CMLL (FRI) 11/18 Arena Mexico [CMLL, La Catedral]
1) Astral & Eléctrico b Pequeño Nitro & Pierrothito
Tecncios win a slight upset.
2) Tiger b Pegasso [lightning]
Rey Bucanero was in Tiger’s corner for this match. Tiger won in 6:32 via pin with his feet on the ropes.
3) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Metro b Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi
Tecnicos took 2/3. Metro celebrated apart from his new rivals.
4) Blue Panther, Shocker, Valiente DCOR Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Escorpion
RadioCMLL.com clips make this look like a lot of Panther/Shocker vs Felino/Negro. Those four ended up fighting outside the ring for the countout
5) Dragón Rojo Jr. b Jushin Lyger [CMLL MIDDLE]
Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero were the seconds. Dragon won with the cavernaria in the first, Lyger took the second. Usual long third fall. UG snuck in a low blow on Lyger, and Dragon Rojo took advantage for the win. Dragon Rojo is the 17th champion. This is his first singles title win, after 6 previous losses.
6) Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. b Atlantis, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada
UG snuck out the back of the Atlantida to cradle Atlantis for the win.
Kcidis celebrates the new champ, though not as much how he did it.
Other news
Ras de Lona has footage of the press conference. Just to clear this up:
purple/gold/green mask = Titan = Palacio Negro?
white/blue/green = Triton = Metal Blanco? – he also did a Metal Blanco-ese pose.
Looking back, neither guy has been in Mexico City for most of the month, standard bit for a gimmick change. (May be the same reason Puma & Tiger aren’t around much; they’re waiting for that angle to take place on El Luchador before really getting into to it.) That also means CMLL probably had the new names/faction idea in mind since late October.
Ras de Lona also had Averno wearing sunglasses and a backwards titled baseball cap. He ALMOST pulled it off. Hype for Sunday’s Cibernetico and the bodybuilding contest. They showed Nosferatu’s injury, and it was the clumsiest thing you’ve ever seen – he was simply standing on the top rope and slipped off. You may see this on the website. Zayco’s injury was a lot less comedic – he got spiked right on his head taking the ‘rana and was completely out. Very scary looking, good to hear he got out of the hospital. Angel de Plata also appeared, and he should be back soon.
Hector Garza was mentioned, but only in passing about those who went to the Tokyo Dome for CMLL last year. If you only follow lucha libre from TV, you have no idea anything is up.
If I’m reading this right, Sahori is skipping CMLL and headed to REINA for three months. (Ras de Lona says the same.) It’s just mentioned in passing. REINA is quickly catching up to IWL as the most peculiar promotion. Also, Valiente is going to make sure he has two sets of gear packed separate, just in case his luggage gets lost again.
El Santo & Demon’s show in El Paso did not draw especially well. El Cobarde tried to announce his retirement after the semimain, but may do one more tag match with Cobarde Jr.

Lineups
CMLL (FRI) 11/25/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Shockercito & Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Warrior
2) Estrellita vs Tiffany [lightning]
3) Dragon Lee, Fuego, Metro vs Euforia, Pólvora, Virus
4) Ángel de Oro, Máscara Dorada, Valiente vs Mr. Águila, Olímpico, Psicosis

6) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Shocker vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
Hmmm, Shocker/Panther vs Felino/Negro again.
Mascara Dorada in the fourth match is a bit low, but I think someone went mad scientist and wanted to see tricks that trio of flying tecnicos could pull off together.

Cesar’s recap also notes Felino came out after the lightning match to congratulate his son but Tiger walked away with Rey Bucanero instead.
Cesar also has a photo of the attendance which looks much better than previous weeks. Just by guesstimation I’d say around 5,000.
CMLL clearly seems to be isolating Dragon Lee with Virus ala Mascara Dorada in early 2009. When Virus isn’t around you can’t find a Dragon Lee match that doesn’t include either Euforia or Raziel much like when Virus was absent early-2009 Dorada rarely had a match without Felino present.
Seems pretty clear the December match is not going to end up as Panther vs Felino. Curious to see if they turn it into a tag or a 4 way like at H2L 2010.
Next week’s show looks fine. I’m all for mixing and matching to produce fresher cards so the fourth match looks fun.
@Rob: Yea, I saw those same pictures last night and thought 6,000. You may have a better guess. It’s definitely much better than previous weeks, though not quite where they want it. I wonder why the big increase.
Should’ve had Cesar’s recap in the post. Somehow it slipped out of my article list this morning. Happened with Eric’s LATV recap earlier this week, I must be doing something wrong.
CMLL TV starts with something Tim will enjoy -> Estrellita in caution tape.
Main event too. Looks like Fuego/Euforia lost in the abyss not that the match had any importance.
The 11/25 CMLL lineup is really nice looking just really well balanced and a good mix.
AAA TV national is top two from Ecatepec.
They announced a taping on December 20th in Chilpancingo as well so I don’t think that Campeche taping ever existed.
52MX has the expected matches.
Plans change but this is what I was told
Valiente was in the GDL main event, not Toscano.
Gallo, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro vs Misterioso Jr., Puma King, Tiger was a pretty fun match. Mini Gallo just got destroyed in the second but came back in the 3rd. Bam Bam vs Violencia was very disappointing.
@KrisZ: No I know, I’m not blaming you. I’ve seen many posters where it says “grabado para television” as a way to get more fans to come out thinking they’ll get a big show. I think that’s the case here b/c the taping was never mentioned on AAA TV or the website (as far as I saw).
@Rob: I wonder if AAA is thinking about taping separately for Regionals and Galavsion? You’re right about the posters, but I’m sure it will be considered.
@LLL: What’s your opinion on AAA’s current TV format airing shows on two stations? I personally think, it’s an improvement considering how horribly Televisa has treated AAA’s TV product this year.
@LLL: @Calabcd44: AAA is clearly planning to still have regional TV as their taping in 6 days has 7 matches so clearly they are gonna do a 4/3 split or even 5/2 on regional/national TV. It’s a great bonus to have b/c not only does it let us see a full card but now you can get more guys booked on television so perhaps house shows can start drawing more. Today conjuarez said regional TV was only 3 matches with lots of filler so someone in AAA definitely realized they need to start filling that time with matches. Next week should be a 4/2 split based on the Irapuato taping.
Us on the internet can see a full card, yet, but it’s still not working until the regional show and the main show are on at different times.
I have CMLL as 33 minutes long this week. It actually started about 10 minutes past the hour and still finished on time. Televisa is not too helpful.
@thecubsfan: I was surprised Dr. Lucha didn’t mention AAA going up against themselves on TV to Bryan. I think he woulda gotten a kick out of that.
ACM has 5) Genocida, Máscara Púrpura, Rico Rodriguez vs Big Neurosis, Golden Boy, Simbolo from last Sunday
Did they explain why Furor changed his name to that?
I wonder how Pirata Morgan feels about being referred to as an “Ex-Luchador” on el Luchador.
CMLL Galavision USA. Blocks were:
Block 1 “Introduction” 1:17
Block 2 “Fall 1 Women’s match” 4:56
Block 3 “11/20 Promo” 00:33
Block 4 “Fall 2 Women’s match” 4:54
Block 5 “11/22 Promo Fall 3 Women’s match” 6:48
Block 6 “Nueva Figura and Main event plus 11/25 Promo” 15:40
This brings CMLL to 34:08. Figuring I’m off by a few seconds, the official duration was probably counted at 34 minutes which is a fucking disgrace. CMLL and Televisa are like a couple in a bad relationship that is afraid to break up out of fear. They continue to stay together even thought they know it’s over.
Blocks on Galavision Mexico:
Block 1 “Intro and Fall 1 Womens”
Block 2 “11/20 Promo Fall 2 Women”
Block 3 “11/22 Promo Fall 3 Women”
Block 4 “Nueva Figura, Main Event, 11/25 Promo”
Galavision USA formats six blocks. They cut things up because they want 5 commercial breaks within the program.
@Calabcd44: Well, I’m worried about AAA now having to create three hours of original programming for two separate programs. That’s not who AAA is. I have always been of the opinion that Televisa should have a 3 hour block featuring 90 mins CMLL and 90 mins AAA and that’s it.
I also think that Televisa 5 might have been considered before “Regionals” but WWE would block Televisa from airing “other wrestling” on their network.
I also believe that editing is the main issue that blocks both AAA and CMLL from airing in the US on Galavision. It’s one or the other but we’ll never see both again. Notice that CMLL is four blocks/segments in Mexico but six in the US. It means that someone has to sit down and figure out the running time, the individual “segments”(Intro, arena promos, fall 1, fall 2, new figure, etc…..) and basically reformat the show. That’s too much work for a product as lowly as Lucha Libre so only one show airs. Maybe this will change if someone with a lot of power puts up a fight for both shows, but realistically………….I see AAA somehow getting back on.
@Rob: I am sorry if with my tweets I made it confusing… AAA aired in regionals four matches in the following order:
1. Intro/ Primera
2. Promo
3. Segunda
4. Semi
5. Tercera
Semi aired about the same time in local tv (I saw it in Guadalajara’s channel) and Galavision.
CMLL TF is back to GDL
10/14
4) Diamante, Guerrero Maya Jr., Sagrado vs Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, Toscano vs Mr. Águila, Terrible, Texano
That’s the most recent Garza match in GDL, so sadly we won’t get him showing up on CMLL TV in 2012. At least not on this show.
Am I the only one who is annoyed with Titan Tron names in CMLL? What next Triple Ñ or Mac & Mahon as the new great tag team.
ACM is on an hour late, and I can’t find either of the matches so far in the db.
3) Rosa Salvaje & Sexy Maciel b Toro Blanco & Pancho Tequila
(may be 11/01 match with Lobo Rojo listed in Pancho Tequila’s spot)
???) Simbolo vs Rene Guajarado III
Both are from Last Tuesday I believe.
