Mistico/FCW, Dos, Puebla

Mistico

CMLL had people claiming Mistico was staying, but he did sign the WWE contract last Tuesday. It is possible Mistico might be telling people what they need to hear to get them off his back, but it’s also possible people may just be making stuff up. CMLL is expected to hold a press conference next week.

On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said Mistico will start in FCW in February probably the middle of the month. Mistico has been told he’d be there just a couple months. Dos was told similar things. Mistico still needs to learn English. The podcast talking about this is free – it’s over here – but it’s only a short bit about 45 minutes in.

I had previously heard talk Mistico was in Florida this past week, figuring out living arrangements; I had expected this whole story to come out when someone in FCW accidentally leaked it.

Box Y Lucha #3011 asks if Mistico is going to WWE.

Cesar says CMLL’s direction of pushing young new stars in 2010 was the right move, giving them options without Mistico, and need to keep focusing on the young guys and not quick fix old men. Though, a reason Mistico left is because they were pushing new stars.

Dos Caras Jr.

Prometo wants to claim Dos Caras Jr. as an AAA original. You know, I’ve always thought of CM Punk as a creation of the Lunatic Wrestling Federation. More interesting: the indy/LLUSA Octagoncito has apparently been renting out his suit to many people.

Cesar is angry CMLL has been so busy telling non-truths about Mistico that they haven’t tried to take credit for Dos Caras winning the Royal Rumble. Does Guadalajara boast off of Chicharito’s success? I have no idea.

Psicosis fouled UG, pinned him, and Tirantes started to make the count before Maya stopped him and called for the DQ. Psicosis and Ultimo Guerrero talked about a singles match, with UG only agreeing if Maya was ref.

Cinco Radio‘s been covering these shows lately, and their recaps usually include a quote about the matches or other feuds. There’s an obvious topic to talk about today, but there’s no article this week (despite the finish of the  main event being listed in their news wire.)

AULL Tag Champs Chucho el Roto and Iron Love will defend their titles vs DTU’s Aeroboy & Violento Jack next Sunday in Arena Coliseo Tulancingo. Chucho & Love actually won a non-title match over the DTU team this weekend in the same arena. The two teams may also meet tomorrow in the UWE tag title tournament

  1. I believe nothing Prometeo Lucha Libre says. They clearly have a huge AAA-bias so why wouldn’t they want to ruin the rep of the original Octagoncito? Heck, in the article it says there was a Mini Histeria who wasn’t authorized to use the gimmick (except by Histeria II… the guy AAA originally gave the gimmick to). So what’s he supposed to do? Fly to Guadalajara and ask Histeria III for permission?

Most of the time that site is absolutely beyond ridiculous. I guess the point was to start an anti-Cesar blog but go look at Cesar’s blog right now. The last few articles have been honest and included anti-CMLL comments. Meanwhile Prometeo is busy trying to convince us Dos Caras Jr. is an AAA original and CMLL is disrespecting cartoons by having their wrestlers portray said gimmicks inside the ring. No mention of Cibernetico’s get-up at Triplemania though. Nope. Nothing at all.

Whoever runs that site (I could wager a guess…) is either being paid by AAA or is just an idiot.

  2. What exactly will they be telling at the press conference?: that they own the rights of the Místico character and he will always be with CMLL no matter what. Maybe they will hold a tournament to know the new Místico and the character will now be like Multifacético or Tiger Mask. What do you think?

  3. @Arakas: I certainly hope, and actually expect, that Cesar is right that there aren’t any plans to create a new Místico. In this day and age, and in such a high-profile situation, it wouldn’t be fair to anyone involved: not to the repackaged luchador, not to the other técnicos whom the CMLL has been pushing and needs to push, and certainly not to the fans (again, with the story having already spread like wildfire, it’s pretty much an affront to their intelligence). Recycling the Místico gimmick on someone else is almost guaranteed to backfire, badly.

[I do really like the look of Místico’s mask, and, ideally, I’d love to see it used unchanged in the WWE. However, I see that as a very low probability at this point, for both legal and creative reasons; I want to be proven wrong. Either way, that matter takes a big back seat to the questions of how well he’ll adjust to the WWE style and how well the WWE will use him.]

As for the press conference, the scary thought is that the CMLL apparently needs a full week to prepare for it.
