Stuka challenges for Rey del Inframundo, injury notes on Hijo del Vikingo, Laredo Kid, Mistico and Star Jr.

CMLL

Mistico suffered a right leg injury late in the match Monday in Puebla. It didn’t seem serious, but it was enough to take him out of Guadalajara the next night. He told La Tijera he hopes to return on Friday.

I didn’t get these videos up until this morning, and they were still processing as I went to post this around 1 pm CT.

I haven’t had much time to actually watch stuff lately, but the parts of the cibernetico I saw seemed about average. Luchadors who’ve lost their mask and are sticking around typically get an important win or two after. Stuka winning this cibernetico and the Rey del Inframundo on Friday is an easy way to get him those wins, especially since CMLL doesn’t seem to want him defeat Atlantis Jr. Stuka versus Terrible does not feel like a big Friday main event at higher prices; CMLL’s expecting the Dia de Muertos theme to carry it.

Star Jr. hurt something in his lower left leg; I couldn’t tell if it was his knee or his ankle or something else. It was painful enough that he couldn’t cooperate on the moves intended to eliminate him from the match; he was too busy attending to his actual injury to sell the holds put on him. It did seem to get quickly better once Star Jr. got out of the ring and he seemed set to limp to the back – until CMLL’s medical team rushed over, insisted on him going on the stretcher, and took him out that way. Every injury, no matter the severity, seems to require a stretcher and a neckbrace of late. Star Jr. was posting Instagram stories like normal this morning, so I don’t think he’ll be out for long if at all.

Averno unmasked Atlantis Jr. and cradled him for the win. Rematch challenges followed.

Lots of changes on this card due to Mistico being out. The women’s match finish was amusing. There was a big turnout for this show; playing the Dia de Muertos theme more than usual in this arena may have helped.

CMLL (SAT) 11/05/2022 Arena Coliseo
1) Acero & Aéreo vs Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Violencia
2) Avispa Dorada, La Guerrera, La Vaquerita vs Hera, La Seductora, Tiffany
3) Magia Blanca, Magnus, Robin vs Dark Magic, Kráneo, Okumura

5) Místico, Negro Casas, Valiente vs Ángel de Oro, Euforia, Mephisto

The Star Jr./Niebla Roja idea got dropped. Fuego is only working Saturdays so far.

A quick reminder that this is daylight savings time; Informa (and CMLL’s Friday stream) is 1 hour later than normal if you haven’t changed clocks.

Avispa Dorada mentioned in Instagram that she’s out with COVID.

Lady Frost said she’d be back in CMLL in December. That’s the same timeframe Lince Dorado has mentioned, so something’s happening that month.

AAA

Hijo de Vikingo suffered a left elbow dislocation in a match Monday in Tlaxcala, according to his Instagram. His Instagram story had video of the injury; he was walking on his hands when to set up a headscissors when the arm went out. Three weeks suggests Vikingo will miss the AAA show in Ciudad Juarez, though AAA was still advertising him as of Wednesday morning. He likely won’t wrestle in Tijuana next weekend. It also takes care of the “no one can book him in the US until AAA” issue since Vikingo isn’t going to be wrestling much of anywhere until that Tempe show.

On the good injury news, AAA announced Laredo Kid was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. I hope AAA plays up that Vikingo/Laredo match when it airs (whenever that is) because it seemed like it cost both men a bit.

FITE is signing up many US independent promotions to their Fite+ (5 USD/month) service. That means a lot lucha libre matches in GCW and other promotions which existed primarily in a single 15 USD PPV format (or on IWTV) are now in a single library, with all their shows scheduled to go up on the stream.. I spent five minutes trying to figure out how to look at the full GCW library and gave up with no solution, but maybe I’ll find time to link through the matches you may be interested in. (And it sure isn’t great if you spent money on the Vanguardia and Zona 23 PPVs with them going up as part of the subscription service days later.)

FITE+ is rumored to be paying more for this footage than IWTV was getting, and I’m going to guess there might have been some other bonuses thrown in. It doesn’t work to give promotions more money while charging half as much as IWTV, so consumers should fully expect the 5 USD/month is a starting price and it’ll go up just as soon as they can get enough people signed up.

Those economics aren’t too important this blog, but AAA is also on FITE and AAA probably should get in on any sweet deals while they exist. At the very least, AAA ought to be offering their show on Space (stream it at the same day and time as Space), to take the extra cash and to get more visibility for the product. I don’t think this will actually happen, because AAA sees themselves as many levels above a GCW and would want a much better deal on principal, while the reality is AAA doesn’t mean much outside of the TripleMania shows.

We’re 31 days out from the Tempe show. No matches have been announced.

IWRG

Mas Lucha put up the full Castillo del Terror main event for members. The show cut off during the live broadcast, said to be due to an electrical issue.

There doesn’t appear to be a show Thursday; maybe Thursday shows are the exception and not the rule now.
