.
3) Diamante, Fuego, Stuka Jr. b Cancerbero, Raziel, Tiger
Rey Bucanero introduced Tiger as the newest TRT member. Tenicos took 2/3. In the third, Diamante took out Tiger with a dive, and the tag champs defeated the Cancerberos.
4) Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr. b Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr.
Rudos took 2/3. Atlantis had the pin on Volador, but Tirantes decided he was a rudo this week and refused to count. Volador yanked Atlantis’ mask and got the pin. Tecnicos were angry, but also attacked by the Invasors after the match. Maya was strechered out.
5) Jushin Lyger, Máscara Dorada, Rush DQ Averno, Ephesto, Último Guerrero
Straight falls for the tecnicos. UG fouled Lyger in the second when he really didn’t need to. Lyger challenged UG to a singles match. UG said he’ll win for Mexico.
6) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b Blue Panther, La Sombra, Shocker
Peste Negra rushed the tecnicos and hit them with their usual assortment of weapons (trash can lid, toilet seat), which got them DQed this time. Rudos won fall 2 quick. Casas brothers submitted Panther with another double armbar. Shocker demanded the Felino vs Blue Panther hair match become a tag match with himself and Negro Casas, but Negro Casas said no.

Referees now appear to have two ads on them. They’ll have to go back to two referees per match soon to fit all the ads.

Other News

Hermano Muerte I Jr. passed away Thursday, due to a sudden stroke. He was His son is part of the Juniors promotion, scheduled to be part of their big ruleta de la muerte mask match at Arena Lopez Mateos tomorrow.

Not a lot of news from Ras de Lona, just the interviews to continue the current feuds. This week, someone was in love with turning off all the lights and shining a spotlight on whoever was talking. Tiger turning his back on his family and joining Rey Bucanero is the saddest thing that’s ever happened to Felino. The new TRT introduction was good. They had Lyger do an interview asking for a mask vs mask match with Ultimo Guerrero.

The Quien Para Por La Corona finals are going on right now, and will wrap up sometime this afternoon. Maybe we’ll know how the finals are supposed to work when they’re over?

La Catedral starts it’s look back at the best of 2011 with the Best Foreigner.

Rob has highlights of 03/19/04 CMLL, 03/26/04 CMLL, 04/09/04 CMLL, and 04/30/04 CMLL.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 12/09/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Leono & Sensei vs Bobby Zavala & Bronco
2) Dragon Lee, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Cancerbero, Hijo del Signo, Raziel
3) Stuka Jr. vs Pólvora [lightning]
4) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr.
5) Blue Panther & Shocker vs Felino & Negro Casas
6) Jushin Lyger vs Último Guerrero

A lot of matches that look really good. Match 2 in particular has usually been fun. I hope it sneaks on TV somewhere.

Atlantis’ crew vs the Invasors for the Mexican trios titles is a good bet for the semimain on 12/16. I thought they had announced Lyger/UG for that last night, but I was mistaken.

It seems way late to be changing the hair match to a tag team one, but you can’t quite rule it out with CMLL today. Ras de Lona had that tag match as a trios with Maximo & Niebla, and the main event as Lyger, Mascara, Rush vs Ultimo Guerrero, Dragon Rojo, Volador. That doesn’t make any sense, because Atlantis was talking about challenging for the national trios titles earlier in the show, so they had to know Voaldor wouldn’t be available for the main event.

  1. Handing out “best of 2011” awards for Llaves y Candados seems like quite the oxymoron.

Man if most CMLL cards made as much as sense as that show next week we’d have less bad things to say about the promotion. 3 matches that make sense and could be good along with 3 perfectly fine undercard matches. I’m glad they decided to let The Hat have a vacation this week.

  2. 52MX has the top 2.

Fox Sports had 2/4/6 from last Friday, which means 3/5. In human language:

    CMLL on Televisa: 2011-12-03
    taped 2011-11-25 @ Arena Mexico
    1) Dragon Lee, Fuego, Metro vs Euforia, Pólvora, Virus
    2) Atlantis, Delta, Jushin Lyger vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpion, Último Guerrero

CMLL on Fox Sports (Mexico): 2011-12-03
    taped 2011-11-25 @ Arena Mexico
    1) Estrellita vs Tiffany in a lightning match
    2) Ángel de Oro, Máscara Dorada, Valiente vs Mr. Águila, Olímpico, Psicosis
    3) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Shocker vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas <- I can NOT BELIEVE this is airing on the show less people are watching. The only thing I can figure is perhaps it's not.

That means the UG/Lyger feud is headed for Galavision, and a lot of editing. May not be the worst thing.

LATV appears to be a repeat – they're two weeks behind now, somehow, when they were previously one.

AAA aired the same taping, though maybe switched up some of the matches on different shows? I think they were expecting to be pre-empted this week (which, to be fair, is also maybe how the Fox got the more important CMLL matches too.) The new best estimate:

    11/27 Pachuca airs 12/10
    12/01 Toluca airs 12/17
    12/16 Puebla (GdT) airs 12/24 & 12/31

That last seems especially iffy, since Christmas eve traditionally seems as big or bigger day of pre-emptions and people having better things to do; CMLL never runs Christmas Eve (or New Years Eve.) They'd be better off airing a recap that week.

  3. Silueta replaced Dark Angel in the GDL opener.

Looks like Galavision has Futbol on in CMLL’s place.

  4. @Tim: Galavision actually had this listed on their website! But they’re never right. Gives me a good chance to see if I can capture the GDL show…

  5. Canal 44 doesn’t seem to have the c3 show on tonight.

I wonder if tonight was Estrellita’s last CMLL show? Well it probably will be if she shows up at ACM tomorrow.

  6. while I’m spamming my own comments, QPPC had a Jack Evans/Daga/Samurai del Sol vs Gran Apache/two other people match today. That sounded fun.

Looks like BT Jr. was there. No signs of photos of that match, so maybe he was video taping it.

  7. I feel bad for Bam Bam. At this rate, he’ll never beat Pierrothcito.

So is Shocker only a rudo when he’s facing Atlantis and crew? Good to see him show up in GDL. I thought he would no show?

  8. @Tim: Shocker is a tecnico in the Panther/Peste Negra show. They perhaps possibly have not figured this out!

ACM is a repeat of 11/15/2011 3) Pancho Tequila & Toro Blanco b Rosa Salvaje & Sexy Maciel

  9. AAA Is Not Airing On the Juarez affiliate Due to the Telethon. Did the CMLL main show end up airing in Mexico today?

  10. @Albert: Yes. It was the 3ra and semi-main from 11/25. My buddy is still waiting for it on U.S. Galavision so I guess it hasn’t aired yet… if it will at all.

  11. So Univision decided to put Teleton on Telefutura which forced Galavision to air soccer. But why not preempt the Santo movie for CMLL? Shame that broadcasters are so hostile.

  12. CMLL went off air 8 minutes early on the 3 am airing. I think the commercials combined went longer than that semi main.

I bet Rob liked the Dragon lee match. He’s growing on me.

  13. @Tim: Not at all. He didn’t do much anyhow.

Dragon Lee will be fine in a year or two, he’s still a teenager finishing high school. Perfectly fine for his level right now. I just worry CMLL will have him main eventing in 2012 and he’s clearly not ready.

CMLL’s TV show on Televisa is a waste. You could accomplish what that show accomplishes in a 5 minute segment on Ras De Lona.
