CMLL (MON) 04/04/2011 Arena Puebla [El Sol de Puebla, Fuego en el Ring, Cinco Radio]
1) Asturiano & Stigma b Akron & Sauron
Stigma & Asturiano had new matching gear.
2) Hooligan, Loco Max, Tigre Rojo b Ángel Azteca Jr., Black Tiger, Starman
Tiger Rojo beat Black Tiger again, this time using the ropes. Mask and title match challenges fired.
3) Blue Panther, Rush, Toscano b Felino, Negro Casas, Shigeo Okumura
4) La Máscara, Máximo, Strong Man b Héctor Garza, Hirooki Goto, Volador Jr.
5) Último Guerrero b Mr. Niebla [CMLL HEAVY]
Both the tecnico and rudo sections were rooting for Niebla. Niebla took the first fall, Ultimo the second when Niebla was distracted, and Ultimo the third with his feet on the ropes. Tirantes was referee, and may or may not have missed the cheating. Niebla wants a rematch.
Two more title matches today, with Pierrothito vs Astral for the Mexican Lightweight Championship, and Valiente vs Polvora for the Mexican Welterweight Championship. It’d be shocking if Pierrothito dropped quasi-minis championship to Astral, but it is an opportunity for the young tecnico to show what he can do in a singles match.
CMLL Gaceta seems to put Valiente as the favorite over Polvora, though I’m a bit worried about a title change there. (Also, we learn Polvora’s finish is “Polvora Explocion”.) Valiente tells Record that he’s was about 80% after Polvora’s devastating counter dropkick last week, but hopes to be 100% tomorrow. It seems like that dropkick has also shaken Valiente’s confidence, because he plans on using his holds and submissions rather than flying.
CMLL says Cholo will be out six months, after rupturing a tendon in his left knee last Friday. Also, Camorra is out for an undetermined time, having hurt his right leg in training at Arena Coliseo. Good thing the Rayos are now opening match rudos, those guys need reinforcements.
Tickets for TripleMania range from 1497MX to 183 ($126US to $15), including Ticketmaster charges.
X-Fly and Bestia 666 successfully defended their IWL Tag Team titles in Merida.
There’s a column on Record pushing the idea of AAA vs CMLL shows. This idea is not new, but that the column is by Leo Riano, one of CMLL’s announcers, makes it a bit interesting. He’s the first person associated with CMLL not to just shoot the idea down (though he’s technically a Televisa employee.) Like all the other columns, it’s full of wild ideas that would be Cool but also Highly Unlikely To Actually Work, Even In A Utopia. I also don’t think you need to sell the fans on this idea, like this column attempts, because they’re not the hold up to it happening. You need to see the bosses (or at least one boss in particular) on how this idea is so great that they can’t possible refuse to do it. Proposing to do every big match you can think for free is not an easy sell to a sane businessman.
Dr. Landru has video of Super Crazy vs BC Killer vs Supreme, and Trauma I & Solar vs Negro Navarro vs Trauma II.
Luchas 2000 #564 has a lot of stories, including El Hijo del Santo hosting a TV interview show. It also has the Gran Alternativa finalsts, as does Box Y Lucha 3020.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and 30 to 21 in the top 100 countdown.
Did we ever get a reason for Nosferatu’s disappearance? He’s MIA since 02/01.

What’s going on with the page?
You’ll have to be more specific.
@thecubsfan:
It’s not loading up correctly and the background is all dark so you can’t see the text.
@Tim: I don’t know why it was doing that, but there seems to be a widespread image problem. This look seems more readable for the time being.
It’s now more readable but still looks weird.
Looks normal now.
Since Inquisidor was Polvoras second instead of a Cancerbero: might it be that he is Polvoras brother Vaquero? Inquisidors first match at Arena Coliseo was on July 13 in 2008, and Vaqueros last match was on June 24 in 2008.
@Ringo: Never considered that before, but that seems possible. Did not actually see enough of Vaquero to be able to tell – Rob?
Unfortunately Rob seems to be not here these days. ;)
@Ringo: You rang?
It’s plausible but would be hard to confirm since both Vaquero and Inquisidor are two very boring wrestlers with no easily identifiable moves. Wouldn’t shock me though.
