It doesn’t sound like this year’s Reyes del Aires tournament was something to be concerned with missing. It read much more like a normal midcard cibernetico than a spectacular air battle. Cesar counted six guys in the match who never did dives, including runner up Virus. Angel de Oro won, but if you’re an Angel de Oro fan, this has definitely not been your only chance to see him win a big match in the last year. After a whole press release to explain Guerrero Maya being replaced by Molotov, Pegasso was replaced by Sensei here and I’m not sure if it’s his injuries becoming problematic again or something else. Arkangel and Angel de Plata had the usual double elimination.

Mephisto got away with the mask rip on Fantasma this week. Practice makes perfect.

In his recap, Cesar says it was WWE who contacted Mistico and put on a deadline on him coming to WWE or not. WON had Mistico contacted WWE. A deadline implies he couldn’t just come in later, and I suspect WWE would still be happy to have him later. Tecnicos won the main event with clean pinfalls.

Black Terry Jr.

indy (SAT) 01/01 Arena Neza [Estrellas del RingThe Gladiatores]
1) Misterio Verde & Motocross b Rey Neza & Zetta
2) Coco Blanco, Cocolores, Turbo vs Black Thunder, Dralion, Hermano Muerte III
3) Mike Segura, Trauma I, Trauma II b Black Lancer, Carta Brava Jr., Dr. Cerebro
4) Solar I, Último Dragón, Ultraman b Black Terry, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Negro Navarro
5) Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo del Solitario DQ El Hijo Del Santo & Rayo de Jalisco Jr.

Strong turnout – if not a sell out, close to one. Better than last week’s cage match.

Main event was a mask ripping bloody match. Blue Demon faked a foul in the main event. Usual mask challenges after the match.

Solar challenged Negro Navarro to an America Light Heavyweight title match next week in this building after their match. Last time we checked, neither man actually had that belt. Oh well.

Black Terry Jr. has videos from the tercera (1, 2, maybe not in that order) and the semimain (1, 2). Dr. Landru is also putting up video of the semimain: part 1, part 2

AULL (SAT) 01/01 Arena Lopez Mateos [Mi Lucha LibreMi Lucha Libre (2)]
2) Cerebro Maligno, Hombre Sin Rostro, Super Panda b Juan el Ranchero, Rey Krystal, Tortuguillo Ninja
3) Chucho el Roto & Iron Love b Epitafio & Herejia [AULL TAG]
4) Rey Krimen & Sepulturero I b Robin Maravilla & Rocky Santana [AULL TAG, #1 Contenders]
5) Chucho el Roto & Iron Love b Rey Krimen & Sepulturero I [AULL TAG]
6) Cuervo, Espíritu, Ozz b Sadico, Último Gladiador, Yakuza
7) Murder Clown & Psycho Clown DQ Coco Azul & Coco Rojo

Not the most creative booking night. Both the main event and the second title match ended with both teams comitting fouls by only one getting away with it. The Payasos/Cocos match led to mask challenges; both Cocos lost their masks long ago.

Both the 6th match and and the 2nd match had people turn on their team to cause the loss. In the semimain, it was Yakuza, turning on Sadico to set up a title match. In the second, it was Rey Kystal.

Gladiador doesn’t wear his mask in AULL. I dunno.

AAA announced their first taping of the year will be 01/15 in Ecatepec. That’s a Saturday, so it probably won’t air until 01/23. AAA will have aired four straight weeks of 2010 recap before it. Usually it’s 3 or even 2, but there was no Chilpancingo taping from last year.
