4) Euforia, Hechicero, Mephisto b Atlantis Jr., Gran Guerrero, Misterioso Jr.
seemed to set up a Euforia/Gran Guerrero title match
5) Último Guerrero b El Mesías Facebook video (posted by )

Mesias went for the top rope huracanrana. It did not work out for him. Or make any sense.

CMLL (TUE) 11/29/2022 Arena México [CMLL, Kaiser SportsThe Gladiatores (videos)]
1) Micro Gemelo Diablo I & Micro Gemelo Diablo II b Átomo & Periquito Sacaryas 20221129cmll_match1Micro Gemelo Diablo I & Micro Gemelo Diablo II vs Átomo & Periquito Sacaryas.mp4 (posted by luchablog vault (Google Drive)) CMLL: Los Micro Gemelos Diablo derrotan a Átomo y Periko Zacaryas (posted by mluchatv)

Rudos took 1/3. Retro, Nitro, Zandokan and Oro Jr. continue to make mask matches.

Fuerza Tapatia took 1/3. Star Black beat Sagrado, setting up a MEX HEAVY match

Star Black and Sagrado as a match explains that main event, but I’m not sure I can explain Star Black and Sagrado as a match.

The guys in the second match seemed more definite on their mask matches happening than before. I don’t know if they’ll do the cage match announcement on this Informa but they’re in range of it happening.

CMLL (TUE) 11/29/2022 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, Fuego en el Ring]
1) Cosmos, Mágico, Metatrón DQ Demonio Rojo, Javier Cruz Jr., Minotauro
excessive violence DQ
2) Estrella de Jalisco I & Estrella de Jalisco II b Black Boy & Temerario and Persa & Raven and Eclipse Jr. & Obelisk [Torneo Talentos Tapatios]
Black Boy replaced Ultimo Angel. Estrella de Jalisco II beat Persa for the win.
3) Barboza, Optimus, Trono b Canalla, Demonio Maya, Principe Daniel
Barboza & Canalla debuts. Canalla is a masked younger brother for Maya, Daniel and Cavernario. (Canalla may be the wrong spelling; they pronounced it differently than it reads.) Barboza pinned Principe Daniel.
4) Ángel Rebelde b Magia Blanca [lightning]
sets up a MEX WELTER title match
5) Halcón Negro Jr. © b Rugido [QRO MIDDLE]
6) Atlantis & Atlantis Jr. b Euforia & Soberano Jr. and Blue Panther & Dark Panther and Valiente & Valiente Jr. [Torneo Herederos]
Atlantis Jr. beat Dark Panther for the win.

I’m no closer to understanding the main event tournament. I didn’t know there was another Cavernario brother. Rebelde/Blanca had money thrown in but didn’t stick out as a memorable match to me. They also seemed to go fourteen minutes. “Lightning” in the rest of the CMLL circuit means a ten minute time-limit, and it means “a special singles match” in Guadalajara, I think.

CMLL (SAT) 12/03/2022 Arena Coliseo
1) Acero, Aéreo, Pequeño Magía vs Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Polvora, Pequeño Violencia
2) Cachorro, Leono, Valiente Jr. vs Dr. Karonte I, Dr. Karonte II, Inquisidor
3) Diamond, Robin, Suicida vs Cholo, Enfermero Jr., Raider
4) Blue Panther, Panterita del Ring, Volcano vs Kráneo, Okumura, Pólvora
5) Volador Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr.

Volador should get his win but it’s a little surprising they didn’t dress it up as a title match.

Atlantis Jr. & Virus vs Rocky Romero & Adrian Quest will air on NJPW World this Saturday.

CMLL (SUN) 12/04/2022 Arena México
1) Angelito, Shockercito, Último Dragóncito vs Full Metal, Mercurio, Pierrothito
2) La Guerrera, La Magnifica, La Vaquerita vs Hera, La Seductora, Tiffany
3) Magia Blanca, Magnus, Rugido vs El Audaz, Okumura, Pegasso [Relevos Increíbles]
4) El Coyote, Hijo del Villano III, Rey Bucanero vs Cancerbero, Luciferno, Virus
5) Soberano Jr., Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Gran Guerrero, Yota

Nothing notable here. 3/4 seemed arranged just to have slightly different matchups.

CMLL announced the 12/09 Arena Mexico show will celebrate 200 years of diplomatic relations between Mexico and the US. The celebration will include men’s and women’s four-tag team matches with Mexico and US members. I keep having to call these “competitions” because I have no idea if they’re meant to be four-way tag matches or a four-team tag tournament or something else. Maybe it’ll be explained on Informa.

Men’s teams:

  • Hechicero & Matt Taven
  • Volador Jr. & Lince Dorado
  • Mistico & Rocky Romero
  • Ultimo Guerrero & Kenny King

Women’s teams:

  • Dalys & Lady Frost
  • La Jarochita & Ivelisse
  • Lluvia & Alex Gracia
  • Reyna Isis & Avispa Dorada

Matt Taven is reportedly under AEW contract, so he’d be the first AEW wrestler to appear in CMLL. Not sure if that’ll actually get mentioned.

12/05 Guadalajara will run similar matches with slightly different Mexican partners

Women

  • Avispa Dorada & Maligna
  • Ivelisse & Valkyria
  • Lady Frost & Stephanie Vaquer
  • Alex Gracia & Lluvia

Men

  • Lince Dorado & Dulce Gardenia
  • Kenny King & Difunto
  • Matt Taven & Ultimo Guerrero
  • Rocky Romero & Averno

CMLL Informa has a large cast: Euforia, Atlantis and Atlantis JR., Volador Jr., Reyna Isis, Los Cancerberos and Apocalipsis. Might be the first time ever for him.

Yota Tsuji is advertised for Germany’s WXW on 01/28, so it seems like he’s not sticking around Mexico long.

AAA

Every day I check to see if the Tempe show is on FITE. It is not on FITE. Forastero popped up as doing press on Tuesday and I’m sure other people are there or will be there soon. It does not feel like this big drumbeat leading up to this show on the internet but, again, it’s not on FITE at this point so really it only matters how it feels in Tempe.

EMW is teasing a mystery wrestler for their 12/09 show, which is obviously a photo of Daga. He hasn’t wrestled in Mexico since the 2020 empty arena TripleMania. Daga gave up the Latin American championship in 2021 and it was suggested then that it was due to residency-related travel restrictions, similar to the issues Mascara Dorada has been dealing with since leaving WWE. If Daga is actually booked on that EMW show and it means he’s free again to travel between Mexico and the US, that’s fantastic news. I would like to see him back in AAA to see what he can do, but it’s better news if he can travel to see one family without being separated from another. It’s also a mystery photo on a lucha libre show, so it could be someone completely different without explanation and this paragraph could be completely pointless.

I was critical of, well, just about everything about Daga being put in that main event of that Tempe show. One thing in particular was Daga just RT-ing the poster once and moving on with his day. Since then, no one’s pushed that Tempe show harder than Daga, even handling the change from it being a title match well. It’s great he’s trying to make the most out of this chance.

AAA posted the Luchatitlan press conference on their YouTube channel Wednesday.

Big Lucha

Mas Lucha had a preview show from Friday’s Big Lucha “Endgame” show.

Big Lucha says they’re having boxing at 8:00 and starting the show promptly at 8:30, with a meet and greet after the show.

Other News

LuchaWorld has this week’s Poster-Mania.

80s/90s CMLL luchador Comando Ruso (Juan Carlos Torres Navarro, 58) passed away on Monday. SuperLuchas obituary mentions he was actually Comando Ruso II; Gerardo Garcia was Comando Ruso I, but faded away from wrestling much earlier. Comando Ruso was generally an opening card rudo, who’s biggest matches were apuesta losses to midcard wrestlers. He was also the second Titan, taking over a gimmick originally given to a foreign wrestler better known as Jack Victory in late 1992, and wrestling under the mask through 1995. He stuck around in CMLL during the tough period post-AAA exodus and still didn’t do much, which may have encouraged his decision to move back to Guadalajara and just wrestle around there.

Andrade announced Monday he underwent surgery for a torn pec. He says he suffered the injury in a six man tag on 08/17, which means he wrestled with it through a ladder match.  The recovery for that sort of injury depends on the severity. Cody Rhodes has missed half a year for what his bad version of that injury and we don’t know how bad Andrade had. It didn’t seem like Andrade thought he had a serious surgery-worthy injury until he pulled out of the RGR show with Dralistico about two weeks ago, which hopefully means it didn’t as severe. Andrade is under contract with AEW but hasn’t been used since getting into a backstage fight and it didn’t seem like he was going to be brought back soon even if he was healthy.

Lucha Libre CM announced an open tryout on 12/07. CM seems to have lots of people on their show and doesn’t come off that they have some sort of strict screening process. Perhaps that’ll change. The requirements list notes aspirants don’t actually have to a wrestling license, with the idea that they’ll have a Mexico State commissioner on hand and will help you get a license right away if qualified.

SB Kento and Takuma will challenge Aero Panther & Fight Panther for the DTU Nexo (Tag Team) Championship at DTU’s 12/15 show in Arena Aficion. Kento & Takuma won on Tuesday to set that up.

WWE seems to be make changes in their Latin American media division, with the person in charge of the department leaving. A vague goal of running more and bigger in Mexico comes up often in WWE public statements. Changing the people involved may indicate an actual adjustment in strategy. There’s gossip about the people being let go and I don’t know if any of it’s true, just that this is more worth watching the usual “we’d really like to go there” comments that get more attention.

12/17 RIOT

GCW announced Hijo del Vikingo for their 12/31 show in Atlantic City.
