PdM IWL (SAT) 02/05/2011 Centro de Convenciones Tlalnepantla [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), The Gladiatores, Estrella del Ring]
1) Tony Cirio & Tony Cirio Jr. b Payaso Fantastico I & Payaso Fantastico II
2) Lady Afrodita & Lolita b Chica Tormenta & Keira
3) Angel o Demonio, Leon Chino, Ovett CO Centinela, Low Rider, Último Vampiro
4) Fantasma de la Ópera, Pesadilla, Ragde b Fishman Jr., Turbo, Zumbido
5) Bestia 666 & X-Fly b Daga & Eterno [IWL TAG]
6) El Mesías, Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans DQ Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween
Perro fouled Mesias, got the three count, and then the ref overturned it to award the DQ.
Tough to get a sense of the size of the crowd thru the pictures (and the unfamiliar building.) Seemed to do OK.
CMLL (SUN) 02/06/2011 Arena Coliseo [Cesar]
1) Ramstein & Semental b Camaleón & Höruz
2) Goya Kong, Lluvia, Marcela b La Comandante, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
3) Pequeño Olímpico b Mascarita Dorada, Eléctrico, Pierrothito, Pequeño Violencia, Mercurio, Fantasy, Astral, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Maximo [cibernetico, #1 Contenders, CMLL]
#1 contenders stipulation had not been announcers prior to the show. Wrestlers listed in reverse order of elimination. Pierrothito and Electrico eliminated each other. Dorada was over confident and pinned. They keep teasing Dorada vs Bam Bam every time they team, and here again, but it’s probably many months away.
4) Ephesto, Felino, Rey Bucanero b Hijo del Fantasma, Rush, Valiente
Rush replaced Sagrado. Rudos took it with the three man Guerreros entanglement submission, usually only seen with Ultimo Guerrero.
5) Héctor Garza, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Toscano
Volador’s legend killer feud has hastily switched from Blue Panther to Brazo de Plata. Less interesting but probably an attempt for more of a reaction. Said to be a poor match. Garza distracted the ref for a Volador foul in the end. Porky challenged for a hair vs mask match, and it’s been a while since Brazo de Plata has lost his hair here.
Cesar condemns Volador for not making enough of this chance as a rudo, though I’d guess part of the reason he’s playing a coward is because that’s what CMLL probably wants him to do.
If the women’s cibernetico ended up being for a title shot, and this minis cibernetico ended up for a title shot, I wonder what title the midcarders challenging for on Tuesday? Valiente’s championship? (That’d mean Virus would be the strong favorite, with Stuka & Demus behind.)
Luchas 2000 #556 and Super Luchas #400 both have stories on Mistico. Cesar helpfully grabbed copies of each and wrote about them; not a lot of new info right now, more keeping the story warm for a week while we wait for this press conference. The one important bit is a comment in Luchas 2000, from CMLL’s Miguel Reducindo (pictured here), claiming Mistico will be at the press conference to explain what’s going on. CMLL has been less than totally honest throughout, so I don’t automatically believe this to be true. If it is, it could mean a new Mistico (the Mistico mask on Luchas 2000 is a slightly new design) or the old one saying goodbye (which would be nice and totally unexpected.)
It sounds like that press conference will be Thursday, as they usually are, and not Monday or Tuesday.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

- Cesar writes about good small arenas wrestlers not making good big arena wrestlers. I think this is about IWRG? IWRG is never said by those letters. I wish I had more time tonight to fully express my disagreement in Cesar’s belief that Sagrado connects with the crowd better than Valiente (or I totally misread something in my head.)
- Cesar also says Black Warrior and Latin Lover (for special shows) are on their way back. As he points out, Black Warrior could easily fit in with the Poder Mexica breakup.
- Lucha Libre AAA compares Sugi to Jushin Lyger (eh no) and looks back at a previous Charly Manson vs Zorro match
- Super Crazy is heading back to Chile.
- El Brazo will reached 30 years of being a professional luchador on the 27th.
- Porra Fresa previews Monday’s Arena Puebla show. Tirantes will referee Psicosis/Ultimo Guerrero. He also reposts a bio of Rayo de Jalisco.
- Mask Mania writes about autograph signing with CMLL luchadors. You know, the sadness of everything didn’t hit me until I read his notes on Averno vs Mistico match, with both of them talking about facing off again one day when they both knew that day may be a long way away.
Lineups
IWRG (THU) 02/10/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) Lucky Boy vs Imperial
2) Dinamic Black & Eterno vs Carta Brava Jr. & Imposible
3) Alan Extreme, Explosivo, Tony Rivera vs Black Sky, Comando Negro, Fresero Jr.
4) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Avisman, Destroyer, El Hijo del Diablo
5) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Bestia 666, Damián 666, X-Fly
Black Sky and Fresero Jr. both are making their debuts on non-trainee shows. Lucky Boy appears to be making his debut entirely. Trauma II hasn’t been here since June (and/or since they had plans for the Traumas as a pair.)
CMLL (SUN) 02/13/2011 Arena Mexico
***Fan Appreciation Show, February (SUN)***
1) Camaleón & Trueno vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Ángel Azteca, Fabián el Gitano, Metálico vs Hooligan, Nitro, Raziel
3) Bam Bam vs Pequeño Olímpico [CMLL MINI]
4) Rush, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Felino, Terrible, Texano Jr.
5) Blue Panther, Máximo, Toscano vs Ephesto, Héctor Garza, Volador Jr.
Lineup may be changed if they’ve indeed changed Volador’s feud. Bam Bam/Olimpico should be good, would air on Fox.
CMLL (SUN) 02/13/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Astro Boy & Robin vs Acertijo & Drago
2) Metal Blanco & Sensei vs Inquisidor & Semental
3) Diamante & Metro vs Euforia & Vangelis
4) Mr. Niebla & Negro Casas vs Atlantis & Último Guerrero
A couple returns here. Mr. Niebla will probably be brought at the press conference (and I hope he just runs in on it, just like last time.) Diamante’s return, if this turns out to be it, will have a little less fanfare. The belief is one-third of the national trios champions was suspended because – well, Mistico might have been one who signed with WWE, but he wasn’t the only one who tried out. (And there were more than two, for what it’s worth.)
IWRG (SUN) 02/13/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) El Pollo & Eragon vs Hammer & Magnifico
2) Alan Extreme, Dinamic Black, Goleador vs Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Eterno
3) el Ángel, Multifacético, Veneno vs Avisman, Destroyer, El Hijo del Diablo
4) Hijo de LA Park, Hijo del Pantera, Trauma I vs Bestia 666, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Hijo de Pirata Morgan
Main event seems to be set up by tonight’s Junior de Juniors tournament. Goleador hasn’t been around for about a year, and he’s opposite Comando Negro…
CMLL AULL (WED) 02/16/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Eros, Freelance, Rey Krystal vs Hombre sin Rostro, Kilvan, Ronny Ventura
2) Love Angel, Mike Segura, Zumbi vs Epitafio, Mega Destroyer, Rey Krimen
3) Iron Love, Sadico, Yakuza vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) La Máscara & Latin Lover vs Héctor Garza & Olímpico and Arkángel de la Muerte & Black Warrior and Máximo & Sagrado [UWE TAG, qf]
One of the non-Arena Mexico dates Cesar mentions in his post for both Latin Lover and Black Warrior. I’d be surprised if Latin won, because I can’t see him being brought back for the tournament final and he has no problem losing to Hector Garza. Warrior’s test is showing up at all.

I don’t know why it would be a surprise if Mistico says goodbye and the news conference. WWE usually lets guys fullfill scheduled appearances before they go to FCW. Alex Kozlov did it with AAA and Danielson with various indys.
@Tim: Both of those guys left on good terms, having informed the company they were working with that they were leaving. CMLL did not find out Mistico was leaving until he already had signed the contract to go somewhere else. They all might have patched up feelings sometime in the last two weeks, but they weren’t really happy with him then.
AWESOME TRAUMAS BACK IN IWRG!!
A poll on all the different possibilities for the CMLL press conference would’ve been fun. I’ll stick with “We still have a contract with him” being the theme. Be interesting to see if CMLL gets a slight ratings boost this and next week.
AAA on Galavision in the US had 24 minutes of commercials per hour. These long commercial breaks are hurting both AAA and CMLL. It’s one of the causes for the ratings being so shitty.
I would not be shocked if the reason for CMLL’s press conference was announcing Mistico’s “replacement” whether it’s someone new wrestling as Mistico, or an established tecnico taking Mistico’s spot as CMLL’s top tecnico. Infact I would be surprised if the press conference was not about their “new Mistico”.
Think back to how all well known ripoff gimmicks were created and introduced. Out of those – how many ripoffs who went out of their way to announce themselves as “new versions” actually worked out and helped their promotion out?
@Rob:
Parka Jr? Would Intocable count as a Hector Garza/Latin Lover rip off? What about Psicosis II?
@Tim: I’m talking not about ripoff gimmicks ala Intocable/Latin Lover but guys who just took over gimmicks directly ala Parka, Psicosis, Histeria, etc.
Parka Jr. debuted under that name so AAA never made any sort of announcement they were replacing the original or bringing in his son/younger brother/etc. They just started booking him and ignored any criticism. Fans came to see a Parka… they got one. Eventually the ‘Jr.’ was phased out and the original Parka complained but by then it was too late. It was seamless.
Same for Psicosis II. He showed up at Verano De Escandalo 1997 and the announcers were screaming “I thought he left! But he didnt’! He’s back!” and they ignored all the criticism in the magazines and such. Seamless.
For the record I don’t think CMLL is creating their own Mistico. In fact I’m pretty sure they’re not. But they’d have to be the dumbest folks in the world to call a press conference just to announce they are creating their own fake version. If you’re going to replace the guy under the hood, you just do it. You don’t call attention to the fact you are presenting a copied gimmick with a worse wrestler under the mask. That’s just ass-backwards and doomed to fail.
@Rob: That reminds me. I guess you’ll eventually see the segments with Psicosis II on LATV where he tells viewers that “Sergio Jimenez” invented the gimmick.
Over at Lo Mejor de la Lucha, RFC posted that Mistico was announced for a FULL show in Arena Coliseo MTY on 27th February.
@LLL: This one – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uulJ170u4CM – has been on 52MX for a while. AAA surprisingly has never reacted (but it’s on 52MX so no one would’ve seen it.)
Yes, that’s the one Cubs. Pretty funny.
