There’s been no mention of pay per view outside of a single Dorian Roldan tweet (which I can’t find anymore – but that may be Twitter issues) and there was no noticable mention of PPV at today’s press conference for this show. My impression is there were plans for the show to air on PPV, but the announcement was made before the deal was done.
Dear AAA,
Have you changed Monster Clown’s name to “Monsther Clown”? You keep spelling it that way. I want make sure I get this right without upsetting you this time. If you could give me a sign, I’d appreciate it.
Kindly yours,
some goofball
In other news, this is a six match show. AAA’s major shows have been seven or eight match shows, and I suspect there will be another match added for the live crowd when this takes place. They’ve only aired six matches on TV, so it doesn’t really make any difference to all of us not in Aguascalientes.
They *could* squeeze this all in one show – they are taping just 3 days later, so they’ll have footage for the following week – but that’s not the way they’ve been going. I do wonder what that extra space is for; a remnant of the plan to air this on PPV, or a built in gap for something else?
Electroshock vs Heavy Metal is listed as a main event. I’d still be surprised if it was the main event. It sort of gives away what’s going to happen in their match on Sunday, but counting gave away the outcome of that match.
Carlito’s said he’s only in for the two shows, so he probably shouldn’t win Rey de Reyes. They’ve devoted a lot of time to reminding us that Park is going to get a title shot, or take out Konnan for not getting a title match, so he doesn’t quite figure to win this. Rey de Reyes is one of the few things Mesias has not won and he could get his pin back over Park. Extreme Tiger is also in this match! He has a chance if Park and Mesias take each other out to set up another match at TripleMania.
Wagner/Psycho Circus vs Perros will have already happened twice in a month by the time they get to this match, and they’ve not been holding back for the big show. And yet it’s listed ahead of the title match, which says something about that match. Zorro/Charly could still be a really good match.
The mystery Bizarro on this show is mostly likely the same mystery Bizarro as this Sunday.
Hijo de Tirantes is forced in the opener due to all his attacks on the Apaches (including Fabi; her not being here means they probably have some weird plans for Sunday’s match.) Slightly hoping it went the other way, and Apache became a referee so Pepe Casas wouldn’t have to painfully drop to the mat to count any more pinfalls. Hijo de Tirantes started out as a masked luchador, as did his father, and he’s done everything but officially be in a match the last few years. The match should be fine, but if Laredo Kid, Super Fly and Aerostar are so important to AAA, there should’ve been a way to keep that feud going. Unless they’re added to Sunday’s card, AAA booked a major injury angle with them, then took them all off TV for over a month.
