Bestia beat Hijo de Pirata for the deciding pinfall. Perros should be getting a tag title shot next week.
CMLL (TUE) 07/19/2011 Arena Queretaro [Ciudad y Poder]
3) Dragon de Oriente I & Dragon de Oriente II DQ Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II [Queretaro TAG]
Dragon I was hit by a Rayo dive. The local rudo’s head hit a seat and split open, bleeding badly before being stretchered out. There’s no update about his condition, just a mention it was a serious wound. His partner (brother?) won when the Rayos were caught pulling a switch after one had been eliminated.
4) Metal Blanco & Palacio Negro b Dragón Rojo Jr. & Nitro
Nitro replaced Escorpion.
5) Último Guerrero & Volador Jr. DQ Mr. Niebla & Negro Casas
Ultimo Guerrero got caught fouling Niebla.
The link has a picture of the gruesome injury.
Sin Cara
SuperLuchas explains they haven’t mentioned the Record interview with Sin Cara because the conversation was not meant to be on the record (ha) and they are trying to make sure their friend doesn’t get in more trouble. Huh. At least they’re honest about it. I assume they are friends with the AAA Cruiserweight Title so they’re not talking about it’s current troubles. Get well soon!
By the way, everyone who is saying Record article got pulled is wrong. It’s not on the front page, because it’s a few days old, but they’ve got articles about past drug policy violations which includes Sin Cara, and a cartoon poking fun at the recent drug violations in Mexico on the front page now.
Sin Cara was out of taking out of the opening video for Superstars. Uh oh.
Lucha Libre Expo
It starts tomorrow! Hope everyone going has a fun time.
Volador Jr. hypes it up for ESPN Deportes. He says he’ll have a lightning match with Hector Garza. When?
Arturo Gaona Jr., Babe Torres and Andy Barrow talk about their triangle hair match.
Shiima Xion talks about his DTU match at the show.
Lucha Libre in Japan
07/22 NOAH
5) Aerostar [O] & Jack Evans b Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Osamu Namiguchi
Team AAA is 1-1.
Veneno is back in SMASH on 08/11, taking on Hajime Ohara in the second round of their tournament. Don’t like Veneno’s odds; Ohara has to stay alive long enough to lose to Ultimo Dragon.
Other News
This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter includes a long bit about TNA wrestlers unhappiness about the conditions in AAA. They like performing in bigger, more excited crowds, but the conditions at the arena are much worse. Outside of TripleMania, security to keep the fans from grabbing them or throwing things at them has been non-existent, and the locker rooms are very primitive (often, no running water.) Velvet Sky and Angelina Love are mentioned as upset about how hard Mari Apache hit them in their match; I think the consensus of those watching the show was surprise about unusually lightly Mari treated them. It appears Mr. Anderson wanted more money to deal with the conditions, and so he was replaced by Scott Steiner.
Not much of story points on today’s Arena Mexico show. Estrellita continues to feud with Amapola, and we’re waiting to see if it’ll be a title or hair match with them. La Mascara and Averno are locked together. Main event is an odd rudo/rudo match, except it’s also Ultimo Guerrero & Atlantis teaming up on a big stage after Atlantis’ recent stint on the tecnico side.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Re: TNA – What a bunch of primadonna pussies. Who do Sky & Love really think they are to complain about getting stiffed? This wasn’t a random indy booking against some greenhorn – it was by someone that knows what they are doing in their home promotion! How about stiffing them back?!?!?!
As far as lack of showers… 90% of indy shows do not have showers, and many don’t have bathrooms. I know some of the small venues that TNA runs (like the Nashville Fairgrounds) don’t have showers…. Great examples of why people look down on Americans.
Sorry for the rant.
Agree. I want to be meaner and make a joke about whores not needing showers but I’ll pass for now.
The sad part is Dorian has such a hard-on for these chicks who smile at him that he’ll probably give them high class treatment next time they come in while his hard working roster gets the shaft once again. I’m surprised more indy chicks with no talent aren’t calling up AAA for bookings since Dorian will hire anyone with BOOBS who will msg him on twitter.
Only Velvet Sky and Mickie James had never worked for AAA before. The others had better experiences in previous outings? If not, why agree to come back? I guess they are spoiled with their soundstage studio.
I agree with both of you Nikita and Rob.
If this was Japan, Love and Sky would still complain about how stiff the japanese women wrestle. How they didn’t protect them and what not. As Afa of the Wild Samoans once said “if you can’t take a stiff, you shouldn’t be wrestling”.
Why don’t Angie and Velvet join the WWE, but of course we all know what happens when a Diva acts like a “diva” (ask Melina).
Queretaro. Reminds me that AAA didn’t run Queretaro this July for television. July or early August tv was a tradition and a sellout.
I am not sure how I can take it. I know that not all indy facilities are the best BUT look at how AAA has their production standards. It’s a very different culture. Angelina did it years ago BEFORE she was a star in TNA. Working for a major promotion is different in America than it is in Mexico and I guess that Anderson, Love and Sky are victims to this. Ad for being stiffed, maybe Mari is, maybe Love and Sky are use to waifed punches and half slaps. We will never know the whole story. I do not think it is fair to crap on them due to their experiences or if they did or didn’t get stiffed when no one will know the full story.
And those bitches even dare to do promos of why wrestling matters.
@mkpunk – Here is the problem, which is hard to really dispute – the TNA talent is acting “big time”, when they aren’t. While TNA certainly has advantages over most indy promotions, at the end of the day AAA is a bigger promotion. TNA is more likely to fold, period. So maybe Mari or Fabi are not Playboy material… well, workrate wise Sky & Love aren’t AAA material.
As everyone will probably agree, the TNA talent probably isn’t drawing a significant number of fans for AAA – it is a political thing that is getting TNA exposure in Mexico. The gringos are getting a payday out of it, and working in front of crowds ten times the size of what they draw in their own country. When you have TNA women being forced to sell clothing and gear on eBay to pay the bills, maybe you shouldn’t badmouth someone handing you a payday.
I kind of see where the TNA talent is coming from. They’re Americans in a war torn nation dealing with violent fans who are throwing urine and bottles at them. Heels like heat, but no one wants to lose an eye or get doused with biological waste.
@KDB_31:
Angelina was already in WWE but they fired her and WWE doesn’t want Velvet.
And if Dorian will hire anyone with boobs, why won’t he sign Vudu or the Headhunters?
@Tim: They haven’t messaged him on twitter yet
On Smackdown tonight, they showed footage from last week of Sin Cara pinning Sheamus and said he was going to be out at least 4 weeks. I don’t know what to think. If he was really gone for sure, I would think they wouldn’t do this?
@Nikita: Very wise words. Couldn’t say it better myself.
They all in TNA love to mock and insult México, even in their own show, but they don’t like angry fans wanting some payback.
@Tim: Headhunters were in AAA some years ago.
I agree with most of what Rob, Nikita, & others are saying here, but this is my one beef. AAA likes to think that it is a “big time” promotion and an equal to the major promotions in the US and Japan. As such, I would argue that they need to provide a better work environment than this. The Mexican generally don’t have the ability to complain about this type of shit. While I agree that the TNA performers shouldn’t have it better than the AAA regulars, I would hope that maybe them making noise about this would improve things for everyone. The sad thing is that I’m certain it won’t.
@Nikita: Um yeah you CAN if they don’t give you proper respect. I am leaving the Mari Apache deal out. Love and Sky feel they did not get treated right and are complaining about it. They have their right to do that. Should they yes: if they never want to work there again unless things change or no: if they need the payday. Now selling their gear on eBay while yes it does look like they don’t get as much money for it. Sky has been at virtually all of the tapings TNA has had in the last few months and Love was up to Slammiversary. So it is not like say Roxxi who would not be on television for long stretches of time who needs all the money she would need to get from bookings or else wise. I agree TNA is nuts but I don’t think they get THAT much money from doing shows for AAA for it to be a big deal. The crowds are bigger, yes but I don’t think the paydays are.
@Alan: If they don’t believe they are a big time promotion, then no one will. How many big time promotions are there in the world besides WWE, New Japan, Noah and maybe TNA? I agree they need a better work environment.
Velvet Sky is a top Knockout in TNA and she makes $600 per appereance according to certain sites. I don’t think AAA pays very low, otherwise no damned foreigner would come.
There is no excuse for publically complaining about being stiffed in the ring. You toughen up, dish it back, or take it and continue on.
Would love to see these girls go to Japan and face!
I was going to say “and face Kana”, but then thought just in general. Didn’t delete all of that comment… awkward :/
I think some of you guys are somewhat basing your opinions on the assumption that all of the facilities used in the United States and Japan have bountiful lockerrooms and showering facilities – and they don’t!
I can’t speak to any certainties about the WWE, because they run mostly major arenas with sports teams as tenants, so these places generally have dressing rooms and lockerrooms, with showers, mirrors, etc.
But look at the places that ROH, TNA and others run. For years TNA ran television out of the Nashville Fairgrounds – which has one toilet and a sink in the lockerroom, which is probably only 15×20. ECW arena, at least up until recent renovations, had no AC, no showers, and poor heat. Does the Hammerstein Ballroom have showers?
Look at some of the places that the Japanese companies run, that are their “B” buildings and only hold about 1000 fans – do you think all of these places have showers?
So my point here is, these divas (no pun intended) go to a major promotion, and bitch about facilities, when many of the arenas the promotions they have/currently work for in the US or abroad have the same issues. I wouldn’t say it is racist, but it is at least jingoistic.
I have actually been thinking about this quite a bit, and maybe (maybe!) they have a gripe if the men/women have a communal lockerroom, and they do not have privacy to change. However, 90% of independent shows are like that, and if that is the custom in Mexico/AAA, they again do not have a real big complaint there – partake in the custom or don’t take the booking.
