Both the top two issues are carrying over to next week.

10:21. Satanico used the ropes to pin the 2nd, UG did the same in the ring.
CMLL unexpectedly streamed this live on YouTube, without any country restriction. It’s still up there now. Marca also streamed it with the usual Mexico-only block. That seems to confirm the country restriction is a Marca choice and not a CMLL one. It appears this CMLL YouTube stream was a one off holiday Dia de Lucha special event and not a return to streaming more, though that’s all the chat was asking for.
It was a good show to air for free as a bonus. Los Diabolicos would do fine as undercard rudos for young tecnicos, as they’d done for pretty much their entire career. The semimain gave all sorts of fun match ups, including a brief Navarro/Volador exchange for the sickos. The main event more got by on nostalgia but it never got sad. It didn’t have the energy of the Aniversario (the crowd was only slightly larger than an average Tuesday) and the legends matches had a slow and less spectacular style than CMLL fans are used to, but they were solid matches. Everything else was standard non-Friday stuff.
Maybe Satanico was just having a bad day, but he looked significantly worse than his recent Arena Coliseo Guadalajara matches. He wasn’t moving well and he and UG kept the finishes simple. He didn’t hint any more about retirement but it definitely felt as if it was coming soon.
Mephisto looked to have a leg injury at the end of the main event but seemed to be fine in the post match interviews.
CMLL (TUE) 09/20/2022 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Arena Coliseo Guadalajraa, thecubsfan]
1) Avispón Negro Jr., Bello Antuan, Cosmos b Bobby Black, Relámpago Azul, Tigre Blanco

5) Gemelo Diablo I, Gemelo Diablo II, Sagrado b Furia Roja, Guerrero de la Muerte, Ráfaga
6) Atlantis Jr., Místico, Soberano Jr. b Hijo del Villano III, Terrible, Zandokan Jr.
Mistico & Atlantis Jr. didn’t get along but they still won
There were some issue with the stream but nothing else too notable here.
CMLL (FRI) 09/23/2022 Arena México
1) Angelito, Shockercito, Último Dragóncito vs Minos, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito
2) Halcón Suriano Jr., Sangre Imperial, Suicida vs Akuma, Dark Magic, Espanto Jr.
3) Blue Panther & Dark Panther vs Panterita del Ring & Panterita del Ring Jr.
4) Atlantis, Hijo de Octagón, Octagón vs Ángel de Oro, Felino, Fuerza Guerrera
5) Dragón Rojo Jr., Místico, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Soberano Jr., Titán
Not the usual repeats of the Aniversario big matches – the women aren’t booked and only Stuka Jr. is there. The Dia de Luchadors card may have thrown off some of the usual patterns.
Octagon makes his first CMLL appearance since 2018. Octagon and Fuerza Guerrera spent the early part of the month calling each other liars and losers, and now they’re back doing matches again. Obviously that mask match would sell, obviously that mask match would be remarkably terrible, obviously that mask match isn’t going to happen, obviously they’re going to pretend it’s going to happen once again anyway. It does seem to signal the Atlantis/Fuerza story is coming to an end with Fuerza moving back to Octagon. I still do not believe CMLL will ever run Atlantis/Fuerza as a mask match; Octagon is likely correct when he talks about Fuerza Guerrera never really wanting to put up his mask. Fuerza says he’s retiring in the spring, so Octagon’s running out of chances to do this.
Hijo de Octagon is making his CMLL debut, though he has appeared in this building back with Lucha Libre Elite. He’s understood not to be one of Octagon’s actual children, though he and Octagon both fiercely insist otherwise.
The Panteritas versus the Panthers could be great.
CMLL (SAT) 09/24/2022 Arena Coliseo
1) Acero, Aéreo, Pequeño Magía vs Full Metal, Mercurio, Pequeño Violencia
2) La Guerrera, La Magnifica, La Vaquerita vs La Seductora, Olympia, Tiffany
3) Guerrero Maya Jr., Pegasso, Stigma vs Magnus, Okumura, Pólvora
4) Fugaz vs Dragón Rojo Jr.
5) Esfinge, Negro Casas, Star Jr. vs Atlantis Jr., Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero
That was quick to the Fugaz/Dragon Rojo match. Atlantis Jr. is here, so he just has something going on Friday?
CMLL (MON) 09/26/2022 Arena Puebla
1) Centella Roja, Hijo de Centella Roja, Meyer vs Espíritu Maligno, Fuerza Chicana, King Jaguar
2) La Jarochita & Lluvia vs Olympia & Reyna Isis
3) Halcón Suriano Jr., Perverso, Rey Samuray vs Akuma, Dark Magic, Espanto Jr.
4) Magia Blanca, Magnus, Rugido, Volador Jr. vs Arkalis, Guerrero Maya Jr., Pegasso, Stigma
5) Místico vs Atlantis Jr.
Atlatnis appears to be a rudo everywhere but Guadalajara. But it never seems to stick. Perverso might be a tecnico now that he’s on the Fuerza Poblana reserve squad? I’m thinking too much about something that may not matter.
(No Sunday lineup yet.)
The official CMLL results for the Noche de Campoenes lineup will be announced on Wednesday, but the voting was so definite that I threw it into the database Tuesday night:
CMLL (FRI) 09/30/2022 Arena México
1) Pierrothito vs Mercurio [CMLL MINI]
2) Euforia, Hechicero, Mephisto vs Gemelo Diablo I, Gemelo Diablo II, Sagrado [CMLL TRIOS]
3) Dulce Gardenia & Espíritu Negro vs Ángel de Oro & Niebla Roja [CMLL TAG]
4) Amapola & Silueta vs La Jarochita & Reyna Isis [MEX WOMEN TAG]
5) Suicida vs Titán [CMLL WELTER]
6) Místico vs Rugido [NWA MIDDLE]
Soberano got close to Rugido in the last week, and the Rugido fans went crazy voting for him. It’s not even a contest going into (what we think are) the last few hours. The side-effect of this is that some of the people voting for Rugido appear to be lobbing a vote to Magia Blanca & Volador in the tag title race, and they’ve suddenly cut the lead in half. It’s not all the Rugido voters (or the Depredadores would be winning) and it may not be enough if the poll is closing to Informa. It has moved it from “lock” to “almost a lock.”
Everything else has been set for a while. Infernales, Espiritu & Dulce, and Pierrothito took the lead in their categories on day 1 and never went behind. Silueta & Ampola did so on day 2, Suicida by day 3. I don’t have a great story about why these are all so one sided.
Informa is scheduled for the big people from the Aniversario: Atlantis Jr. & Stuka, La Jarochita & Reyna Isis and Angel de Oro. They’ll probably also talk about the Night of Champions.
AAA
There is an additional taping before TripleMania
AAA TV (SUN) 10/02/2022 Auditorio Benito Juárez, Zapopan, Jalisco
1) Mini Vikingo, Mr. Iguana, Niño Hamburguesa vs Dinámico, Emperador Azteca, Toxin
2) Aramis, Arez, Komander vs Abismo Negro Jr., Flamita, Látigo
3) Dave The Clown, Murder Clown, Panic Clown vs Carta Brava Jr., Chessman, Puma King
4) Hijo Del Vikingo vs Laredo Kid, Taurus
5) Charly Manson, Heavy Metal, Zorro vs Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
6) Pagano, Psycho Clown, Sexy Star vs Chik Tormenta, Cibernético, Sam Adonis
One episode should air on 10/08. They’re probably not airing another episode on 10/15 but who knows. AAA tapings in Guadalajara are cursed historically. Let’s not talk about why they’re cursed, just bad things seem to happen often.
Sam Adonis is matched with Psycho Clown, who’s lacking much to do for TripleMania. Sexy Star is playing the role of Lady Shani on this show. Vikingo/Laredo/Taurus could be great, as could the second match. Mini Vikingo is said to be Hijo del Vikingo’s 15 year old nephew. He shows promise and can do some cool stuff but he’s very raw and it’s pretty aggressive to put him on TV at this point. At least he has good people to work with.
Octagon Jr. says he’s returning on Saturday’s Showcenter event. Murder Clown has a mystery person on that lineup, but that could be Panic Clown and Octagon Jr. could be replacing someone else.
Mamba, doing promotion for his own full-time return on September 25th, says his ankle injury didn’t heal as expected and doctor’s had to put fiberglass in. I don’t really understand that other than the general idea that injury recovery sucked.
It’s Wednesday. We’d probably hear about a press conference announcement by now if one was coming this week.
IWRG
Mas Lucha has their latest premium show on Thursday, with Ultimo Guerrero versus El Mesias as the main event of a 7 match card. It is a little surprising Mas Lucha gets to do this match if CMLL is planning on doing it soon; maybe they’re just not.
Mas Lucha also said they’ll announce the eight luchadors for this year’s Torneo Supremo on this show, noting it’ll be eight people who haven’t been in before.
Other
LuchaWorld has the latest Lucha Report and this week’s Poster-Mania.
The actual Dia de Lucha Libre y Dia de Luchador is today. CMLL put out a video celebrating their history (and pushing the 90th Anniversary, as they did last Friday.) There are free shows in Guadalajara (might be streamed) and San Luis Potosi today. SuperLuchas looks back at the first EMLL show and the forgotten work of Mexican sports writer Fray Nano in getting the promotion off the ground in the first few years.
Hijo del Vikingo and Pegasso were honored by Puebla’s Box y Lucha Libre commission today. Toro Bill Jr. & Guerrero Espacial were honored in memory after passing away in the last year. Wrestlers were also honored in Guadalajara.
Ninja Mack won a five-way in NOAH including Extreme Tiger, Dragon Bane, Alpha Wolf, and Alejandro earlier today. A Dragon Bane/Alpha Wolf match on 09/03 was said to be pretty good.
Impact has Black Taurus vs Laredo Kid vs Alex Zayne vs Trey Miguel vs Mia Yim on Thursday. When I read the taping results, I thought this was a #1 contenders match for the X-Division title and so it was very good to win. It now appears to be a preview match for a very similar match on Friday’s PPV and so it’s very bad to win by US wrestling logic.
Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. says his next goal in Japan is to win a singles title.
