I kinda had a plan to completely catch up this week, but it’s not quite going to happen;. I”m still 2.5 hours for closing the gap and I’ve done all I can do for one night. Maybe I’ll finish one more recap before things start airing tommorow, but finishing up will have to be a celebration for next week.
What I *have* done this week:
04/22 CMLL #219 (11/18/05): pretty pointless
* Princesa Sujei, La Nazi vs Diana, India Sioux: India is better Diana. (Shocking!) Sujei’s just an ordinary wrestler. She’s lack whatever flash I thought she had in AAA. I think. I dunno.
* Apolo Dantes, Sangre Azteca, Hombre Sin Nombre vs La Mascara, Satanico, Brazo de Plata: Rudos are better as a team and I’d expect, and Sangre/Mascara stuff is interesting, but not much here.
* Canek, Hijo del Perro Aguayo (c), Mephisto vs Ultimo Dragon, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas: Dragon showed some fire for once
* Halloween vs Universo 2000: nothing but setup
04/29 CMLL #221 (12/02/05): didn’t feel like a big show
* Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Olimpico vs Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Blue Panther: needed more time
* Perro Aguayo Jr., Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy vs Mistico, Dr. Wagner Jr., Dos Caras Jr.: all angle
* Halloween vs Universo 2000: met expectations. expectations weren’t high.
07/01 AAA (taped 02/06/06): This show matched all my expectations for AAA and then some.
* Espantapajaros vs Dizzy, Kumbia Kids: bad, bad green wrestling
* Dark Family vs Cats, Joe Silver, Super Calo: 17 matches for a pointless screw job finish! You can’t pin Super Calo clean?
* Psicosis II, Espiritu, Charly Manson vs Alliens, Abismo Negro, Pimpinela: They’re doing a Vipers reunion, if only they didn’t forget about it five minutes in. This is supposed to be Abismo’s big emotional hometown win, but it’s a match with Alliens, it doesn’t quite fit ‘big’.
* Alan Stone, Shocker, Zumbido vs Electroshock, Intocable, Zorro: we see 1:03 of this and plenty of pointless angle after
* Chessman & Cibernetico vs La Parka Jr. & Octagon: CMLL opening falls + AAA overbooking final fall. It’s nice that they do a clean finish the one time it doesn’t feel like it doens’t mean anything. I mean, even if you want to say “they were respecting the title”, then explain the run-ins?
I think not having the rest of the stable run in is better than having them run in, no DQ being called for no particular reason, and then they’re run off.
* Emilio Charles Jr., Misterioso II, Pierroth vs Blue Panther, Brazo de Oro, Satanico – standard forgettable Coliseo matches with good punches and Pierroth’s blond hair
* Atlantis, Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero vs Mistico, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero – crowd was more into this. I wasn’t really.

I was actually really disapointed by this episode as it was one of the most awful AAA shows of the year. It takes a lot for me(the #1 AAA fan) to say something like that.:( I expected you to be more harsh actually.
Some things:
1. Kumbias were asking fellow wrestlers to write-in b/c they are looking for a third member.
2. They weren’t introducing the new valets, they were announcing one of them lost her husband the previous week. Of course when they zoomed in on the girl she was laughing.:/
3. I’ve never seen a match that was really bad get trashed on TV by the announcers like that opener. They even did the skit afterwards saying Los Espantapajaros were going back to the gym!!!
4. Cats is someone we know. TO THE WIKI!
5. Why’d they cut away when Pimpi kissed Tirantes but showed it when he kissed Manson? Was Tirantes too into it?
6. Why is Galavision editing one match per week and why is it always the Zorro/Electro matches?
There was really nothing wrong with match #3 but aside from seeing ~LOS ESPANTAPAJAROS! – totally missable episode.
I kinda hope they skip the Rey De Reyes just do I can put VCD to use some more and save some cash.
