2011 AAA TV Chart

Lineup from here.

Five matches means Queretaro is probably a two taping show.

Amadeus in a main event!

The Rey de Reyes fourway looks like the most interesting match. Wagner and Park are unpredictable on their own, and Nicho and Halloween will go right with them.

The pairs match is “as ordered by Joaquin Roldan”, like Tiger/Jack vs Silver/UG this coming Saturday is ordered by Dorian. I have no idea what this is about, but I haven’t watched anything from Naucalpan yet. (Today! Maybe.)

Metal vs Electroshock is match 2. The most they can get to on TV by Rey de Reyes is 4. I have no problem with them doing one (or two or three) on a spot show and showing the clips on TV.

Minis match should be really good.

  1. Is it me, or has AAA be pretty decent this year? El Zorro is the Mega Campeon, Atomic Boy’s back, Sigi’s back, Faby’s still there, AAA is actually booking shows with better workers. I don’t know, maybe I’m just wierd?

  2. I guess this is my cue to jump in and bash the company?

But I can’t. Not this time.

AAA has been great so far. Every TV show has been fun and all the right guys are getting pushed/have their own storylines. I’m very happy with the direction and hope it stays this way.

CMLL isn’t doing themselves any favors as their 2011 has been absolutely atrocious with no signs of things getting better.

  3. If you live in the US and only watch on Galavision, like I usually do, I don’t know how anyone can say that AAA has been any better this year. Only two new episodes have aired.

The first episode contained a below average minis match with the same guys as usual. It wasn’t a good match, and I’m a big Mascarita Divina fan, so I’d rather the match hadn’t made television.

Faby and Sexy teaming with pre-ops? It’s ok. Faby losing because of Hijo de Tirantes has been ongoing and will continue until Triplemania. Perhaps that will change if Faby is legit hurt and can’t work(I read she was written out of storyline-I figured she was pregnant again). Tirantes is stale either way. It may get heat at the arena where you see live AAA one or two times a year, but to the television viewer, it’s just old.

The first Ecatepec had 48 minutes of advertising in two hours. Thankfully week two was just 90 minutes, cutting down on ads. The arena looks like shit and the cameramen are pathetic at best.

Then there’s the matches themselves. There are no rules. Everyone is in the ring at once, usually with heels attacking one tecnico while the other two are trying to make a comeback. If the tecnicos do win, you’re guaranteed to see them laid out by the losing rudo team so they can “get their heat back”.

The Psycho Circus vs. Perros del Mal feud is terrible. They do too much on television. What’s left to see on a big show between the two teams? Does the AAA core audience like the ECW Arena 1996 style? Only thing that they can do is have a hair vs. mask between the two teams as a final blow off but you know.

The shitty production and ugly arenas have to be hurting ratings. CMLL may be weak, but the production is great and the big arena look makes CMLL television look presentable to viewers at NATPE. AAA could never go to a television convention with their current product.

Months ago, I theorized that AAA got better ratings, in part, because they kept most matches to one or two blocks, like WWE. Perfect for the casual viewer. Main events usually two, sometimes three blocks. Now, I’ve noticed that many matches are stretched out over three blocks. I guess this is to get two weeks out of some tapings. A few pesos are saved, but a few viewers are lost in the process.

I hope Toluca and Naucalpan are better than the first set of tapings.

  4. Based on the promos aired on AAA yesterday 3/4 television is now “Puebla, Puebla”, 3/13 “Morelia, Mich”, then Rey de Reyes.
